Where to begin. Ok, thank you for the Hetfield-Mustaine duck hunting thing, I didnt know that. I feel much better about him now. (sigh of relief) I was a little worried after seeing snap shots of Dave Mustaine and Rob Halfred riding motorcycles together down San Andreas Blvd.

 

I can safely agree that Lemmy is not anti-gun after seeing his drunken utterings of political activism and deer hunting philosophy. Believe it or not, when I was a child I used to think the same thing about deer hunting. Then I grew up and tried it!

 

There is absolutely no unfair advantage in shooting an animal with extremely excelerated senses and built purely for stealth, speed and manuverability. Besides, if hunters did not thin them out, our cars would have to do the job. Starvation would no doubt do the rest. Ask anyone living in New Jersey. Ofcourse you guys already know this, I am preaching to the choir! Lets try clubbing seals! It sounds like fun! Jeeesh! come on Lemmy.

 

I like Motorhead, I wouldent take anything Lemmy says personally or seriously. Hell, did the Sex Pistols have an outspoken political opinion? Look where it got the Beatles. (remember, they were "Bigger than Jesus Christ")?

 

I agree that a musical group should not be political spokesmen, but at the same time, thats what I have always liked about Megadeth. Besides the fact that Dave can outright smoke off a fretboard. The group has a hard hitting (sometimes complaining) in-your-face attitude toward the almighty government. I know he is probably a French Canadian liberal pussy living in Kalifornia, and marries supermodels, but I try not to think of that. The Dave in my head is much different. I know the Lemmy in my head is too.

As you noted in another post somewhere, it was the other individual who started the personal attacks after a post I made (only my second post ever) where I in no way disparaged anyone here. I believe you even commented to the effect that my post "got his gander up" or something - though the post had nothing to do with him personally.

 

After reading and enjoying your posts for some time, I hardly can believe you are the type who would deny the right of personal self-defense to any who is personally attacked. And, after that defense is made, if the original attacker chooses to continue to attack further, then personal defense is as valid as it was in the first place, and so on - until the attacker stops attacking.

Like I said, I was personally attacked, defended myself, was attacked again, and so it went. If someone comes upon an ongoing conflict, after it has started, where one person is defending himself from another, it may be difficult to tell who is the attacker and who is the defender. And that has probably happened here.

 

Additionally, the attacker finally agreed to a truce. Then, a few days later, posted another personal attack against me, which I then defended myself against, and so on. He even followed me to another thread to continue his attacks on me.

Just as most have never fired a shot in self-defense. Not that they wouldn't, if attacked, but only that they haven't needed to, so far.

Free speech be damned? Is that the way you do it in the Peoples Republic of New York? All I did was speak my mind. I realize this forum is not a democracy nor a republic - it is a privately-owned dictatorship, which I understand and have no problem with. I'd just like to understand a clear set of rules. Rules or laws which are not clearly defined stifle free expression and are a symtom of tyrannical fascism, which a dictatorship does not necessarily have to be.

 

Being punished for speaking one's mind about a "government official" is something that might be expected from corrupt thugs like Castro in Cuba, Mao in China, Mugabe in Zimbabwae, Pol Pot in Cambodia, Hitler in Germany, and so on.

 

But, there are also many other dictatorships where the leaders are not corrupt thugs and where they posess the wisdom and decency to allow free speech even if it is mildly critical of the powers that be.

 

If you want to say, for instance, that this is a forum for technical discussion of Saigas only, and that standard applies to all equally, then OK, I could follow a clear rule like that.

 

But if I ask you what's not allowed, and you respond like Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart did when asked what porn is, "I know it when I see it" then how can that be good? The "know it when I see it" definition of "assault weapon" in CA got a single-shot, break action shotgun banned just because it had the evil pistol grip and black color.

- he personally attacked me first

- he continued to personally attack me after I defended myself

- he, in another post, personally attacked me out of the blue after previously agreeing to a truce

- he followed me to other threads to personally attack me there, as well.

 

How is his attacking me my fault?

I don't know where you might have got that idea - I like that its devoted to Saigas. But one of my main points is that wherever gun owners gather, like here, the very grouping of them is a political resource, something gun owners can hardly afford to waste in these times.

 

Its amazing how many do not know how close the wolf is to their door - and, no, I'm not talking about UPS delivering the ammo they ordered last week. Some would be inspired to political action if they realized how close the left is to having their way in banning all guns.

I'd wager that as ridiculous as banning every gun with a scope, or the scopes themselves, sounds to us, there would be those anti-gunners who would take that ball and run with it. Some probably already are. Sniper rifle this, terrorist rifle that.

 

Maybe at first it wouldn't help them much, but it is real easy to see that somewhere down the road, adopting a tactic like that, planting a seed like that, might backfire on us. Look at how ridiculous things are now compared to 50 years ago. Innocent stuff we never thought would ever be a problem can now get us arrested.

 

Who would have ever thought they would call our nail clippers weapons at airports? How stupid is that? They'll harass my old dad for having a pair of manicure scissors but fail to keep thousands of illegal foreign invaders from crossing our southern border every year.

Its like the mag capacity argument: We as gunners know that 30, ten-round mags are, for all practical purposes of mass mayhem (which is what they claim to be worried about), the same as 10, thirty-round mags.

 

Its that they are easily detachable/attachable that is the significant factor, not whether they hold 10 or 30 rounds, which is the part they regulated, more or less, in their ignorance.

 

The same could happen to scoped rifles, rifles capable of mounting a scope (words they might use), and so on, until its like the UK here and they attempt to stop the crime that resulted from their original fuckwit gun ban by banning air guns, swords, toy guns, and TV shows and cartoons that "normalize gun possession or use".

 

The problem with trying to make the leftist gun-grabbers see themselves as stupid is that they aren't smart enough to see it - They are already stupid and they can't see that; how is going any further in that direction going to help. They don't operate on logic or reason or they wouldn't be trying to ban guns in the first place.

You may have noticed, as moderator, (or maybe not) that in the first post of this thread I suggested the creation of a political discussion area and gave some reasons why that might be good. I used some sarcasm but several things you wrote indicate you may have not fully understood that.

 

You have, in a later post, stated that you would suggest my idea to the owner of the forum. I thanked you for that.

 

Additionally, this thread has been used to discuss everything from music, musicians, Barbie dolls, hunting, foil hats, chicken fucking, who's a troll, who's a whiner, anarchy, to several other things. Which is cool with me as I think people should let a thread lead where it may, in most cases.

 

Bait for me to draw people to read my posts? Hardly.

anyway, i can go at it from a hundred angles. none of which tell me that i should have to give up ANY gun, nor do they say to me why i cant have a machinegun in new york state. let those pricks down in the "island" and "the city" as we call em ban them from thier counties. they all come up here anyway when theres trouble and drive us out of our homes with increased costs of living. (rent three counties north of NYC tripled since 9/11). look what the city people that dont want guns in thier cities did to the guys in california. you cant tell me there isnt that much landholders out there with appropriate backgrounds and areas to shoot there? the city people need to butt out of everyone else's business is what it comes down to. they think they own everybody. at least here anyway. in my day to day life, as i see and recognise people that sound and act like they have come north from NYC and long island, i go far out of my way to be an asshole to each and every one of them, whether its cutting them off at a light, dumping a mud puddle on them when they are walking thier dog, or just charging them twice what i normally do for work on thier house. f them if they dont like it. the locals are tired of them screwing up our hometowns here. its ridiculous.
