Different cultures, different customs, or so the saying goes

The saying also apparently applies to rifle preferences for the world’s militaries, as the following map illustrates.

Obviously, there are many, many more types of rifles than the ones shown on the map, but as Gizmodo notes, the “map gives a general gist of each military’s standardization.”

Very cool!  I was thinking not to waste my time reading this thread (thought military preferences were something obscure).  I prefer an all-naked female military, personally  Anyway, I found it very interesting.

Look up Diemaco rifles. The C7 is a copy of the M16A2. The C8 is an M4 copy. The Canadian PPCLI uses the C8. So does the Brit, Aussie, and Kiwi SAS.

So what I'm getting out of this map is that hands down, the 5.56 rules in the America's as a military round.  So it pays to own an AR or at least a Saiga 223 if you live here.  Regardless of this map, I still prefer my 7.62 x 39 AK's as SHTF go to guns and I'm pretty sure that among civilians in the America's the AK47 rules.
