  1. Not yet, which is what I'm trying to work the kinks out for. However, I bought it dressed up in Tapco T6 intrafuse set-up. Speaking of which... I see you have some for sale, can the stock be used in conversions?
  2. Alright I rechecked it with a mirror on a paper clip and the front one is about 1/3 blocked, and the other one is just barely blocked. I poked another paper clip through the ports and they are cleared. So I'm not really sure if it's worth filing, but there is some minor blockage. I will remove the block, make sure the ports are the correct size and then work from there. The Saiga is fairly new but I've put around 350 rounds through it, mainly Remington express long range and Winchester super target. Under 50 slugs and buck. What I'm not sure about is how to go about the filing if I do. Sho
  3. Yeah, I do not intend to mess with plugs or springs. My problem is with the gas system so I will start there. I may polish the gun too, but I would send it into a pro from around these forums. I've never used a dremel in my life, so my Saiga is a bad place to start, haha. @ sapper1371usmc: I have not taken the gas block off yet, but have used a mirror to look around and felt around with a dental pick. I will follow your advice though and make triple sure they are in fact blocked.
  4. Alright thanks guys, just wanted some reassurance before messing around with it. Doesn't really seem like there is any other solution.
  5. Alright, so I scoured the forums and used the search function and can't really figure out how to fix my problem. First let me explain, I understand how to open up the ports, but I could not find anything on how to unblock ports that are obscured by the gas block (except the "D-mod", which many knowledgeable people said NOT to do). I tried taking pictures of my situation but my camera is infuriatingly crappy. So, the first picture is the best I could get, all you can see is one port. There are in fact, 4 ports, but one is nearly fully blocked, one is half blocked, and one is BARELY clear. T

Welcome. Lots of good information and helpful people around here.
  7. Good luck man, I'm in a similar situation. Hopefully all goes well for you.
  8. Yeah the Saiga's don't come with a LRBHO in the states. The modified BHO from CSS is just for ease of installation, it doesn't do anything different than the standard one. Your build looks awesome, glad you got a Saiga without obstructed ports (lucky). The MD-20 drum is what really makes the Saiga 12 shine. So much fun. As I usually ask, how much did the whole setup cost?
  9. I may just buy this, my current brake sucks. Hard to beat $50 shipped.
  10. Good video, although your editing was tripping me out (I'm possibly drunk).
  11. Man that's cool that you let that kid in on your shooting. A lot of the people I bump into at the local shooting spot aren't like that at all. I love letting people experience the awesomeness that is the Saiga 12. Good stuff.
  12. I voted yes, but it's entirely dependent on what type of ammo. @slippingaway: good post man.
  13. They're pretty bad. Congratulations on the new Saiga 12. Just curious, how much did it cost (if you don't mind sharing) ?
  14. Damn dude, nice Saiga 12. Good job.
  15. I'd say the only downside is the rising price of new Saiga 12's. You don't even want to know how much I paid...
  16. I will not take any tool to my Saiga without at least making a post to make sure I'm going about it right. Seems like for every DIY post you see on here there is someone else saying "dear god no, DO NOT do that!" Thanks again for your help man.
  17. Alright, I didn't remove the gas block (yet) but I broke a mirror and made a makeshift looking device. There is indeed a fourth hole that is partially blocked. This post seems to sum up what I would need to do to fix this problem: "http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/33836-modification-to-repair-fte-issues-on-saigas-with-blocked-gas-ports/" I'm not really too concerned about fixing this right away, as my gun can handle some cheap birdshot already.
  18. Mines is exactly the same so I'd say you're fine.
  19. First 4 serials #'s: H114, I assumed "11" was for 2011. I did some feeling around with a dental pick, and although I can only see 3 holes it feels like there is a 4th hole obscured closest to the muzzle end. I'd say half of it is covered? I cannot see it no matter what the angle I look. I'll try to rig some sort of mirror for 100% confirmation. @Neph: I've been pretty obsessive with my cleaning of the internals of this gun, but I had not taken off the hand guard until recently and was shocked to see the rust seeping out. I think I put some oil on the puck and rod once though... Thanks f
  20. Alright thanks again for the responses. I'm starting to think I have a fourth port blocked, since I have three that are perfectly visible but it's a 2011 model. So I'm probably going to take the block off after doing some more forum-browsing on the matter. Then I can also see what is up with what appears to be rust seeping out. This should be my last post with "newbie" questions. After I put another 100 or so rounds through this thing I am going to convert it and post some pictures and actually start contributing to the forums!
  21. Oh yeah, I am not the type to do any serious fixing or modifying myself. Hmm... maybe I should take it apart and see if the fourth port is blocked. Thank you for the heads up. The gun doesn't function flawlessly, but it will cycle #7 Winchester Super Target birdshot (which surprised me). #8 of the same brand fails 100% of the time though.
  22. 1.) I have read a lot about how generally there are issues with friction inside the Saiga 12. For instance, The bolt doesn't slide forward that smoothly, and if I pull it back halfway and let go, the bolt head/extractor ALWAYS gets caught and needs a slap to fully close. This doesn't really bother me that much, but is this putting excessive strain and wear on the gun? I will hold off shooting and send this in for some polishing if that would increase the life of my gun. My number one concern is increasing the lifespan of this gun as much as possible. I plan to shoot this thing to hell and
  23. Oh yeaaaah, just ordered one now. Thanks guys, you're awesome.
  24. Well that is defiantly reassuring, I haven't had any issues like that, it's just a little rough edge. Thanks for your input, can't wait to convert mine, this was the only thing holding me back.
  25. I hope I can get my hands on one of these. I'll be refreshing your website all day Tuesday.
