  1. The SGL series is converted by FME and distributed by K-Var. It was not imported in its current configuration, and has a K-Var FCG. I could be wrong, but I don't think this is accurate information. As far as I understand it, these shotguns come into the country in pistol grip configuration with all Russian parts, including the FCG. All of them arrive in the SGL12-07 configuration. FIME turns these into SGL12-08 & SGL12-09 by adding a U.S. hand guard to the '08 and a bit of rail to the '09. This means that the 09 only has one U.S. part and you will need to swap out parts i
  2. 1 - LOVE my Rugers (I own 4 of them at present) and the stance the company is taking "this time". 2 - I'm not sure what model that is, but other than the mag and the Marlin docs in the photo, I would swear it was a 10/22 TD copy...? More details for the uninformed, please. edit: Also, my 10/22 is way more "pimp" than that thing. he he he This guy loves it.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32FgaIb66bM As for high cap mags, Promag makes some and they function but seem nowhere near as durable as the bx-25s. Because the marlins are designed to take skinny single sta

  4. Just another reason to invest in quality mags if you need to rely on them. I love AGP and SGM magazines, but in my opinion they are range mags. These are still in stock at Legion. http://legionusainc.com/saiga-12-izhmash-original-non-magwell-magazine-8-round.html
  5. I'm no expert, but my first thought is that your scope mount is probably not holding zero. There's no way that a rifle shooting 1" groups at 50 yards can't hit paper at 100. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's probably not the rifle.
  6. No, AIM is on the "good list" of companies that didn't gouge during the panic. I don't think they are going to start now. It's 2160 rounds or under 17 cents per round.
  7. Edited....whoops...thought you were looking for 5.45 and included link to a guy selling a bunch of them. I reread the title and saw 5.56 and realized I screwed up.
  8. Make sure you don't deploy the folding stock until the last possible moment. Then awkwardly try to look down the barrel with it tucked under your armpit before shouldering it properly. If time constraints force you to choose, be sure to deliver your catch phrase before swinging the shotgun towards the target. That's the how the pros do it.
  9. It is an outrage! (skip to 9 minutes...47 seconds)
  10. I think Monty's correct....WASR (no dimples)
  11. They are definitely the lightest weight magazine I've ever held. They are so light that they actually feel kind of cheap. If it weren't for people reporting good things about their durability, I would have written them off. I haven't beat them up at all, but they lock in tight and look good. Time will tell if they are tough enough for anything beyond range duty. They're cheap enough to experiment with though.
  12. You wouldn't need to modify it to take a drum or longer magazine, but you would be out of compliance if you did so without swapping out the requisite parts. The only difference between the 07 and 08 is the hand guard. For what it's worth, it's a nice hand guard with minimal slop, and has never gotten too hot, despite my best efforts. Plus, it's your first compliance part on your way to bigger mags. That said, there are a lot of good hand guards and rails out there, so if you've got your eye on a different one, then the 07 would make the most sense.
  13. I've never seen what looks like that coat hanger where your twisted wire hammer spring should be. Pardon my ignorance but is that what sporterized Saigas come in with?
  14. As I understand it...Arsenal is not selling Russian guns anymore. People speculate about why (issues with the Bulgarians vs. Izhmash etc..) but they have created a new company called FIME Group to import/convert Russian weapons. This means that if you want an SGL12, you'll have to get a FIME gun from KVAR. Every example I have seen is the same quality as Arsenal, and uses the same components. If you go with a FIME gun, you'll get a shotgun that came into the country already "converted". More accurately, it never had the goofy rear trigger installed, so you won't have any welded
  15. This showed up in my inbox this morning as part of their newsletter. Good photos and a good write up. It's got me thinking about getting one of these as .22LR won't be cast out of unobtainium forever. (let's hope anyway) Anybody have any personal experience with these? http://www.alloutdoor.com/2013/09/24/ak47-experience-recoil/ AK-47 experience minus the recoil Training utility of GSG AK47-22Posted September 24, 2013 in Shooting by Oleg Volk When I got my first 7.62×39 rifle, an SKS, the low cost of ammunition was one of main attractions. Surplus went for a dim
  16. Never again...and they used to get quite a bit of money from me years ago.
  17. No problem at all. It's nice to be able to pay you guys back a little for all the great info I've gleaned from this site.
  18. Which raises the question...why aren't there any Saigas in 54R?
  19. SGAmmo is supposed to get more GT in stock next month. It's the same price as this Tula deal but you'll have to pay for your own shipping. It's a superior round though, and worth the extra expense of a couple of cents per cartridge. You can sign up on their site to be notified when it comes in.
  20. I could be wrong, but in my experience I don't think Cabela's has a standard backorder system that you can sign up for. The only backorders I've ever had from Cabela's was when something showed in stock but was oversold. Once a product shows "sold out" there's no way to back order it. Sportsman's Guide on the other hand is the king of back orders. They'll sell you stuff that a friend of a friend told them might be in stock next year and make you wait.
  21. I'd bet I'm not the only one that remembers picking up cases of Wolf for $99.00. It even had sealed bullets and maybe even primers back then if I remember correctly.
  22. Another ammo deal heads up... This is the same price it was at my LGS last fall. It doesn't say which brand, but I'd guess it's either Wolf or Tula. I hope this helps somebody out. (edited to fix graphic)
  23. The same thing happened to me last winter when I first ran across this same deal. I placed an order that showed in-stock but when I got the receipt, it showed back order. They ended up sending it about a week later. I hope you're as lucky.
