I used a torch and heated the receiver in sections till it was cherry red then I dipped it in oil i did that whole process twice.I don't know how well that treated it but that's all i had access to.
-
all i used was hand drill, torch, hammers, modified bolt cutters, hand file, dremal, sand paper, high temp engine paint.

I heat treated the entire receiver, rails, pin holes and I used a dead blow hammer to install the barrel.I know allot of people will be against this method but it worked great I just used a spare barrel nut to protect the barrel and threads and started with a rubber mallet and once that quit making progress i switched to a dead blow and everything worked out fine.I took it out Saturday and put 140 rounds through it and it performed flawlessly.

I used a 80% polish blank

I bought a maadi kit from atlantic a couple weeks ago and finished it last friday. this was my first attempt at a kit build and i didnt have much in the way of tools.I meant to take pictures of riveting but when i got to that i didnt stop until i was finished with the whole rifle.the hardest part for me was drilling all the holes in the blank and welding in the rails.everything was done with hand tools.someone will call me on my mistake i'm sure

Any ever take the Front Sight Block off of a Century Arms AKM 60?
red308 replied to ManOnTheHIll's topic in Other AK Rifles
I used two pipe clamps and a u shaped piece of 1/2 steel plate shaped to the od of my barrel just behind the sight and a 12" long piece of round stock with with another piece of 1/2 steel plate to clamp to on the other end of the round stock.I put a brass washer between the barrel crown and bar stock so not to mess it up under pressure.this was on my s308.Hope this helps -
WHAT are you talking about, the guy was asking a question ABOUT doing it. You DO NOT have to have permission to talk about doing it or to ask for advise as to the best way to go. So, unless you actually know what the hell you're talking about, don't practice law here. In response to the OP's question. Yep, it'll tend to make the bolt & carrier recoil a lots harder, possibly striking the rear trunion. I have threaded my Sx39 for a can, tested it with a friends can, the recoil, TO ME, wasn't as bad as without it, but you will get more gas and blow back. I only ran about 20 rounds thru it

If they would have let me shoot them I would've payed the 300$ for the helicopter, supplied the bullets and payed for the beer then they wouldn't have to worry about spending.

Before you suppress any weapon you want to make sure you have all the correct paperwork and legalities covered before you start thinking about it.

Im prety sure he said (in a previous thread), that there is no gas piston and the gas block is welded, thus making it a straight pull back non semi auto. Among other uk requirements. its got about 3" cut off the gas piston and the gas port is welded up at the point it meets the gas tube and thats it..........no mag capacity restrictions or anything like that, all parts are 100% Russian. The way i see it is a straight pull AK is better than no AK!.......... I agree with you there.nice AK

It rains allot in Oregon so if I want to shoot I don't let any weather hold me up do to the fear of my rifle getting wet. -

red308 replied to TheDarkHorse's topic in Saiga Weapons - General Discussion
I bought my s308 with no intention of converting it then decided later to convert so its definitely a yes! -
I bought my blank from AK-builder and it is not pre-drilled or heat treated. You don't have to go through an FFL if you get them that way

I have a HF drill press I think I payed 60.00 for it new and it has worked great for two years but I think I have been very lucky with it.

I bought one of these kits from Atlantic two weeks ago and A 80% polish receiver and a chrome lined barrel. I just started drilling on the receiver tonight.I think it will take me a couple weeks to finish it ill take pics as i go this is my first attempt at a complete AK build it should be allot of fun and informative as I go.I would be interested in trading the bayonet for a couple AK mags if anyone is interested. The other thing is if you don't have the tools for a build they will cost you way more than the kit to get tooled up properly.

I would also like to know, ive also thought,I have also read,I would also need, you might want to slow down on thinking your going to build your own rifle with all those questions and insecurities it sounds like you want your hand held or maybe someone to magically build this mythical rifle for you good luck sweetie.

Just because it is marked 5.56 doesn't necessarily mean the chamber really is 5.56. That is a proven fact in the AR world. I've read several evaluations about Panther Arms/DPMS rifles not having a true 5.56 NATO chamber. This could be an issue running something like M855 ammo which originally was a load for the M249 SAW. It is hotter than M193 and the over pressure generated by it in a non-mil-spec rifle could result in a catastrophe failure. If you are running nothing but .223 Remington go ahead and buy a cheap plinker for all I care. Not to increase any confusion but, if its a 223
