toothandnail 275
Sorry probably not what your thinking . Been a little preoccupied last week and this. We've had 16 burglaries/breakins here in our area , in the last 6 days. We are in a rual area , with ALOT for Amish/Dutch - horse&buggy Mennonites, Ours is the only NON dutch business that has been broken into. Started last Tues. with 5 , Thurs 4 (ours) , last night 7. They have all been small businesses in about a 4 mile radius of our shop, we were hit on Thurs night/Fri morning, they go 2 shotguns/parts, that we were in the process of building, everything else(50+ guns) was in the safe's. So far only businesses no homes, somebody , I think an EX dutchman , is mainly targeting them because they WILL NOT press charges. SORRY, boys I WILL Not 100% sure on all the details yet ,as they are still on-scene, and finishing the investigation , but here's what I know. Sheriff called and wanted us to come identify some items they recovered, Joshua went, sure enough it was ours. We should get it back soon. Maybe 2 guys and 2 girls involved. They were SHOCKED when they were arrested, "we only stole from "amish" they won't press charges" . WRONG DIRTBAG, we're NOT "amish" we WILL press charges . I'll leave it at that for now, I ain't no lawyer, and don't want to "taint" the jury pool.

compshootfl 40
Looks like the safe did it's job. I would invest in a camera based security system, they have really come down in price and are wireless and easy to install. You can monitor them from anywhere and they have motion detection and automatic video recording.
toothandnail 275
Already done, we had talked about/looked at some just the week before. Also notifies me ,since I'm only about 75 yards away.

Flatland Shooter 22
I don't think "we only stole from "amish" they won't press charges" is not an affirmative defense in Missouri. I just hope these budding rocket scientists don't walk with a slap on the wrist. Bill
toothandnail 275
As of now they have 4 FELONIES just from our break-in, cops are trying to get the DA to charge them with a "hate crime"(which I think as a BS law) because they ONLY targeted "Mennonite" businesses in 3 different counties. So far in our area, only 1 other business is going to press charges, out of 16 break-ins , and possibly 1 case of arson. If they won't press charges , there's nothing the cops can do, unless the "hate crime" is used

gunfun 3,931
I don't think "we only stole from "amish" they won't press charges" is not an affirmative defense in Missouri. I just hope these budding rocket scientists don't walk with a slap on the wrist. Bill This is why most states split crimes into two halves. The act of breaking the law is a crime against society, so the state is who chooses whether or not to press charges. The property recovery enforcement issue is civil, although it can be ordered as part of the criminal conviction. You still have a problem if the victims refuse to serve as witnesses or actively attempt to help the criminal, but that is a matter of proof and jury persuasion, not whether the prosecution goes forward. This also takes the decision to press charges out of the victim's hands so that there is no point in retaliating against a victim for the prosecution. Where I used to live, there is a lot of gang burglary against illegal immigrant trade workers. They steal the tools and cash, and know that the crime is unlikely to be even reported. Typically a friend of the burglars will be a neighbor of the victim and will tip them off when the victim is not around. Edited June 27, 2013 by GunFun
BellaCorse 4
Thanks for the SecurityCameraKing web site. I'm looking for what they called the Holly Grail of DVR security systems: A system with completely wireless and solar-powered cameras. I need a system, but I do not want to tip anyone off that a system is being installed. No wires to run. No AC/DC power supplies to deal with. No ladders & drills. If there are any security specialists out there (or gov. spooks) with suggestions, please let me know. SCK suggested hunter's cameras, but they only record internally and don't network to a remote DVR. /M
compshootfl 40
I remember seeing some solar powered led outdoor lights disquising a wireless wifi cam that was powered by the solar panels and charged the internal batteries for 24 hour use. Here is the link: LINK Link to company website: LINK One more from Sears: LINK Edited July 9, 2013 by compshootfl
