  1. My wife recently asked me if there were any types of guns we should be stocking up on in case of future bans as an investment. This was when I was about to try to pass the idea of a couple Remingtons and Brownings.

  3. There are gun laws and there are anti-gun laws. BIG difference. Bill Ruger couldn't tell the difference, and wanted gun bans so that they would corner the market for the Mini-14. He later realized how deceived he was. Of course he deceived himself more than anyone else did. I would be happy to write gun laws, such as ones that put someone in jail for criminally misusing a firearm, limit or prohibit access by non-citizens, and give LE the resources to fight the illegal trade of arms stolen or illegally imported for criminal use. Gun laws should also PROTECT the right to own and use
  4. Now that certainly interests me! I would be thinking about 1.5" for something on the side of a buttstock, and maybe 1" for something that would go on a buttplate, grip, or handguard. I wouldn't say my furniture would be exhibition grade, but commemorative would be a go. Feel free to contact me, as I'd be happy to discuss the possibility. My plan is to approach these organizations to see if they would be amenable to having their logo used on a stock sold professionally. Even if they didn't, I could still sell unmarked stocks with a donation included to them.
  5. Volume and uniformity are the main things that affect doing stocks in batches or not. When I did a grip here, a handguard there, and a stock set about every month, and my ETA was as short as 3 weeks at some points, it made more sense to get the items done, photographed, and in the hands of the buyers. In roughly a month's time I received about ten orders, which makes everything different. In that bunch there are plenty of variations but plenty that are similar too, and the basic processes are the same. A metal inlay would be exactly what I'd like to use if they were available.
  6. I don't know what Cho's literary, entertainment, religious, or family influences were. But the kids who shot up Columbine were not just rejects. They actively served and worshipped Satan. I was made fun of, ostracized, teased, you name it. What did I do? I grew up, learned about technology, and now call myself a nerd with a smile on my face.
  7. The past year and a half have been an interesting story for my specialized items for Saiga and other AK type firearms. I have made and sold enough to keep me very busy, and like a maniac I keep coming back for more. As soon as I think I'm slowing down I get more orders. Sometimes they just have a way of coming in droves. I currently have a stack of about 15 stock sets to complete. The fact that they all came in within a short window of time means that I can line them up and streamline their production. Quality is almost always improved through uniformity, and it improves average turnarou
  8. You had your chance with the 308. BTW, I got an enormous piece of maple to make that stock, and there's enough left for another just like it.
  9. Current order count is 14, after completing two just today. Most of these are complete stock sets, but there are a couple individual items. Two of these are nearing completion. Here's a quick "state of the union": Explanations will come later, but current ETA is best described as September. Instead of predicting an average case scenario I'm going to list a worst case one. Another reason for this is that I spend far less time per set when I do several at once. So I will wait until I have several orders or a certain amount of time passes to commence. This is the only way to stay cost-
  10. A large number of orders are stacked up ready for an aggressive production run with what will hopefully prove to be a more efficient method. Things haven't been moving as fast as I had hoped, but two orders have just been completed and another two are close behind. The first picture (if they appear in the right order) is made for the Saiga X39 and 223, featuring my modified version of the Saiga Rifle style handguard and a QPG stock using the factory Saiga buttplate. The second is a very special project, one I've been hoping to do for a while and now at last someone's decided to be the fi
  11. It doesn't take an upper level national party conspiracy. All it takes is a motivated individual with skills at indoctrination and other forms of mind control. The timing as far as I'm concerned is too close to be coincidence. Not just that the bills are proposed, but that they have been losing support until now. It doesn't have to be any elected official or party representative. If an organizer of the Million Mom March can hire a hitman to shoot somebody in revenge and think she's right (and hit the wrong guy in the process), somebody could corner and indoctrinate a troubled youth, fe
  12. My $0.02 is don't post a thing when you're in such an early stage and it's such a tricky subject. You don't know how it will turn out, or the (il)legal response from the ATF. Do your thing and keep it to yourself until you need to interact with others. If you HAVE to talk about it and just can't keep it in, I'd suggest talking privately to those people who have expressed an interest. Don't let yourself be overwhelmed with excitement about your own item.
  13. Blackjack buffers are better and cheaper in my experience. As far as cycling issues on a S-308, the hinged piece on the recoil rod needs to be removed and replaced with the blackjack buffer. I did that on my S-308 converted to G3 mags and it improved reliability.
  14. I developed a conversion to use G3 mags. It used an adaptor, but the adaptor alone doesn't allow use of G3 mags. It requires serious modification to the rifle and minor modification to the mags. It's primary advantage was that it was developed during the now expired AWB, and the mag mods were minor enough to use existing hi-caps.
  15. Future shortenings of such a rail may be easier if you fill the void first and then machine it away.
  16. Several more articles have been posted. You might find yourself in conversations where you have a chance to defend gun rights. Consider this a resource and use these points as you see fit.
  17. I agree with TG on the need for affordable military styled US made firearms. It can be done, it just isn't. They could be made more simply and more rugged than the AKs. They just aren't, partly because the shooting public is too darned picky. They'll say how much they want something, then when it comes out there's a finnicky reason they won't buy it. It doesn't help when manufacturers throw those finnicky reasons in for unknown reasons, ie including competitive options only on the high grade models.
  18. That's not stirring the pot, that's the Saiga forum for you. Two threads close together on the exact same subject.
  19. JoeKen has been selling and failing to deliver for years. If you received from him what you paid for, you're one of the lucky ones.
  20. Price would be $65 shipped for a single hook, $75 shipped for a double hook modified to work in a Saiga. I prefer to use FCGs I have on hand at the moment.
  21. Finally got it done. The Beta version of BattleRifle's Furniture Catalog. Input is welcome. This isn't all inclusive and it doesn't have pricing. But it puts the options on the table without making you and I sort through old threads with pictures. Basically it gives us each something to refer to with specific names of items. Again, this is just a beta version, so there will be room for improvement. The improved version might have part numbers and possibly even an order form. This one just has pictures and blabbering. 22. This thread could use a reboot. I want to learn more about these rifles.
  23. "you can also try a local machine shop, and have the foreman do the work on it, but it'll cost ya, Im sure." That would not be legal unless the shop had a gunsmith license, or unless you stayed there while the work was done.
