  1. I'm doing one and after extensive research I've discovered that the only way to get one low enough to work with the factory front sight is to make one, which is more work and expense than it's worth. There's also an issue with topcover movement that you'll need to address ... My solution was to go with the Krebs KTR GB/FSB combo, I have to have a shim turned down to make it work. It sits .170 higher than the standard AK sight which will allow the use of a HK rear sight ... I'm not a big fan of JB welding parts to a rifle, you might want to rethink that, the rear sight should be blind welded

  3. We know what the Vortex is smart guy. Usually when someone says they can't see their front sight it's because they want to cowitness their sight with the irons, hence the reason we offered an alternative idea to your problem. You say the Strikefire has a "built in mount" which the Strikefire doesn't have, it might help to know if you have the Hunting mount or the AR15 mount. It sounds like you have the AR15 mount but since you left that information out of your description it's hard to help you. If you don't have the AR 15 mount you might try that one but I think your screwed no matter what sin
  4. About the only way you'll get any scope to cowitness is to use an Ultimak railed gas tube. Kalinka is making a side mount specifically for an Aimpoint. Other than that your outta luck ...
  5. Quote from Patrick on the AK Forum - I think he was a bit perturbed at first but he is actually listening to the guys that will actually be buying his product so he gets a big thumbs up from me. I think it's better that he listen to his customers than bring out a product and have it completely flop and then become discouraged from developing any further products for the AK platform ...
  6. Is the right side the same as the current right side ? Does it move when activated by the left side? Nevermind, I just saw the pics on your site ...
  7. Hogue is most likely going back to the drawing board because of the negative reaction they've received so far. The new design may be closer to an AK100 series handguard ...
  8. Gas tubes arrived as described, good guy to deal with ...
  9. After having read Mike's in depth explanation I stand by my previous statement: "Dance with the one the brung ya" ...
  10. I have an opinion on this matter ... Where I'm from (Texas, LOL) we had a saying: "Dance with the one that brung ya" and it seems to me this Mike Davidson fella is the "One that brung ya". He was the guy who invested his money and figured out how to make drums that work well in the Saiga 12 and brought them to market. Now along comes Promag with a less than stellar reputation for having quality products and decides that they want a piece of the pie that Mike spent a lot of time and effort to develop and they stand to undercut his profit margin substantially. I think Mike deserves every di
  11. I don't know man, the Saiga lower is long and slim and not all that bad looking. The Hogue one looks more like the fat girl you might wake up with after a night of hard drinking, maybe cushy and fun to play with but you don't want to be seen with it ...
  12. That handguard is just fucking sad, sometimes I wonder what's going on in an engineer's mind to design something like that ...
  13. For the ACE stocks I definitely agree to go with the cut the tang model with the side screw mod. I wouldn't be looking for the mercury reducer to give a miracle reduction in recoil but it will cut it down ...
  14. My plan is to take an ACE stock and replace the 3/4" O.D. Delrin upper rod with a 3/4" O.D. aluminum tube. A 5/8" O.D. recoil reducer will fit inside a 3/4" tube and there's a company that will make a 5/8" recoil reducer to whatever length you need. I was planning on silver soldering the reducer into the tube so it doesn't move and so it's solid at both ends. I have some other projects ahead of this one but it's high on my list and I'm sure it will work. I put a 3/4" x 5" reducer in my 45/70 and it does a great job of dissipating the kick ...
  15. I'll take these: a. painted AMD 65 gas tube, nice condition 12 dollars shipped c. Saiga 308 Factory gas tube, new condition, 14 dollars shipped Send me your payment details ...
  16. It's also slotted on the left side for the retainer's sling attachment, which leaves a gap if there's no retainer to fill it. DPH makes one designed specifically for the Saiga for about half the price ... DPH Saiga Rifle Tri Rail
  17. It's absofuckinglutely disgusting what has become of our school systems and teachers ...
  18. Delrin is tough, it'll hold up. I'm taking one and replacing the Delrin with an aluminum tube with a mercury recoil reducer silver soldered inside it ...
  19. The "ACE Original Side Folding Skeleton Stock" uses a 3/4" solid Delrin rod as the upper tube, it says so on their site. I've also taken them apart, until I did I always thought they were aluminum like the first ones, the older types used a 5/8" aluminum tube with a plastic cover ...
  20. Count me in, one less conversion part to have to buy and if I don't use it I'll pass it on ...
  21. ...Really? PM sent. I'd be interested in a link also. The last set I saw was around a year ago from an individual and I didn't pounce on it quick enough ...
  22. IF you can find the parts then the hardest part I can see is cutting the slot for the left side thumb selector and some minor fitting. It would be nice if some American company could produce these since they seem to be in fairly high demand ... Here's the parts ...
