  1. Is survival worth it at any price? Are you willing to live under such conditions or is it better to die making a stand? That will be the measure of a man when the time comes. I often wonder if I want to live in a country that is turning into the same system my parents fled almost 40 years ago.
  2. Based on interactions with most Americans I find a lot of what he says plausible, maybe not by 2010 but soon if the economy keeps going south. I do not agree as to the redistribution of real estate and who will control it but I think the prediction that the US has a 50% or so chance for civil war and fragmentation is pretty decent. Of course that means a 50% or so chance it won't happen either. But let's face it, Joe Shmoe rarely cares enough about his neighbors to work together with them if things come to push and shove. Generally a "me first" and "everyman for himself" attitude preva
  3. If it was not brewed in the homeland, I am not drinking it. Most the stuff brewed on this side of the ocean is just....Swill. Sorry folks. I like the REAL Budweiser, not the slop Anheuser-Busch made here or the Coors Rocky Mountain piss water. Abotu the worst is that watered down stuff called Rolling Rock. If you ever get a chance get some Klaster or Kralovski Lev. Brewed the real way by people who know how.
  4. Yeah, Niko is a good dog. Husky-Lab mix we were told but I suspect he has Hungarian Kuvasz in him. Loves to run outside and enjoys being chased with his bone.
  5. Thanks guys, glad you like it. We considered painting the walls but could not agree on color, so they stayed white. The french doors were my idea, had to knock down part of a wall and extend it to fit them in. The lights in the shower just makecolored light, not tanning. The tub also has interior lights that cycle through red, green and blue color. Those interested in where to go for the shower or tub units should investigate the following site, steamshowersinc.com. I think they are having major sales due to downturn in economy. I had to do this as the installed shower stall that came with
  6. So were you in Prague when the Soviets came to "liberate" you? They might come a "liberate" us too if our government collapses completely but with 300,000 Chicom Naval Infantry already living in Panama they might not be the only "Liberators" we see,LOL Yeah, saw the whole thing in '68. Was five when the tanks rolled in. Had a fear of helicopters until my teens (see Full Metal Jacket to learn why). I love it when people say SovCom hardware is junk, most of them were not down range from it. Nothing builds respect faster then being shot at. Yeah, it will either be a Chicom or t
  7. It seems to be working but none of my friends are on so I can't really tell. I had trouble logging in yesterday.
  8. Well, for minute of felon, POA=POI should suffice. Plan on a 1.75 to 2" bullet drop at 100 yards from muzzle (55 gr projectile at about 3000 fps). Drop at 25 yards is about 0.1" or so. I am not sure that 25 yards will have a major mechanical offset so I would go for a basic zero at 25 yard and call it good. There are AR zeroing targets for the 25 yard/25 meter range available for training sight setting purposes. When the weather clears you can go to a real range and refine it.
  9. We did a remodel when the shower in the master bath failed last Christmas. Got it finished just at the start of August. Total cost was about $14K for everything (got a neighbor general contractor). New stuff is a new floor, ceramic tile, 47" radius steam shower unit (with stereo and lighting) and a 72x36x28" whirlpool tub with reheat circuits and bubbler systems. I love the shower, just what you need to get dust and sweat off after along day training at a range. Go to link to look. thebathroomremodel.shutterfly.com
  10. Well, the Panhandle is quite a ways from the Border....and if things ever got so bad we were fighting, I'm not sure we'd have to worry about Mexico. But if they wanted to try their luck again, they're welcome to. Big fallacy of the Texas Revolution was that it was the white settlers versus the Mexicans. Many many "Texicans" such as Juan Sequin sided with their fellow Texans against Santa Anna and his thugs. Though some illegals might be pro Mexico, I'd have to believe any hispanic with half a brain would rather fight for and protect Texas and their current way of life, rather the
  11. Nice vault, but it is sooo EMPTY! You need more guns dude. I applaud the decor and tidiness, but I have you beat in numbers. Thanks for sharing though. Very nice, I am jealous.
