Garys4598 1,065
Are you going to mount some good glass on it? If so.... based on your target budget you should likely go with the S&W MP-10.
Heartbreaker 1,085
I was gonna recommend the Ruger SR762, but it's a little out of your range. Great rifle though.
semper299 284
Get the M&P. It's a good shorter and the customer service is excellent IMHO.

horatio 515
Fwiw there was a thread on this 7 or 8 months ago. IIRC the dpms gen two was the most popular choice, voiced by several whose opinions on firearms are worth listening to in my opinion. I've never been a fan of dpms, but they seemed to have good reasoning.
jwulf 179
I like my Rock River. Have you investigated those?
HB of CJ 1,263
My spies tell me that left hand AR10 uppers and bolt carrier groups are in the works. I am left handed. HB
semper299 284
Like someone else mentioned, you could build one for about half your max budget then have plenty of money left for mags and ammo
Gzus Kryst 53
What problems you having with your dpms lr 308 Mine has worked great, was thinking about getting a .243 upper for it
