Today the weather is unnaturally warm, I have been working in the yard in a tank top and sweating. (14 miles from DC) Is this global warming? Maybe. But just maybe it is the heat generated by Republicans distancing themselves from the failed take over attempt that was Bush/Cheny. The mood in congress is REFORM. The juggernaught that was Nixon's political machine-wedded to Johnson's, and cloaked in "No we are NOT Faschists" denial is at it's end. Maybe it is also some heat generated by the forces of change , that have set fire to the cloak of secrecy and subversion that has been woven over our eyes by the neo-cons, and now is catching fire in the light of publick scrutiny. Since the Border Patrol agents are woefully understaffed and out-gunned by the Messkin militia drug-courier guards, they have been instructed to "lay low, stay hidden, and take notes". By any means of reckoning that I am aware of, the un-invited incursion of armed, uniformed, military personnel onto "our" soil is an "overt act of war". I guess the rationale is that as long as they are only here for a short period of time, (until the drugs are transferred) and they go back to where they came from, well, that's OK. Once again, to me it's absolutely disgusting that brave, loyal, American blood is being shed abroad to "preserve our way of life" here, while Vicente Fox's bitch Jorge W. Bush is giving the keys to the country to anybody willing to cross a shallow river and take 'em. He's a spineless, pussy, bitch and deserves to be kicked to the curb. At some point, more than likely when it is too late to help, Americans are going to realize their Utopian dreams are not shared by everybody. There are many folks out there willing and eager to snatch this country and our way of life right out of our hands, and it's happening at a high rate of speed right now. Without a "leader" that has some genuine 'nads in his sack (certainly not the current one...) who is willing to take charge and lead, well, I reckon it will come down to us second-ammendment proponents.... The ONLY thing that was suspicious was the fact that only one of the two (read: two people total in the truck, both in the front) did not have ID or proper clearance. But that happens all the time. Hello, 747mech Jimmy Carter was the only Presidential candidate that I ever voted FOR, as opposed to voting AGAINST a candidate. Times would have been tough for whoever was in office at that time, but I did and do believe that Pres. Carter had the highest integrity and character factor of anybody I've had the opportunity to vote for. The deck was stacked against him, but I think he was a fine leader. Our 'leaders' have been lacking, to a greater or lesser extent, moral strength and any vision for the country. I see good points and bad points to all the leaders we've had since Eisenhower. Current generation responds too quickly to 'world opinion', reader-polls, and soundbite terrorism. They have all "lacked the 'nads" to choose a direction, publically and clearly stated the reasons for their decision(s), and moved ahead in a consistent way to completion. Reagan stands out as somewhat exceptional. Our country, our government, has been under attack from the beginning. Royalists, Communists, now muslim lunatics. We've survived, so far, not by being weak and fearful, but strong. The fact that we have the best trained, equipped military in the world hasn't hurt. I also voted for Carter. I didn't vote for CNN, HNN or Fox News to decide what information I receive from whatever battlefield and then tell me what I should think about it. Today we have a large contingent of the population who apparently don't perceive the info-war being fought. It's propaganda, and nothing more. We're under attack from within just as much as from without. Tokyo Rose, Hanoi Jane, now Baghdad Bob and Cindy: we as a nation will only be 'right' when we admit we're wrong', and we'll only 'win' when we admit defeat. Is that zen-like, or insane? You decide. For me, I keep my powder dry, my head down, and keep a close eye on my '6'. I vote for whoever seem to have the best bet of moving the nation,town, bus, in the right direction, then I wait to see what they do. I pray alot, I shoot alot, I don't believe I'm perfect at either.