  12. I admit it, I am a gym dweller. 10 years ago I had a health crisis and my doctor recommended a lifestyle change. Now I watch what I eat and exercise religiously. I figure it will be better to be fit in an emergency anyway. Have not been in as good a shape since my days in the USMC twenty some odd years ago. Besides walking my dog, I run at least 21 miles every week on an elliptical at 85% max resistance and lift weights for two+ hours and 400 crunches every other day. The fun part is I enjoy it now and feel miserable if I don't get my fix. I figure I am adding years to my life and all of my h
  13. +1 the governent took more than a week and 10,000 cops and troops to lock down NOLA with when it was almost deserted, why does everyone think they will be able to dominate when he whole country is in shambles? They will focus on big $$$ areas and let everything else go fallow locking down interstate travel to keep the unregistered ruffians from preying upon their hollow remaining vestiges of civilization 70% of Oklahoma's population fled to the coast looking for work and food during the great depression and Oklahoma was a deserted lawless place for quite some time and I imagine it wil
  14. Looks nice!! Hope it works as well for you as it does for me. You will need to look for a holster on your own, I have not seen any for railed Beretta guns and mine have no rails. As I said trigger can be improved with replacement mainspring from Wolff. Some people also remove the firing pin safety to improve the trigger. I tried both and the firing pin safety is not really worth the bother. Keep an eye on your locking block, suggested maintenance interval on those is about 5000 rounds, mine has been in longer without any problems so far. The gun is under lifetime guarantee anyway so no worrie
  15. Been there, done that too. Sold a neighbor an AR lower I did not want (OlyArms) two years ago and to this day he has yet to get an upper. Not my fault if he never gets it built now. Same with the ammo. People poked fun at me and my frequent UPS deliveries and the strain the poor delivery guy had carrying them. Now they want to buy my ammo from me. The same with Magazines.
  16. Unfortunately the pictures are copyrighted, as is the article. You can visit the Corbin web site in the link above or buy a back issues of the magazine listed here. Now if any other reader of this rag wants to break copyright laws, be my guest. .
  17. Actually both sides here are at fault and doing similar things to their populations. The Israelis are not saints and do their own dirty tricks too. Propaganda and bigotry abound on both sides of this conflict. Both are guilty of war crimes while pointing the finger at each other. I say reduce the whole region to radioactive glass if you ever want it to calm down. They have not learned to play nice in 3000 years of recorded history, fuck them, nuke both sides till they glow.
  18. Cute video, done some of that. There is a place here that teaches something similar, very high speed low drag classes.
  19. I want some of the Gecko and cavemen. Damn those commercials chap my ass! I agree on the Gecko, but leave the caveman alone. He suffered enough and I like him. Now the target I would like is that annoying insurance guy around here named Vern Fonk. He has the absolutely worst, bad taste commercials around. And get this, he likes insuring DUI offenders. Set phasers on slaughter.
  20. Thanks for the advice. I will look for a salvage yard in this area. I doubt I will get any hospital lead sheeting from X ray rooms as this state is so full of EPA tree hugger types. I may get lucky with the other sources though. Your advice is much appreciated. Now I don't have to let down my old car batteries, lol.
  21. OK, it was the December 08 issue of SWAT. The manufacturer is Corbin Bullet Swaging Systems (www.corbins.com) and they provide a rimfire jacket maker kit for $783, an optional core swage die for $198 and a hand canelure tool for $129. THey also seel 4 cavity core molds for the bullet cores. Their stuff includes a book on how to do it and useful tips. Pure lead is recommended as linotype and wheel weight alloys are too hard and may damage the dies. Yes, I also read the article in Shooting Times but that is buried somewhere in a pile of gun magazines. Basically it said the samethings as
  22. I got two, a blued steel standard one with Heinie sights and a stainless railed one with Novak sights. Both are great. The blued one cost $500 and the stainless was $599. Great buys and contrary to the buzz on the net they seem to take standard 1911 parts. Trigger is a bit light for my tastes but quite nice otherwise.
  23. That would probably be one of the best investments in the face of an all out ammo ban I have ever heard of! It would be like having a printing press scrap wheel weights+spent 22lr cases= Quality .224 projectile! I shoot brick, upon brick of 22lr and throw so much of it away I always thought it was a horrible waste of brass. got a link perchance? Sorry, no link, was an actual article in a hardcopy periodical. Will look up the article and try to post relevant info. It has been in several of the gun rags recently. January SWAT had it I think. Also one or two of the others.
  24. Well, considering I have been living the American dream until recently, I figure I can always ask Obama for a bailout. I can't do much about it. I got me a bunch of stuff but mostly bought earlier. Been Pre-empting the obvious gun ban expectations. Got me several K rounds of everything I need more magazines then god, and components to boot. Figure next I will be buying repair parts in anticipation of failures, things like trigger groups, extractors and AR bolts. Most the LE types in my area say they are coming to my house if civilization ends for resupply, lol. They better know the secret
