  1. you're 100% correct, there are quite a few holsters for railed 1911's available, but what about the extra mass along side the gun? I'm sure most holsters don't accommodate for something like that
  2. recovertactical.com I also like seeing new ideas sprout up. I also like the idea, but there are already at least 3 solutions to the "no rail" problem. Price doesn't seem to be too bad for someone wanting to toy with it, I've spend more on some holsters I don't even use. You can already: Hold a light, have a rail mechanically attached to your pistol, or have some forethought and buy a 1911 with an integral rail, or use the excuse to buy ANOTHER 1911. Again: innovation is good, but I'll keep my un-railed 1911.
  3. The pit is always busy. I went on a wednesday around 2:00 pm recently and there was about 4 other vehicles there.
  4. I've always wanted some type of Draco with a stock... I mean Krinkov ;-)
  5. Here's wishing you weren't 1 state away Tom, that would have shortcutted a LOT of bullshit in itself
  6. Stopped into the LGS today... after trying to talk his way out of it, and denying he had even talked to anyone about such a firearm, he finally admitted "yes, I sent the stores FFL not my class 3" ...yeah... yeah you did. Chile "fucking livid" pretty much describes it. I'd like to give him an honest try to fix it from here on out, even though there's NO room for error with something like this... so we'll see how it turns out. And I know it's a dumb reason but the next closest C3 dealer I could find is 2 hours away and costs 3 times as much for the transfer... apparently a little more money wo
  7. Back in June I ordered a SHF KEG-12. ("Improved" Serbu knockoff, 2+1 Mossberg AOW... pretty sweet IMHO) I've waited relatively patiently so far (as patient as someone can wait on a new toy THAT cool I suppose). I got a message today from the out-of-state company I bought it from... DENIED. Apparently my local gun store either lied about having the right SOT/c3/whatever license it takes to transfer class 3 firearms, or gave them seller the wrong info. 5 months of waiting wasted. Looks like tomorrow I get to stop in and try to sort this mess out and start over...BOO!!! commence angry emoticon bo
  8. In my humble, quick thinking opinion: I'm sure a lot of firearms are going to drop in price, but ammunition is only going to raise. What good is a gun you can barely shoot

  10. Maybe not so much my face, but I look different than most and I'm comfortable with that. It also gives me the opportunity to maybe make people question how much they judge people based on looks. I go out of my way to be polite and use ridiculously good manners. I'm sure it weirds people out when someone who looks "unwholesome", is the nicest person they've encountered throughout their whole day... that's victory enough for me.
  11. After a couple years of broken plans and bad scheduling, I finally got a co-worker out shooting for his first time. He had never fired a gun, besides an air rifle, and he's 27 years old. I started him out with a pump 12 gauge (winchester defender), then moved along to the S-12, followed by my Browning A5, then my Judge Public Defender, ripped off a couple 22's with a winchester semi-auto, and finally the 1911. He looked like a robot at first, but then loosened up and got a lot more comfortable with what he was doing. Had a blast, we all killed some clay targets, and best of all, he wants to bu
  12. In the next couple weeks, I've got plans set in motion to buy my first NFA firearm ( ). I think I'm pretty much ready to handle all the paperwork, time and waiting. The only thing that has me slightly on edge is dealing with the local sheriff. I've got a clean history, but that isn't what has me uneasy. Is the meeting more of an interview, or a quick document signature or other? From what I've heard, he seems to be pretty good about allowing NFA items into our county. I'm sure each one handles it slightly different than every other, so I guess I'm kind of fishing for what to expect as far as t
  13. Galco miami classic shoulder rig or (don't give me shit for it) Blackhawk SERPA... im a small guy but a light jacket or a bigger t-shirt covers it good enough for me and it's alot more comfortable than most IWB holsters I've tried
  14. unfortunately I'm willing to bet SOME manufacturer will do something to the extent of: "well, nobody else is making them, lets be the first and we'll sell DOZENS! (for the handful of gun owners still in kommieland)"
  15. I've got an Electronics Engineering degree and an auto repair degree, yet I draw pictures on people for a (fun) living. I'm also a part time chemist, turning alcohol solutions into ammonia/water based liquids
  16. I had an x39 conversion kit. It worked "alright". If you're into cool "gadgets" and getting WTF looks from people it's pretty cool, but as a training, hunting, target shooting piece: it's a waste. The only training you'll get is clearing jams and testing your nerves for slam fires. Not to say it wasn't cool, but it seemed to be a little more hassle than it was worth. And yes Ciener is a dickbag.

  19. I've got a cheap vise that I've had for probably 20 years, so cheap it came from Meijer. I still regularly use it for auto work, small projects, opening beer bottles and everything in between. Even my "bottom of the barrel" one is pretty tough. If you can get it cheap, go for it.
