  1. WarHammer has 400 reasons not to buy an Arsenal! For me there's no reason for a muzzle brake, an AK kicks like a 2 year old girl. So all you get is a really loud gun. But get what you want, I will say if the Arsenal isn't EXACTLY how you want it then it's not worth the price.
  2. Why would they sell it if it wasn't safe? Wouldn't know about dropping it, I don't drop guns. Not trying to sound like a jerk, just saying if you know how to handle a gun then you have nothing to worry about. If you want it safer push that ugly lever on the right side of the receiver up. Sorry! Man what is it with the internet that turns me into a smart ass?
  3. Sounds to me like the hunting/sporting rifles will be going down due to more production. The thought of getting a 223 for cheap just made my pants move a little
  4. Saying a AK is an AK is an AK is Ridiculous !!!!!!! Arsenal SGL's are great detailed Ak's and that's why they cost more.....If you want to convert a Saiga Sporter yourself that's cool, but to be negative about Arsenal is just flat out ridiculous. How was I negative about Arsenal? Cause I wasn't worshipping them? I was asking for information. This is akin to going on a Harley forum and asking what's so great about Harley Davidson and getting "because it's a Harley" in response. I was just a newb looking for an education, no need to call me ridiculous
  5. I personaly like to take a DIY approach. Its not for everyone and I understand that, but I certainly like to push people to try. How many people had second thoughts the first time taking a drill bit and grinder to a firearm? theres a taboo there. And having completed a basic conversion how many users here beam with pride at the work they have done and how it was easier than they thought? I just don't like to hear that anything in stock form is perfect. I'm a habitual tinkerer, and nothing is done to me untill I've had my grubby little paws into it. +1, after my conversion Red Jacket

Buds is great, bought plenty of guns from them. The Zastava looks good imo. The only thing would be that rail, I wouldn't trust it. I wonder if you would have compliance problems if you added high cap magazines. Isn't it in sporting condition or does it already have US parts?
  7. Build quality, got it. I'll officially bow out now that bullets are flying. (still don't think it's worth $800)
  8. That is the common misconception. The more AKs you handle, the more you will realize it. My point there was there's nothing pretty about an AK, imo, and that they're desired for reliability and cheap ammo...and some nostalgia Hey if money was no issue wouldn't we be shooting a 6.8 gas piston AR at paper and a 50BMG at squirrels? Guess I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but come on, are we really supposed to use the word beautiful when talking about an AK?
  9. I may get dogged for this, and I'm ok with that, but I just don't get it. To me an AK is an AK is an AK. Sure there are differences cosmeically and mechanically but it pretty much sounds like someone's $500 build runs the same as a $800 Arsenal. Or maybe I'm wrong because I've only just got my feet wet in the AK world. Like I said, I'm ok with being the whipping boy, just throw some facts at me with the flogging!
  10. But if they just send them full auto with a 75 round drum it'll be easier for me! Some people will never be satisfied
  11. Here's a good shot of the hole for the pg nut. I used the CSS that attaches the grip to the trigger guard for two reasons. I wasn't quite sure either when I started ordering parts, and I really liked the billet/angled look to the trigger guard. If there's still confusion it's the square whole in front of the screw with the washer
  12. First thing I'll grab is my 1911 and tac light followed by the 357 and then the 9mm. As for my 12g, I don't like leaving rounds in the tube so in that scenario the shotty is too slow. Now if it was an S12 where I could just slap a mag in it's a different story. But I still prefer 8 rounds of 45acp. Soft point ammo or not I'm just not comfortable with any rifle round going off in the house
  13. For $200 they better be unbeatable!
  14. Iremoved the dust cover and fired it. The BHO was putting a bit of pressure on the hammer spring so that when it fired the hammer spring moved in from the right side and either bound the trigger or wasn't putting enough back pressure on it because the rear hook on the disconnect wasn't backing off the hammer when I let off the trigger. Took the BHO out and she ran like a top. Now I have to decide if I want to mod the BHO or leave it out. If I left it out should I figure a way to plug that slot by the trigger? Thanks everyone for the help!
  15. My buddy says if I go with him when it's not open to the public it's different. But back on track, the hammer has been modified for the BHO. If I do pull it off (giggity) will there be too much side to side play on the hammer? Or is a little side to side just another "AK shoots every time" thing?
  16. Yup, modified G2 from CSS http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-714/Saiga-Rifle-Conversion-Kit/Detail
  17. You guys are killin me! I pushed myself to the point of rage to get that in! But the only reason I wanted to keep it is cause the range I go to is run by democrats that are deathly afraid of closed chambers. Besides the fact that we have to stand behind the line when the range is cold, if I wanted to shoot people I wouldn't do it where EVERYONE else has a gun...but it's their rules and I respect that and note that the photo in Red Star's post is not my gun, but in the photo I posted does my hammer spring look correct?
  18. You mean the BHO lever? Yes it's pistol grip
  19. Yep, installed the spring. It's a CSS G2 kit. Rifle was never fired before the conversion and the hammer sets every time when cycled by hand. How would I clean the gas ports? I know, dumb question but I didn't look when I had the tube off. Got some gun scrubber and Rem Oil. At the office now so I can't look. Thanks everyone
  20. Last nights fun, until I hit problems with the conversion..but still fun..
  21. Here's what I got goin inside...
  22. Well I put the first rounds thru her last night and I got a problem. I pull the bolt back, let it go, round chambers and fires. Spent shell ejects, new round chamber and nothing. I was stupid and didn't pull the cover off to see if the hammer was locked back but I'm pretty sure it's not. Then I manually cycle the bolt, live round ejects, let the bolt go and the same thing repeats. It's like something is stopping the bolt from going all the way back when fired. Any ideas? Should I hand cycle the bolt a thousand times to see if it loosens up?
  23. Is it me or would clamping those things on a barrel throw shot consistency all to hell?
  24. I stopped watching it when they started to get clicky and vote off good shooters to get rid of competition. I wanted to give it another try but don't know when it's on anymore. I did catch Son's of Guns last night, that Mk 19 was pretty sweet
