  1. First off I'm confused, I can't find a Iz-443. You also speak of the 412 not having an adjustable plug which is incorrect. I think you mean the other way around. Just want to make sure so that you get the correct information. Anyways, to answer the question of reconfiguring the receiver to accept rock-n-lock mags. Yes, it can be done. One member in particular has done it. No it's not as simple as just pulling the magwell off. The receiver has been cut larger to accept magwell magazines. Pauly made a adapter plate that worked for his vepr-12. Essentially it would be the same proce
  2. I went through this kind of crap back in '89 in California. Had to get photographed and fingerprinted to re-register a rifle ("dreaded" AK) that was approved for importation into this country by the ATF, and legally purchased in that state some years earlier. This was AFTER I was given the wrong forms - multiple times - by various law enforcement agencies, and finally after multiple calls to the California Department Of Justice complaining that I was getting the runaround, was sent the right forms. THEN, I was sent paperwork telling me (in a handy booklet) what I could NOT do with the rifle -
  3. One of the guys I go deer hunting with has an old Case just like that. He bought it new back in the early 60's, and has used it every year since. I believe they are carbon steel, and hold a great edge!
  4. Great to hear. He and I are discussing getting that done and replacing the FCG, and I must say he's winning me over through patience with my incessant questions via PM. +1 Cobra not only does good work, but is one hell of a nice guy to deal with and is happy to share his knowledge with people!
  5. This has cast a dark cloud on the reputation of this site, and it's paying advertisers who DO what they advertise without problems!
  6. ? this was just my thoughts on these particular firearms, after putting minimal rounds through them. I made no claim about reliability, or longevity for either, nor was resale value a factor, as i have no idea about that.. i would assume you could not resell them for more than they go for new, & i would also assume you could resell them for nearly what they cost, since that seems to be the case for most firearms in the current market. All i have read is high praise for the vepr, & demonizing of the fury... this is a less emotional review, based on actually handling & shooting
  7. Not a very good comparison IMHO. The VEPR is way ahead of the Saiga much less the Fury! So when you spend the time and money getting it up to the standards of a Saiga S12 are you really saving that much? And what about re-sale value? Will you get a better return if you spend the extra money up front and just buy a S12?
  8. If the OD of the 870 BBL is not large enough, here are two options that would give you the external threads you desire.... Option A: Silver solder a sleeve that can be turned down to the correct OD on the end of the barrel. Option B: Buy a used long barrel, and cut it back. There should be enough OD back that far from the muzzle.
  9. At some point in the end of October, most of the posts surfacing regarding this problem were locked and or deleted on this forum, and comments and complaints were directed to be discussed on this thread. By the mid to end of November, people started realizing the full scope of the problem, and that contrary to what Pauly had posted, little if anything was being done. I don't think there are, or have ever been, any significant complaints or problems with the quality of his work - just problems in his personal life preventing him from following good business practices.
  10. Funny you mention tranny fluid. The Russians like hydraulic fluid to lube their rifles...
  11. Firearm. (a) A shotgun having a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length; ( a weapon made from a shotgun if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length; © a rifle having a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length; (d) a weapon made from a rifle if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length; (e) any other weapon, as defined in this subpart; (f) a machine gun; (g) a muffler or a silencer for any firearm whether or n
  12. Does the measurement start from the back of the chamber? When its empty the dowel I measure with is over 18 The legal measurement is from the face of the bolt in its closed position to the end of the barrel....
  13. Depending on your location, no lube is sometimes your best option. If you live in the desert, I would not use any lube because it attracts sand and grit - essentially making something similar to lapping compound. I generally use grease in the summer, and Breakfree CLP in the winter on all of my guns. Avoid using any sort of lube on pistons, or anywhere else gas would come in contact with the oil as it creates a hard to clean mess of things.
  14. As far as I know, all of the AK hammer springs are interchangeable.
  15. It seems they have become as rare as Pauly...Misplaced anger, dude. They DID continue to accept his money, and let him continue to advertise on this forum long after the problems began to surface... Look like ya had me squarely in your bullseye.. In the meantime, I guess I'll delete spam and move threads vs involve myself for the greater good... Gets REAL old to be constantly be dragged into drama that ya got nothin' to do with... There are also people who will prosecute for libel....Just sayin'... Sorry if it seemed as if I was blaming you. You and the othe
  16. Maybe this should be addressed in the policies (or maybe it already has) for advertisers on this forum. If there are a certain number of complaints, they should be placed on some sort of "probation", and not allowed to continue to advertise. I am not pointing the finger of blame at anyone in particular, but the complaints seemed to be pouring in well before Pauly was shut down here.... Moving forward - I hope everyone has learned something from this, it never happens again to the extent it has, the poor individuals get their parts back, and Pauly gets his life straightened out.! Hmm

  19. Maybe you should only keep 8 rounds in them for extended periods. Hopefully csspecs will get their steel mags on the shelves soon!
  20. YES! AGP has EXCELENT customer service! The front lip broke off of one of my mags once, and they sent me a new mag body ASAP - no questions asked...
  21. Do you keep your magazines loaded to full capacity all of the time?
  22. Looks good! I use an old Rhodesian style chest rig for my 5 round mags, and it works well.
  23. I used to underestimate the power of a 12ga 2 3/4" rifled slug until the year I shot a deer at about 25 yds. head on.... the slug went in the neck, down the right side of the spine (ruining a perfectly good loin), and if not for hitting the hip socket, would have easily exited and kept on going! The 3" round has it's place (as does the 3 1/2"), but I question the "bigger is better" mentality that some people use when they select it.
  24. That is a good price in today's market! D'OH! With deals like this, looks like I picked the wrong time to list my converted S-12 for sale.....LOL!
  25. I ran across some guy at a gun show that had a pile of bayonets, and had no idea what they were, or how much they were worth!!! I negotiated to buy 8 of them for $100.00, which besides this one, included a rare Eichorn used by SEAL teams in 'Nam and the Israelis on some of their Galils, an Izmash type 2, a couple of polish type 1's, a couple of Romanian type 2's, and a US M6 (for the M14).... all in excellent condition!
