  1. Look guys... everyone here understands that by shooting anyone it is very possible to result in killing them. When someone says they 'shoot to kill', they simply mean there is no warning shots or attempt to wing them or other half-assery. They understand that they are shooting-to-kill to end-the-threat. This does not mean that they're going to shoot the guy even after he's running off down the road or finishing them off after they're lying unconscious on the ground. Furthermore, a grand jury isn't going to indict you just because you told the cops you meant to kill someone when you
  2. Here's my next mosin project: http://www.surplusrifle.com/reviews2006/mosinsniperproject/index.asp
  3. Just curious what you said to them? GTFO or freeze, dirtbags!?
  4. With the sight on, you would only be able to see the rear sight as the base and cross-screw of the red dot sight would block the front. Most RDS nowadays come with the thumbscrew mounts that can be hand-release or have the option for lever-throw QD releases... I see your point, though. It's not as good as cowitnessing sights but having the slide milled and high profile sights installed is going to cost you into several hundred dollars for that option. These are a much cheaper options and less permanent option for a plinker or dual-use gun.
  5. Just saw these guys on facebook... awesome product and it's a wonder someone else hasn't already made it big with something like this already. Sight Mount Handgun Sights I've seen optic-specific mounts that work through the rear dovetails, but not a slotted railed, much less one that retains the original sight picture. The only other way I've seen to mount a red dot to a pistol slide and still retain the option of irons is to have the slide milled for the specific optic. With the prevalence of lightweight red dots now available, I really think that every new modern pistol
  6. http://about.usps.com/handbooks/po408/ch1_003.htm A little confusing... but it talks about 'local' postmarks showing the full name of the specific post office but doesn't make it sound standard. Around here there's only one post office per zip code, so specific identification wouldn't be a problem. I'd venture to say that the majority of zip codes are operated by a single post office.
  7. Every letter, at least letters that get mailed from the PO, is stamped with the name of the city and zip code it originated from... called a postmark.
  8. You all better stock up on your Reynolds... http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/30/nyregion/letter-sent-to-bloomberg-is-said-to-test-positive-for-ricin.html?_r=0 Two letters that contained threats to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg — one addressed to him, the other to a lobbyist who works on his gun control campaign — have tested positive for the deadly poison ricin, the authorities said on Wednesday. Both letters were identical in content, bore references to the debate over gun regulation and contained written threats to Mayor Bloomberg, Mr. Browne said. “It’s threatening, and it’s very
  9. Pretty sure it's always going to be a DD. It's classification didn't have anything to do with the '94 AWB I don't believe.
  10. Cheaper Than Dirt specializes in shitty Chinese bolt-on accessories, low grade camping gear, junk military surplus and ProMag brand magazines. Their regard for their customers is reflected in the kinds of products they offer...
  11. Shops that go through more volume are less likely to gouge on their prices. They still might raise prices just so they don't run low on supply due to the shortages... but they usually don't by much. Conversely, those small shops that hardly move anything are the ones that usually raise prices to retarded levels... and it kinda does make sense. If they know they'll only get one black rifle normally per month and they know it will fly off the shelf at MSRP anyway, they're going to double the price just on the off chance someone will buy it before they get more. Reminds me of the local hardwa
  12. Here's a story about a guy getting hit 14 times with .45 ACP (with six rounds in the 'zone') and still putting up a serious fight. Took some well-placed shots to the noggin to take him out. http://www.policeone.com/patrol-issues/articles/6199620-Why-one-cop-carries-145-rounds-of-ammo-on-the-job/ Moral of the story: All pistols suck. But yes, I would definitely take a .380 ACP over a .22LR.
  13. Before we close it, lets at least clear up some bad info: It does not matter whether it is a rifle or a pistol in regards to the private sale of a firearm between non-licensees. From the BAFTE website FAQ: A person may only acquire a firearm within the person’s own State, except that he or she may purchase or otherwise acquire a rifle or shotgun, in person, at a licensee’s premises in any State, provided the sale complies with State laws applicable in the State of sale and the State where the purchaser resides. A person may borrow or rent a firearm in any State for temporary use
  14. What, a tantal sporter? A rifle that used to go for $400 just a year or two ago? No, a Waffen 74, which was $649 about a year ago. I'd sure like to see a link to that... and I don't count a single, random armslist ad. Just because a good deal pops up now and again doesn't mean the market is softening.

  16. Since apparently I'm a socialist puppet if I post anything from Snopes, here's something that all of the Rush/Levin/Beck listeners can enjoy: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/11/rumor-check-was-ft-hood-shooter-nidal-hasan-promoted-given-a-medal-in-jail/
  17. You can talk about all you will and won't pay 'til you're blue in the face. They're gonna hit the shelves at no less than $600 and stay that way because people will still be buying them. They might not be flying of the shelves like they were... but there is still a high demand for overpriced rifles out there.
  18. Same was said, I'm sure, about any significant innovation in shooting from breech loading cartridges and repeating rifles to the first affordable telescopic sights. Hate to say it, but right now any chump can go buy a boresighted .270 Remington 770 or .30-06 Savage Axis, box of ammo and make a kill shot on a trophy animal at 100 yards where most shots happen. The shooting side of hunting has always been incidental, anyway. You bond with nature and the animal, not your rifle and gear.

  20. That thing is simply puke-tastic. Here's what you want: Black Aces Tactical receiver retrofit... turns a Mossberg or Remington into mag-fed pump that uses Saiga 12 mags. Imagine making one into an SBR! You could have something like a Serbu Shorty with an MD20!
