  1. They've cancelled the list?! @#$#%&*! liberals!
  2. I'm just thinking out loud here, so bear with me. It seems that there are 2 kinds of recoil: "absolute" recoil (for lack of a better term) which would be Newton's 2nd (?) law: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Whatever the force is of the projectile(s) going downrange in foot-pounds at the muzzle is the energy that must be transferred back through the firearm. This is easily measured, I have even seen a formula that takes into account the gun weight and all. But we care more about felt recoil, which I think would be expressed in foot-pounds distributed over t
  3. Don't blame me, I voted for Mike Badnarik. (so did about 400,000 other folks)
  4. Oh, I wish! I often said that if someone had the good sense to have me fixed when I was sixteen, I'm sure I would have gotten a nobel prize by now. Instead, I have spent far too much time, money, and effort trying to "service the queen bee". I s'pose now I have to do the dog, just to prove I have a set.
  5. In almost every election, the candidate who spends the most, wins. That bites. With 50% of the populus voting, and evenly split between the repblicrats and the democrans, that means you can get into office with 25% of the electorate supporting you. Consequently, you aren't beholden to your constituents, just the businesses and PACs that bought your office. It makes me sick that in South Africa people will stand for 8 hours in the hot sun to vote, or in Iraq they will brave IEDs; and here in the US if it rains on election day turnout will go down 10%. If every before the election American
  6. Sure! Put us all down on the magical, fanciful, enchanted order list! I'll take 1,000! I'll even let the dog live!
  7. I generally look at the candidates, and vote for the one I prefer regardless of party affilliation; but I have been voting for Libertarian candidates often since 1980. I often hear the argument that it is "wasting your vote". My answer is that if your candidate doesn't win, that is "wasting your vote" too. With the dissatisfaction with the 2 mainstream parties; and the fact that they are almost indistinguishable, the so-called "third parties" are going to get more and more power. Anyone remember Teddy Roosevelt? John Anderson? Ross Perot? Ralph Nader? So called third party spoilers who
  8. The cat is just my alter-ego. Mrewr.
  9. That's what I assume, I just wonder if due to a shorter bbl length, perhaps the shot cup / slug is leaving the bbl a millisecond earlier, and the gas pressure doesn't peak as high. I would think that if I get failure to eject on setting #1, I'm not getting enough gas pressure thru the port. It would be cool if the system was like an FAL, with multiple gas settings; or nice if there was some way to measure the back pressure, and tailor the number of gas ports or their size. I guess if I don't get reliable operation on setting #1, I have to be at #2. Let's hear the voice of experience...
  10. Maybe I am mistaken or confused; after searching the forum for gas port adjustment info; I did see the "high brass, low brass" rule of thumb; but I could have sworn I also saw that one should use setting #1 for 3" shells, and #2 for 2 3/4 shells. I have a barrel cut to 16 1/2" with a polychoke on it and I have a recoil buffer. I find that on setting #1 it will cycle just some 2 3/4" high brass, but on setting #2 it cycles all 2 3/4" reliably. I don't really shoot 3" shells. Does this help? Muddy the water? Is barrel length that critical? Am I beating on my gun shooting high
  11. Get me 10 RIGHT NOW or I'll kill this dog!
  12. BOYCOTT THE 10-ROUND MAGS! THEY'RE ALL A BUNCH OF CAPITALISTS! I SUSPECT THEY MAY BE IN FAVOR OF FREE ENTERPRISE, TOO!
  13. Just hunting bad guys, tyrants, and keepin' the freakin' king of England out of our face!
  14. Russ Feingold is one of my senators here in WI. He is a Democrat and personally anti-gun, BUT - he votes against legislation restricting firearms ownership, including the AWB, because he is a believer in individual rights and is against legislation that doesn't make sense and will have no effect. He was the only senator to vote against the patriot act. He will put his own beliefs and political ambition aside to do what he believes is right. I think they used to call that integrity. I often disagree with him, but I have to admire a pol like that; they are rare. He is probably going to be
  15. There better be more than 1 box of 1000 springs! I anticipate so much demand for 10 round mags that when they hit the market production won't be able to keep up, and I STILL won't be able to get one! They'll start turning up on Ebay for $200.00, and just like when I wanted a converted Saiga-12, I'll have to go to my dealer and say, "find me one...I'll pay whatever I have to." Oh, how I hope I'm wrong!
