How much???
semper299 replied to TO THE FLOOR IN A 63's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I only have 6 calibers, 3 rifle and 3 pistol. This is intentional as I want to keep my ammo simple. I keep at least 1000 rounds of each caliber, and I make sure I keep at least 10 mags of each rifle caliber. -
Shagman, if you have a threaded barrel, it should be pretty noticable when you look under the shroud. If not already threaded, I would cut the entire shroud off and thread the barrel as far as you can to the FSB. Then use the crush washer to time the brake. Dinzag also recommends using teflon tape to help with this.

HA! I see what you did there. Nicely played sir

I am with ya Dubya. I can't pay the current prices, but as soon as they dip below $500, I am going to do a 103 config. I have one with wood furniture, so I really want to do one in poly with a side folder. I had several chances to do this about 6 mos ago, but kept finding other things to spend money on. Really regretting that about now, but I figure prices will come out of the stratosphere later this year. Or not, and I will pay out the ass for another Saiga because I reallllly want another one.

SOLD pending payment -
Sounds simple enough. Thanks, and I agree with Hero, looks great man.

I did not keep mine. I put it in using the dental floss method, but did not like it hitting my trigger finger and promptly removed it.

What part did you have to dremel on the handguard? Just curious because this is probably the handguard I will go with when I convert one of these bad boys. Are you happy with it?
-
I converted a 7.62, and planned on doing a 5.45. However, I am well stocked on mags and ammo for the 7.62, which is pricey to do, so I doubt I will do a 5.45. I will do another 7.62 when the prices come back to earth. One thing to consider, I did not own a .30 cal rifle, which is why I did the 7.62. I have several AR's so if just did not seem to make sense getting a 5.45. But that was my situation. I converted a 7.62, and planned on doing a 5.45. AIM Mags
semper299 replied to semper299's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
Lone eagle, I bought the same ones back when they were 9.95 each or 8.95 for 10+. I got 10, and like u wish I had bought more. I did pick up 10 polish steel mags from classic the day after sandy hook. Good mags. -
Reloading supplies are pretty scarce. I suspect they will be back soon enough. At least sooner than normal priced loaded ammo. Fewer of us than regular ammo buyers.

Yeah, that's rediculas. The pills will be back, just give it a couple of months.

Softening Market?
semper299 replied to Big John!'s topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I don't think we will get a full on AWB, but I do see some tightening. I think drums and maybe 30 rounders will be easy picking. Unless we have another major incident, the all kind of legislation hell will break loose. -

What to do with the BHO lever on my gun?
semper299 replied to jbremount's topic in Saiga Rifle Conversions
Ahhh, I see. Never thought about it walking. Yeah, same here, never had a problem, but I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the explaination! -
Yes, sinkhole is a great word to describe the addiction that is Saiga. Just when you finish one, you will be ready to start another. So many calibers and so many options of how to dress them.... I have a 7.62 with wood furniture.... Now I want to do another in black polymer with a skeleton stock. When they dip below $500, I'll get one. Not sure when that will happen, but I am patient.

I got an email from AIM that their surplus Eastern European steel AK47 mags were back in stock. I got this email at 1640 yesterday (02-07), didn't see email until about 1730, and they showed sold out. The price looked to be $14.95, which is amazing given the climate. Anyone get some of these yesterday?

What to do with the BHO lever on my gun?
semper299 replied to jbremount's topic in Saiga Rifle Conversions
Yes, you can NOT use it. MANY converter's choose to ditch it (myself included). I'm a fan of "simple" and that piece simply does not belong in there. It only serves as a "chamber view" function, because as stated, it does NOT function as a LRBHO. It was added to satisfy importation regulations and is not part of the AK's design. It is EXTREMELY easy to ditch that. Either 1) use an UNMODDIFIED G2 FCG, or 2) use a washer to take the place of the BHO when using Saiga specific hammers. Hey Brian, I am using a modified g2 and did not reinstall the BHO. Did this about a year ago, no problems with -

semper299 replied to MTRamMan's topic in Saiga Rifle Conversions
I have same Saiga. The BHO only works if you engage it. IMHO, it is worthless and gets in my way. I did not reinstall it, and will never miss it. When you remove the old trigger guard, the bottom of the receiver will need to be painted. Most people use Dupli-Color Engine Enamel Low Gloss Black DE1634. It seems to be the best match to the factory paint. Get it at your local automotive store. The holes left in the receiver after you move the trigger group can be filled with plastic hole plugs from Lowes. I used blue loctite on everything. The red stuff is pretty strong, and takes alo -
I have heard of people using spare bolts from AK 74 kits in their Saiga, but I do not have personal experience with this. There are two reviews for that bolt you found, and one said it worked in his Arsenal, and the other said it didnt work in his WASR.

Tapco G2 FCG is not intended for the Saiga platform.

I would think they mean in the sporter config, but not sure. It has worked fine in mine. -

22 LR is starting to inch its way back down. I never thought I would see that round hard to find and expensive.
