  1. The 500 degree semi gloss engine enamel seems to be a popular choice, you can get it at auto zone. I personally like the 1200 degree flat black, but you have to oven cure it. It's pretty tough afterward though. I bought pure acetone fingernail polish remover and used it to prep my painting surfaces. The dremmel to the gas tube will be one way to get it to fit I imagine, depends on how skilled you are at dremmel-fu. Go slowly taking a little off at a time and try to see if it fits pretty often. If you try to force it to fit it should deform a little in the areas that need to be grinded down.
  2. I've owned personally x4 mini 14 rifles. I have none now, for some of the reasons stated above, parts, unreliable high cap mags, etc. Spend a little more and get an AR if you have to get a .223 at all.
  3. I need one, who's got one they can get to me by Friday? I'll send funds tomorrow, or by paypal tonight.
  4. I set my chinese up with US made Stock(x1), pistol grip(x1), hand guard(x1) (ATI folding stock is x3 parts), gas piston(x1), op-rod(x1), and mag (x3), * 8 total US parts. The bayonet wasn't added by me, it was on it already, but you have to have 1 more US part to counter that evil feature. If I was going to have the barrel threaded or add a flash hider, I'd need one more US part. So when adding a detachable mag, folding stock etc., the rule (I think) is SKS without bayo add 7 US parts, with bayo add 8 US parts, with threaded barrel 9 US parts. Thats the best I could figure on them.
  5. Yes many people did pre-order during the last few months when about 1,250 were available. I have 2 on order (and 2 extra tension springs for back up but I'll most likely never need those). After this first run ships, some dealers will have them, but it will of course cost you more to buy one from them than it would have to pre-order. That's why Mike ran the pre-order for so long.
  6. +1, you'll not find anybody wanting to part with one here I wager.
  7. Depends on the scenario, I suggest a .22 rifle with a large ammo supply as it's a cheap plinker but will keep you in practice. For SHTF that's another story. Will you be stationary? You can only carry so much at a time. During such a scenario, with any successful excursion, you'll most likely be able to obtain more ammo.
  8. Will it fit the s.308 as is, or does it need to be modified?
  9. Cool, I'll be getting in touch with Dinzag for the HG retainer, and get a new front HG, any favorites? What works good on the .308? I think the UTG's look cool, but I don't want to dremmel too much. If there's one that's close I could dremmel it to make it work. Thanks guys.
  10. OK, I tried to look it up and couldn't find any definite answers. I might have missed the thread so don't shoot me. Is it "OK" to use the new high cap US made mags in an unconverted S308, the 16" model with the thumbhole type stock is what I want to use them in, just checking legality. Thanks for any help.
  11. Really both, what would be of more benefit when the next ban hits as far as value, and which would be of more benefit for SHTF scenario. Imagine ammo supply isn't an issue.
  12. I can get the .308 today for about $380, or I can wait to have an IZ-109 for $575 shipped and it will get here probably later next week. Given the choice which would you choose. I know right off the prices are too high, but I'm not waiting around this time, I've lost out before like that. I have x3 .308 rifles, and x1 S-12 and another moss. shotty. I need help in deciding which would be the better purchase for the long haul. Thanks for looking.
  13. It would take some work to make it weapon mounted, but if you only want to blind the individual first, check these out. http://www.blackbearflashlights.com/
  14. I just completed my order for a second drum, and two extra springs. I'm getting really excited now, it's close!!!!! BTW only 23 of the original run remain, don't wait around too long.
  15. Can the UTG be made to fit an s12? Will the Dinzag LHG retainer part work for that?
  16. I had the third port partially blocked in my IZ109. I took a grinding bit from a dremmel, bent it 90 deg., and locked into a set of vice grips. I took the gas piston out, and gently bored the gas ports out with my homemade S12 gasport openupper, and it worked great. It took about 45 minutes to get it really open as well as the others, then while I was at it, I opened them all up just a little. I also had to hold a mini maglite under my chin to get a good look at the ports. Not a precise way of going about it, but it worked very well. My IZ109 spits walmart el-cheapo 100 round boxes out and ask
  17. http://alliedarmament.homestead.com/50rounddrum.html This is it, it's coming in mid October 2007, though LOL. I feel their pain!!! Yeah, but you're giving updates though, and we appreciate it.

  19. OK I feel like an idiot now. I looked at a post several months old in this thread before I posted last night and was WAY off the current situation. I hate this friggin set up where you don't see all the replies to a post, only folders at the bottom. If it's a setting I can change please tell me how because it f***in sucks!
  20. I thought the prototype was completed, (the one pictured on the web page @ MD arms) and the first test unit to clear production for the first batch was due December 27 2007. I know the company didn't meet their own deadline they gave Mike, but what is this latest drum? Is it a prototype for a 23/4 and 3" drum combined, because I thought the 2 3/4" drum was almost ready to ship. I have the 1/2 deposit on one, and was about to put a deposit on a second one, but I won't if it's going to be 7-20-08 , (not 2007 as it's over, that lost me in the thread too) before the're ready. I maybe stumbled into
  21. LOL, I love the 4th and New Year's Eve. I know exactly what you mean Cobra, sounds like we're being invaded here in our little backwoods community. I heard what had to have been a 50 cal, about 4 times, as well as dozens of various booms from every direction, none of which I believe were fireworks. Somebody's holdin out on me, I gotta find out who's got a dang 50 cal around here because I want to shoot it.
  22. I believe today was the day set by the molding co. to have a test unit available to Mike If I remember correctly, hopefully it will be to standard.
  23. Has anyone trie dthis on an S12 yet? If not does anyone thnik it may or may not work, and why? Thanks for any help.
  24. Do those trigger cranks work? I've seen a few places that sell the G.A.T. trigger, a trigger crank not spring assist. I've never wanted to waste $50 to try one though.
  25. I believe Tromix has them for sale, check out TROMIX for more info. P.S. where in NC are you? Sorry for the delayed response, I'm near Morganton, NC. I live pretty close to South Mountain State Park. Thanks fro the tip on the gas piston, I had hoped someone here had one.
