Dude, seriously, the fact that we can't buy tickets to space yet, is the friggin' letdown of the century. ok "saboting" a .50 bmg into anything sounds crazy..but with that case it looks do able You know damn well this board is all about the crazy. I guess maybe there's not such thing as a sabot for the .50. Unless there are saboted 20mm rounds. Hrmm....

Bending has never been the concern with mounting things to the AK dust cover, although, if I understand you correctly, you seek to mount to the rear sight base, which is pretty cool. To tell you the truth, I'd buy it. I just don't really like the idea of potentiall raising the AK sight plane.

Whoa. I don't know that it has a name yet, but if you search the forum, you'll find a thread about a .50 BMG case blown out to 12 ga. For what its worth though, it doesn't look like that cartridge can properly fit the S-12 mag. It looks like its just been cramme din for a photo-op.It looks a little too big to be .50 phantom or .50 beowulf though....

Exactly. anything like that for the Saiga12 that anyone knows about? I have surfed the net for them & never seen any. Sounds like this would be the first attempt of such a thing (that I know of anyway) I'm afraid I don't think so. There's no real tactical advantage to it on the AK platform, certainly not on a shotgun, and "cool factor" can only drive manufacturing so far. The stabilize the back end of the rail you'd either have to stick it to the dust cover, or side mount...or SOMETHING.

Basically, an ARMS SIR for the AK.

What I was trying to get at with my question was whether or not an M16 mag would fit into the Arsenal magaine well/trunion area without modifications to either. Termite...are those Galil mags?

In addition, moving the front sight to another location on the barrel of an AK usually requires keying (drilling to create grooves in) the barrel to accept the two pins that hold the AK front sight on. This is something that requires some skill with a drill press to do, and I really haven't found a "dirty" way to do it. ACE makes a front sight that clamps onto the gas block, but that will decrease your sight radius considerably.

Do a search for magazines in this forum and you'll find the entire history of the G3 magazine in the Saiga. Bottom line is, it can be done, but...lets just say it represents about 6000 times the effort it would have taken to search the forum.

I'm still working on a mag guide (not a well). I think its a lot less of a PIA than the "real deal" straight in well. However, its not as effective. The Stimpcatch was a good start, but the mag really needs proper guidance in two axes like the first generation SWATs. We'll see if anything comes of it.

Bipods, historically, have not been a problem with AOW rulings. They're common on T/C Contenders and Savage Strikers and the like. However, if an ATF agent sees you using the bipod like a VFG while you cut loose with the AK, he might feel inclined to ask about it.
