  1. It's designed after this Bulgarian Krinkov brake.
  2. I think it looks great. Out of curiosity, do you have the diagrams and dimensions? How long does it make the barrel length overall the way this one sits? I've been thinking of picking up a Draco to run as a rifle with a permanently attached muzzle brake so I'd need to make mine longer than this.
  3. The AK design also should have this present no matter who made the stock. The stock should stop on the shoulder for the rear tang, (hence the "stepped" shape of the stock inside the receiver) and not actually contact the rear of the receiver. If the stock actually contacts the receiver at that outside lip then it could cause the receiver to eventually peel it's way a little down the stock.
  4. I'm 5'9" and I much prefer the Warsaw length. To me, the short stock and close up feel I get from it are just comfortable. Then again, I also butcher the stocks on most shotguns so I can get a shorter length of pull on them, I just hate feeling like I have to move the gun away from me before I can pull it to my shoulder with a longer stock... However, on an AR15, I always put the telescoping stock all the way out... I don't understand it either... I have read that the main reason (aside from the average size of soldiers) that the stocks are shorter than most US rifles is because the Russia
  5. If you keep it I would trim the button up on it and also cut a groove for the spring to ride in. This will keep it from coming off over the plate it's on and causing the BHO to get sucked up inside the receiver and lock the gun open.....which is less than desirable and a pain to fix.
  6. Their wording says nothing about US magazines in a shotgun, only in your "rifle" so I would say legally you might have them unless they change it. Either way, for their prices, they can keep their offerings...

    Optics Help

EDITED TO ADD: Not sure if a PK-AS could withstand the recoil of an S-12 over time. Probably. Would have to research to know for sure. I imagine the PK-AS would do fine under Saiga 12 recoil. The Kobras, and other Russian made AK optics are usually built like tanks. I'd guess the PK-AS is as well.
  8. I also would add these keywords to the title. As it's a unique item, it would get more traffic listed with AK's as well as Saiga's. Most people aren't looking on Gunbroker for a Saiga, they are looking for AK's, some of those AK's just happen to be Saigas. Hell, people add guns that aren't even remotely similar to titles all the time....
  9. Tapco makes some good products and they make some products I would never consider buying. Their folding stock for the AK for example looks flat out awful.
  10. You can replace the FCG with the G2 The gas piston Pistol grip Brake And be done. Those parts will put you in good standing for 922r for using imported magazines, which I highly recommend. If you're going to use AK mags, use milsurp mags. US made ones are all plastic and will, yes, WILL break. Milsurp ones have steel locking lugs and feed lips.
  11. You will find that many "Bulgarian" items are in fact Russian manufactured with the Izzy or Tula marks removed. Not saying it happened on the stocks, but it did happen on the magazines. A lot.
  12. Realistically it still hardly worked at that. I'd expect the big badass .50 caliber pistol to at least put down a pig without that much of a hassle doing it. I imagine the hollowpoints actually were a bad decision for this task though, just size wise, the HP's would have probably been stopped before getting into any vitals on that pig. If it'd already been charging, he might have been done for. I've never done any pig hunting, no wild pigs to speak of in my neck of the woods. It almost seems like that pig wasn't afraid of people - ignored them until it got shot. There's no way it did

  14. Who quoted you 500 bucks to convert it? You should go laugh in their face. That's ridiculous. Anyway as said, if you are going to stay with the Saiga front end, or use any handguards designed for a Saiga (there a lots of options) then the conversion is really very simple and straight forward.
  15. What the fuck is wrong with these assholes? You aren't old fashioned, you're just a man. More than can be said for these "hunters." Who even takes a range toy out hog hunting anyway?
  16. I'd just go for the CAA lower and put your own heat shield in it. Seeing that one on Kalinka makes me think I should start doing that and selling them for less than 100 bucks. Price is ridiculous on that....
  17. I wish I could have been in the room when the Bren and this thing were being designed. As much as I like a unique design, I still have to wonder what they were thinking.
  18. Anything BUT net neutrality is far more scary. Companies want control of the internet to squash out competition. Politicians want control of the internet to squash out competition. I don't know about you guys, but I'm just a man. They don't like net neutrality because it is good for the average person, which means it's bad for them. You know what I say? Fuck 'em. Sites like this one would be gone. Do you think a place like this could afford to have a company like Comcast put this site on ANY of the plans except for the top tier unlimited plans that are going to cost consumers out the ass?
  19. All in all, I think it would be a non-issue. That part is only what keeps the dust cover from going down into the receiver at the front. That said, I would not stick with that on any of my rifles, and would see about having it replaced.
  20. You only need to modify the Tapco G2 if you plan on using the bolt hold open with it. All that is required is a small amount needs to be taken off of the right side of the area that the hammer pivots on in order to clear the bho plate.
  21. As said the muzzle brake length only counts if it is permanently attached. To measure barrel length, the ATF closes the bolt on an empty chamber, inserts a rod down the barrel until it hits the bolt face and stops, and then marks and measures the rod to the vrey end of the attached brake.
  22. I have an AFG that I'm planning on modifying to fit nice and tight on a CAA lower foregrip. Not my picture, but it's what I'm going to do.
  23. As far as I know, those flash hiders are supposed to also serve as a "booster" meaning that they increase the pressure inside the barrel helping to ensure reliable cycling of a short barreled AK. It would probably be fine in a full barreled rifle, but might cause it to cycle more violently. It may or may not lead to problems after a while, but I can't really say for sure.
  24. This is very true. It's a well documented psychological phenomena that when danger strikes, people will first look for others more capable of dealing with the problem before finally getting involved.
