  1. That is a nice set-up on your barrel components Kman. Very clean and functional. From all of the interest on here, it sounds like you have a business case for a start up company. I know I would sure be interested in some of your products if you did start manufacturing the various components.
  2. Azhonkey is a building God!!! I've always loved his switch barrel setup. Hell even the carrying case added to the overall cool factor. Over on Gunco there was one guy that became a bit of a stalker trying to buy it, or pay him to build another, IIRC.
  3. After doing a little research, I think the PPS43 mags will be fine with 9mm. The recoil spring /weight of the bolt will strip the rounds from the mag WAY better than my thumb.
  4. So, in keeping somewhat on topic, I picked up an already converted IZ109(?) 19" barrel NIB (other than the conversion)S12 about 2 years ago. Haven't fired it much, but what I did shoot was all high brass. Biggest issue was feeding, as the rounds were catching on the hood as described. I've done a bit of work to it using information gleaned from this forum (Thank you all.) and it seems to have cleared up most of the issues. I really just need to get some time to "break it in", as I don't think I've put more than 50 rounds through it in the last 2 years. Now I am looking at the 3 vs 4 port
  5. Yooper and/or Post Apocolyptic, what brake is that on your respective S12's? TIA,
  6. On the 9mm front, I was looking at changing the barrel on my blowback 7.62x25 pistol build, and running 9mm in the same PPS43 mags. Seems to "feed" (with my thumb pushing the rounds) ok from the left side, but not the right with the 9mm FMJ. Not sure why. It is almost completely locked up. Tried again with x25 to make sure it wasn't a mag issue, and it fed smoothly from both sides. I could have sworn that others have used the PPS43 mags with 9mm?
  7. Master FLG, huh? Very interesting weapon. Thanks for the info.
  8. The way I understand it, once you remove the thumbhole stock and put the "evil" features back on, then it does become subject to 922R compliance.
  9. Kman, that is by far the nicest custom PSL I have EVER seen, and I am biased as hell toward my own custom PSL based Tabuk clone. Best Wayne's World impression here - "We're not worthy!!!!!" Damn that is drool worthy as all get out!!!!!!!! I too have modded a couple of Lahti mags, but I can't get them to feed reliably. How does yours feed, and how far down the back did you weld the mag lug on, to get your feed angle correct? TIA,
  10. Armor, I like that!!! Is that one of yours, or just a pic from the web? If it's yours, I'd love to see/hear more about it. Looks like an HK grip/trigger guard?
  11. Armor, not criticizing just wondering, why not just use a Galil safety/selector? IIRC, APEX had some awhile back.
  12. The only one of my weapons with an upswept charging handle is my Galil, and I have mixed feelings about it. I DO like not having to turn the rifle over as far to reach the charging handle, but I don't like the too rough texture of the knob, as well as the fact that it's fixed. I would prefer something like the gas piston style knobs, or if it's knurled super heavily, allow the knob to spin on an axle. Just my personal preference I guess. And no, I do not have soft girly hands.
  13. Damn, those are badass!!!! I like the left side charging handle as well. Would like to try one on for size before modifying my own weapon though.
  14. I vote: x54R, x25, and 9x19. Definitely Bizon style on the 9 mm!!!!!!! I've been thinking of trying to build a copy using a Calico mag as the starting point. One of these days. I already built two x25's. One gas op and one blowback, but it would be nice to have one straight "From Russia with Love". While not a Saiga, Centerfire Systems is selling the x54R VEPR for $1150.00. Definitely badass. Would also love to see a highly accurized version in .338 Lapua Magnum. It would require a beefy front trunnion to handle the chamber pressure, as well as massive lugs.
  15. Damn near took my left thumb off this morning with a razor scraper. Freaking OUCH!!!!

ER visit? Stitches? Don't worry, the govt. will be along shortly to protect you. They will outlaw high capacity razor scrapers for you.

Wow! this just happened to me also. I was cutting drywall on Thursday and took a huge chunk off. Would have required stitches only there is nothing to stitch back. I hope you heal up.

  16. Smartbomb is correct, building a one off 9 mm for yourself for under $450.00 is actually pretty easy, because you aren't factoring in your labor hours the way you would if you were a business. Now to actually build them for Atlantic as a business, you could lower the cost of the components required to build them, by buying in bulk, but then once you factor in your labor, they will probably be more in the $$650.00 - $700.00 range. I'm planning to do a 9 mm blowback build similar to pic posted on post #8 of this thread. With the way my 7.62x25 blowback runs, I have no doubt that a 9 mm o
  17. Got 2 7.62x25 AK pistols that I built. One blowback, and one gas op using Doubletapme's write-up. I used an Erie Ordinance Disposal magwell and bolt for the blowback, and a PPS43 magwell welded into the receiver on the gas op. Blowback works great. Gas op has some minor feed issues, that I think I have worked out. Doubletapme's build used a single stack PPSH41 mag which in retrospect would have been the way to go. I was trying to get out cheap by using the same mags for both builds, and went with the double stack. It feeds much better from the right side of the mag than the left. I have done
  18. I'm in the Upstate, Greenville County area. 29687. (Used to live in Myrtle Beach, and now I "might" be moving to either Charleston or Savannah due to job issues.) Hey UncleJake, I'm in Taylors. About 3 miles away from Haywood Mall. Divorced my first wife at the Pickens County Courthouse, so I have been to Pickens. I'm a Saiga fan, and have an S-12, but mostly I'm an AK home builder, from mild to wild. Yugo's, Hungarians, Egyptians, Bulgys, etc... I like building unusual stuff, like a PSL kit based Yugo style Tabuk in 7.62x54R, couple of 7.62x25 Bulgy AK based pistols using PPS43
  19. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!! How ridiculous. Let's ban something, and we don't even know what the hell it is!?!?!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?! How do the CSS barrel shrouds mount? I've been thinking about one, but without seeing one up close it's hard to decide. TIA,
  20. Black adder, that's a nice MAK90 conversion. I did the same to my second one, as well as installed the side scope mount. Iron Wood Designs rocks!! Yours looks fantastic!!!!!! FL Thunder Stick, that is definitely a drool worthy collection!!!!!!!!!! That 56s is just freaking georgeous!!!!!!!!!!!! To the OP, that is WAY freaking expensive. I say pick up a MAK90 and convert it the same as Black Adder did, and you will have one of the best variants out there. As previously mentioned, excellent fit and finish, smooth action, thicker receiver, etc....
  21. Century is hit and miss. I'd much rather buy a kit from APEX for $185.00 and build one myself. If you got a good one then you'll love it. It's a great rifle. The more 74's that I build, the more I'm becoming partial to the 5.45x39. Hell, I hardly ever shoot my 47's any more. I'd love to hear a range report on it, if you have time.
  22. BTW, you can e-mail me direct if you're interested at: Jetmd928@hotmail.com

  23. Hey 1200FT, I'm in the Taylors area of Upstate S.C., and have built approximately 20 rifles/pistols on the Kalashikov platform, so if you need any local help with tooling and or advice, give me a shout. I see that you're shortening your barrel. No worries with the gas system unless you are cutting it back so short that it physically won't allow your front sight, etc... to be install...
