TonyRumore 1,332
I bought this thing back in September and it finally arrived today. All of the USAS-12's I have seen in the past were Gilbert Equipment guns and all had as-cast receivers. This is a later InterOrdnance gun with a black receiver. It is marked "Restricted Law Enforcement / Govt Use Only" so I am guessing it came in after 1994. The gun appears nearly new. Even the hammer face still has the original finish on it. I have a big block of aluminum here which is going to be machined into a full auto lower recevier/pack for it. Now I just need to get a 20rd drum. http://www.hunt101.com/showphoto.php?photo=386752 Tony Rumore Tromix Corp www.tromix.com Edited March 17, 2006 by TonyRumore
bradcliff 1
WOW that is Bad ass How much did that one set you back?
TonyRumore 1,332
$1,800 plus $200 for the transfer tax since I am not a DD dealer, so it had to transfer on a Form 4 rather then a Form 3.
chris410 0
Those are awesome, I love the USAS. How does it feel and shoot? Whats the barrel and overall length on it?
6500rpm 670
Tony, feeling O.K. buddy. You gave a discription on what you were going to do, and not one mention about cutting down the barrel.
osprey21 5
Is that the one from Florida? I believe I may have shot that gun.
TonyRumore 1,332
I got it from Heavy Metal Armory in Florida. Drew said it came out of a police department there.

kmoore 3
Tony, What license do you have. I've heard the ATF will let one or 2 DD's transfer to those who manufacture MG,silencers,SBS's, etc (I don't remember the license type). You got a screaming deal, most are going for hundreds more. Can you tell me what the stock choke is (or ID of the bbl)? Just curious. Your talent level is thru the roof! I couldn't even dream of the stuff you undertake!
beerslurpy 1
I'm confused, how can you make a full auto lower for it? Are you going to make some sort of registered sear gun or something?
TonyRumore 1,332
The gun uses a detachable trigger pack, similar in operation to an HK. But rather then having a sheet metal pack housing, it's machined aluminum. I have a Type 07 FFL and pay the annual SOT tax. Since I am not a type 10 (DD) FFL, I had to pay the $200 transfer tax. I don't know if the ATF has any hard and fast rules regarding exactly how many DD's you can transfer without a Type 10 FFL, but they seem to allow a limited number. BattleRifleG3 16
I'm assuming that after your FA mod it would be a post '86 machinegun and NOT a DD, thereby making it something you could sell but we couldn't buy. Does that mean then that you would be able to sell the lower as a semi-auto DD to any of us interested in building on it?
fosgate 0
Screaming deal Tony! One of my buddies cant find a deal to save his life. Everyone he talks to willing to sell seem pretty proud of it and don't want to let them go for less than 3k used and new for about $3500.
MikeD 541
Tony, what makes it legal to make a full-auto receiver for this?

How do you become a SOT II manufacture? I am appling for a FFL and if I could apply for this at the same time it might save me time?
TonyRumore 1,332
You don't "apply" for the SOT. It is simply a tax that you need to pay after you have your FFL.

KySoldier 2
Anyone thinking they'd get their type 02 and have fun don't forget, if you are in the guns business, than the ATF expects you to BE in the guns business.
