BattleRifleG3 16
Who here thinks a good choice for a tactical shotgun is a heavy setup with decent capacity and a degree of usefullness in hand-to-hand fighting? Having been trained with a musket, large heavy guns don't really bother me, and I'm inclined to use it as a beating or stabbing implement if the quarters suddenly become too close. Sadly it will soon be replaced by a Rem 870 in order to fulfil hunting needs as well, but soon I'll equip the 870 for the same duty. So here it is, shameless gun porn, the king of tactical shotguns (not the pimp), the Mossberg 590 with M9 bayonet.
IndyArms 10,186
Looks TOUGH bro!! I like it!
SaigaShooter 0
Betcha that bayonet works better without the sheath! looks awesome.
BattleRifleG3 16
I must say that if somehow in my transactions I'm able to hold onto it, I'd sure like to! It would mean one less barrel to buy for my incoming 870 ESM.
emclean 0
Betcha that bayonet works better without the sheath! but it hurts the other guy more that way.
AegisDei 2
"Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe?" "Because it's DULL, you twit, it'll hurt more!" Sick-nasty shotty! I like the bayonet as a last-ditch option. Also, supposedly someone with a bayonet on their AR used it in a 3-gun competition to stab a close-quarters cardboard sillouette in the face. It's a kill shot the same as a bullet, but I would love to try to patch a knife wound with those little stickers. Long story, short, I think I need to go look for a bayonet. BattleRifleG3 16
For which gun? I might be able to help that happen if a lug doesn't exist yet... If it's an S-12, I'll send you to Tony, as he went to some trouble to make them for this site.
macbeau 902
For "up close & personal", I have this: (Opened) But I like to have options, so I have these too. Yep, I likes to have options. [ithaca 37 13" barrel (NFA)] [ithaca 37 DSPS and Ithaca 37 M&P] See a trend in my shotgun tastes?
scoutjoe 276
BattleRifleG3 how do you like your 590? if i had a pic of mine i would be posting it to give the guys some more gun porn to look at. I love the bayo mount on mine also..and everytime it gets to go out to the range the bayonet is proudly on the front end unsheathed ready to take care of that last bit of target that the 9 shells in the gun or the 4 in the stock couldn't take care of what type of site is on yours? it looks like it might just be a single bead.. either way she's a beauty
BattleRifleG3 16
Yes, mine's the bead. I'm not a heatshield enthusiast so I'd take the ghost ring sites if I had a choice. I bought it used several years ago. I've really liked it this whole time, but it has one little problem - They only make one type of barrel for it. Now that I'll be needing to hunt, I'll need a shotgun that can take hunting barrels. If a tentative arrangement doesn't work out, I may end up just keeping my 590 and considering it one less barrel I have to buy for my incoming 870. scoutjoe 276
my 590 is supposedly "the mp" version...but anyways its missing the heatshield but instead has the ghost ring site on it...man i thought i loved shotguns before i used that site but now oh its just bad mossberg does sell a kit to put the ghost rings on it, and i think cheaper than dirt has it also but they never seem to have it in stock. personally i would keep the 590 but then again i'm a mossberg guy so to hear that your going with the 870 breaks my heart a little, but to each his own and i do understand where your coming from with the one barrel problem. cvasqu03 21
Awsome setup BRG3! It's exactly what I've been wanting to get, though I want the one with the ghost ring sights. Once I get the gun, I'd put the shell holder on the side, then sling it with a shell holding sling. I might even get myself a couple of shell holder bandoliers just for the Rambo look

I also have a computer with five internal hard drives, three CD drives of different types, three different printers and two different scanners. What can I say, I don't like to throw usable things away, and I don't like to be unprepared. Funny thing is, I've never actually run out of ammo yet. By the way, now I know you're the guy that's been stalking my house! I knew I wasn't just paranoid. Time to double my nightly patrols.
PM2790 0
Keep the 590 and just buy the hunting shotgun you need. They're cheap and readily available.
BattleRifleG3 16
Have the shotgun lined up. We'll see how finances and barrel needs go. If you REALLY want me to keep the shotgun, buy some of my custom furniture for sale
emr454 1
What would you sell it for pricewise? Just curious. Eric

ivrfrkbrd 0
BattlefieldrifleG3- Beauty of a shotgun! Being a die-hard Mossberg fan I have to ask, can said bayonet be adapted to the 835 Ultra-Mag? My slug gun now looks a little bare...... Sorry to hear about the 870, but to each his own......You do know that the 835 Ultra Mag swaps barrels eaisly and a lot cheaper than the Remington right? Please let me know about the bayonet. Thanks. Ivrfrkbrd
BattleRifleG3 16
Thought brieflt about an 835, but the 870 is far more standard. An 870 ESM will take any 12ga 870 barrel AND mag extension and practically everything else I can think of. Regarding bayo lugs, you'd need a clamp on lug for the 835. The M590 has it on the underside of the long mag tube, and the bayonet loop goes around the endcap, not the barrel. If you wanted to bayo lug a Moss 835 with standard length tube, my first suggestion would be to look up Tony who made them for the S-12. Perhaps one can be made to work. G O B 3,516
BRG-3 Don't ever sell anything, you will always regret it! If You need a 'hunter' or a 'beater' just hit a gun show! I needed a 'beater' to shoot trap with steel shot, so I picked up a nice mossberg 195 for $99. It comes ported, and with the c-lect choke. 2rd mag, bolt action. Easiest thing I have ever found for loading single rounds. My #3 son picked up a very nice single shot for $55. Keep your nice shotties, and get just get a 'cheepie' untill your funds roll in. With the quality of what you are selling, it won't take too long to catch-up! G O B
BattleRifleG3 16
I have an 870 ESM on layaway, and am leaning towards keeping the 590 for HD and the 870 as exclusively sporting.
BattleRifleG3 16
Here's the new kid on the block. Decided to just pick it up today. I do think I'll have to sell the 590 though. A lot of providential things worked out for this new shotgun and I think it's the right choice. Mag extension is factory, picked it uplast saturday at the gun show. It's longer than the current ones, so I think a 20" rifle sited barrel will match it well. And yes, there will be provision for a bayonet.