  16. If you want to shoot like that its easy. Just take a bit of natural talent and give up everything in your life except your shotgun, and then live, eat and breathe shooting every day for years, and you will. It is always impressive when you see someone who has total mastery of any skill; but I'd rather shoot 10% as well, and have 90% more stuff in my life.
  17. Wouldn't work. They would just stand there screaming deceptive left wing anti-gun propagandist insults. Hillary Clinton of course would be there yelling gun owners are are the same as slave and plantation owners. It would work for me! All this training, all these nice guns... and I never get to shoot anyone.
  18. Will your LRBO work with Jeric's installed as well, or is it either / or? For the record, I have one of Jeric's, installed by Tony at Tromix. I ran into a little problem, no one's fault really, and needed to have the design of the BHO spring changed slightly. Both Tony and Jeric stepped up to the plate and offered me a fix at no cost to me. Jeric ended up fabricating a custom spring and sending it to me for free! He wouldn't even let me reimbuse him! Both great guys to work with -- patronize Tromix and Warfield Armory whenever you can, and with no worries. It works great now. Thanks
  19. How about if we have the anti-gun faction, and the pro-gun faction fight it out in the streets?
  20. You can blame the "government" or the "liberals" or "leftists", but I believe the average American would just as soon see guns go away; certainly the type of guns that are designed to efficiently kill people. They buy into the myth that the only guns the average citizen should have should be for hunting or target shooting, and think only cops and soldiers should be making life and death decisions, as though they are somehow transformed by their training into a more wise and moral being. They have been so emasculated by their easy life of technology, warmth, security, and gratification that t

    Ribbed Sight

How I adjusted my ribbed sight rail: 1. Take the fug-ugly-tiny-sight-radius-poor-sight-picture thing off 2. Ship to Tony at Tromix with credit card number, ask him to put HK sights on it 3. Wait 14 days for UPS man 4. Take out of box There! Perfect! I recommend it to everyone!
  22. Yes they do, or should! Speaking for myself, I would like a magwell to give me a wider open area to hit when inserting a magazine, and a lowered piece to index on when removing and inserting mags. Under stress (like bullets coming your way) it is amazing how narrow the Saiga receiver is, and how difficult it is to get 3 rectangular square inches of mag into it is. Back when I was in the police academy everybody still carried revolvers, and fast reloads were tricky. I'll always remember my crusty firearm instructor's criticisms: if you were really clumsy he'd tell you "Y
  23. More than annoying -- incorrect! Might as well be calling them belts!
  24. Well, now I'm slightly less embarassed about what I paid for mine from Elite. (Ya know, that's why it's "Elite" only a select few of us can get our hands on this amount of cash, and will spend it on a gun that's marked up 4X!) Now that I have it set up exactly the way I want, I've spent more than the one on Gunbroker! Or, as my wife enjoys pointing out, "$1,000.00 of stuff on a $300.00 gun!" But ya know, when I am blasting a few patterns at imaginary bad guys, I am NEVER thinking about what it cost! Only that I now have the ultimate hand held weapon at ANY price! At least I would have
  25. Well, I have 20 years of formal training, but my opinions are still just that. You make some good points; but I still think a handgun is the best defensive weapon there is, because it is there when you need it. It will never match the killing power of any longarm, but if you know there is danger coming, and have time to get a longarm, you maybe should get the telephone. It is certainly easier on the psyche, the family, the pocketbook, and the attorneys if you can avoid shooting someone. I wouldn't say a shotgun is more controllable; one can put 18 rounds of .40S&W on a human si
