  1. You could also try http://www.miniuzi.com/uzifinder.php Kind of like google for NFA stuff. Most of it is transferreable but there are some Pre86 and Post86 dealer samples that come up.
  2. I don't know how it is on the 21 incher but my 16" shoots no name 147gr surplus stuff the same as it shoots 168gr FGMM at 100yds. I think the 1:10 twist doesn't help the heavier bullets like it does with 1:12 guns.
  3. The domain is registered to MD Arms now but it's showing some "female voice talent". Did he have a sex change? http://www.mdarms.com/
  4. Mine did that. Pauly fixed it. The 308s have an extra lug on the bottom of the bolt.
  5. I would reconsider the stock. I put a choate on my 700 to replace the factory wood one and accuracy went to hell (from sub MOA to 2-3moa). The action "bedding" area was all plastic and looked like a whale's vagina. I'd go with something like a bell & carlson ($200 neighborhood) or (for about $100 more) HS Precision. I think they both make pistol grip style stocks if you like those, plus they have aluminum bedding blocks and weigh 2-3lbs. I put my 700 action into a HS Precision and the accuracy came back (actually it's shooting better than before).
  6. I got a POSP from Kalinka. I was shocked when it showed up in 2 days considering they are on the other side of the country.
  7. A lot of 308 guys (AR-10, FAL, M1a, etc.) tend to recommend the Rhodesian Recon setups which I'm sure would work fine with S308 mags.
  8. Yes there are a couple of rivets holding the klinton plate on and I think about 3 spot welds. I just ground down the spot welds with a dremel until I could break the plate off then file the remaining part flush. You could drill them too but I didn't want extra holes. The hole for the real AK trigger is already there underneath the klinton plate. You don't have to cut anything. There are several sponsors here that sell parts. I went with Dinzag but there are others too. I liked that his FCG parts are already modded for the 308 to function properly, plus it came with cobalt drill bits (us
  9. You have to remove the shepard's crook (it sits in grooves on the pins to keep them from moving), then you can punch out the pins. You don't need to drill out side rivets on the 308 like you do with other calibers.
  10. Mine was doing it bad enough to cause the bolt to not retract past the mag. Pauly fixed it.
  11. IIRC according to Dinzag the older 308s had a .630" barrel diamater under the FSB and the newer ones are like .670" and would need to be turned down to thread them with a 5/8x24 There is some info at the bottom of this page: Dinzag
  12. Pauly's Custom Steelin Glass Bolt Review (Saiga 12) Like many other S12 owners mine cycled high brass buckshot and slugs fine, but would not cycle lighter ammo, nor low recoil buckshot. That had to change as I'm not going to want to pay $1 a shot for very long. I started out doing the usual lubing, playing with choke settings etc. After converting the gun with a Arsenal FCG the problem remained. Rats. By the way, my S12 has 3 undersized ports. Somewhere between .07" and .08" is how they measure. I next tried to copy some of the photos and info in the bolt polishing forum
  13. Best way I found to get rid of the spot welds on the Klinton plate is take your dremel (or file, if you are really patient), and grind the welds down to where the plate very thin then you can break it off, smooth out the spot welds remaining on the actual receiver and paint over the grind marks. That way you don't need to put any extra holes in your receiver. You re-use the factory hammer spring, and the kit you got contains the new disco. spring with the trigger.
  14. Go to a hobby shop and get some of this: Z7 Debonder It won't hurt the finish.
  15. I like the show a lot. Most people's complaints seem to revolve around how it's dumbed down or glossed over on the technical details that gunnies would find interesting, but it has to be that way. If they went into all the technical details (not to mention the time constraints of cramming a week long build into about 15 minutes when you factor in the commercials) it would make the non-gun folks change the channel. Maybe Will can just install a live webcam in his shop so we can watch all the unedited and "boring" stuff the Discovery channel leaves on the cutting room floor. Like headspac
