BHFS, I have some experience with the Polychoke on my 19". I've only had a similar experience to yours when my choke was set on something less MOD. I have no trouble with the star, plate rack or poppers if I keep it cranked at or above IMP MOD. I normally run FULL if I have a field of large poppers to handle at different distances. Our club won't allow the use of anything heavier than 7 1/2 and I usually shoot #8. Make sure the choke portion is screwed all the way home tight then back it off a click or two. I use a polychoke and find it to be most effective for 3gun since the steel can be set at many different distances from stage to stage. Just a quick turn and your ready to go. Not quite as sexy as the shark brake, though. MAA would be my first choice also for purchase but I did not see any on the site. My S12 will digest all the cheap stuff with no special mods to the bolt (polishing, etc).

I can't speak to the 24" barrel but my 19" with a PolyChoke set anywhere from IM to Full will definitely put the steel down well beyond the 10yd minimum and quite often out to 20yds. The only other consideration I can think of regarding length of barrel is what type of stages are set up. We have a few stationary walls with doors and windows on boardwalks (cowboy set ups I think) and the longer barrel might hamper a bit of movement but like anything else just learn to move with it in close quarters through some dryfire practice and it will feel natural. I've been shooting 3G competitions for a while in different areas and as mentioned previously it really depends on the stages and what the club is capable of setting up. One club I used to shoot at used the heavy poppers and didn't adjust them to go down with a 9mm and always had shots out to 200yds with the rifle. I've been playing around with several different chest rigs including a load bearing vest but haven't found the necessary pouches with Molle straps that fit the mags. One of the pouches I recently discovered that fits the AGP 10 rounders are the M4 double mag pouches but it's a "bandoleer" without the Molle straps so does not secure to the vest. The pockets cover about 2/3 of the mag so security isn't an issue when moving but they deploy quickly. I tried my Saiga with the factory sights for a few matches but didn't perform to my expectations so I ground off the front sight and installed a Cobra rail over the gas tube. I've been running a C-More look alike (ATN) but found it to be a bit high so am now on a Aimpoint look alike tube red dot. Great on steel but as you mentioned the flying clays are a bit tricky. I prefer a optic where I can get one.

If memory serves me correct, 5.56 is the NATO standard and is a similar cartridge but manufactured to higher pressure specs and should not be shot in a 223 chamber. On the other hand 223 cartridges can be shot in a 5.56 chamber without any issue. As a result the vast majority of AR's are built with 5.56 chambers since they work with both........ My 2 cents

I can't tell from the picture but those appear to be single pouchs for an AR mag which will not work. I have Molle load bearing vest but haven't found the suitable pouches to fit it yet. VestGuy does have some decent equipment to choose from and will make you a custom chest rig if you tell him what you want. I've seen a few guys in my area try the velcro route with limited success since the weight of the mags tend to want to go to ground when your running. Ditto on the polychoke and optic. I tried a ATN (C-More look alike) over the gas tube but found it to be too high and instead reconfigured with a Aimpoint wanna be. The Saiga runs in Open division in my area because of the mag so the optic is free. I haven't found the need for the short reset trigger since you're rarely taking more than one shot at a target anyway and the time it takes to reset the trigger is much less then getting on the next target..........IMHO.

Been shooting Wolf 223 for years at matches with no issue on steel. The steel was no closer than 150 yds though and everytime I've checked they Chrony around 2800fps at 3 yds from the muzzle so at 100+yds it's well under the 3000 mentioned above. It has also been reliable with no issues that I can remember. I do have my first batch of Wolf 9mm, however, that has had several FTF with good primer strikes. Excellent video. I run 3Gun in FL with a Saiga and am also left handed. While you are quite proficient at locking the slide back between loading, have you tried keeping the gun shouldered and reaching over with your left hand to hold back the bolt during reload? Once the new mag is home just release and go. Also, I've been playing around with different chest rigs for the mags. What are you using in the video? Alan

+1 on Nalioth's comments. Some of the stocks fit very tight and require a bit of persuasion to get out and of course make sure the bottom screw is also out.

Gunfighteruk, I've been toying around with several options for my shotgun related 3 Gun matches. I have a drop leg pouch from TheVestGuy.com that works reasonable well. I also just purchased a used US GI Molle II vest that I'm looking for the appropriate lower pockets but have used it twice by wearing it inside out. The inside has a lower pocket on both sides that holds four mags upright on my chest but still needs some velcro on top to totally secure them for more active stages. Rear is a straight dove tail so will drift out either direction. If your front sight is set back off the front of the sight block about an inch like mine then it was pressed in I think and can be cut / filed down or cut / drilled / tapped for a rail.
