  1. For functional accuracy the VEPR has a thicker barrel and a little more attention paid to the alignment of barrel parts crowning the rest is cosmetic. I don't want the weight of the heavier barrel since the Saiga is heavy enough and the first thing I did with my current S308 is cut, crown and thread so I know my crown is better than either a VEPR or a Saiga factory version but I have yet to find an adequate optic and ammo to wring it out completely but with Saigas creeping into the rareified 1" territory with some of our more involved target shooters on this board I think I dodged a bullet
  2. It's meant to be a prone firing position stock. It would be ideal with a bipod and a scope if that was your bag...
  3. Hold the trigger all the way back, half way bag and static while working the bolt carrier and see if the trigger is jumping when you do then repeat the same excercise pulling the trigger each time to see if it will work right.
  4. I'm willing to wait patiently since I made a pest out of myself on the first batch These mags will probably be the last of their kind ever available in the USA once the Dems take power in 2008 so by 2009 these might be worth $100ea so keep them coming and if possible drop the price so I can afford about 100 more of them
  5. I gave up on the Saiga 20 when I couldn't find any Hicap mags for them and now I don't even see the guns anymmore..
  6. Hand Tools? Not gonna happen.Where is your original front sight? It can be bored out and moved back on the barrel leaving you a nipple to work with and you could ream whatever muzzle device you planned on using to press fit and then cross drill and pin it in place. If you can press the barrel off you can send it out to be turned and it should go right back to headspace when you reinstall it.
  7. That's awsome!! Now stick a BAR mag in it and let's get busy
  8. I'll bet you could make some It's just a sheetmetal bracket and a piece of vulcanized rubber?
  9. Israeli gun ownership has been restricted since Primeminister Rabin was killed by a disgruntled settler. The good news is that you can volunteer for all sorts of things that will get you a weapon to use from the goverment but you don't get to own one without jumping through a bunch of hoops. You can buy a machinegun in the Palestinian Territory for a few bucks but you gotta know someone to get a permit in Israel. Used to be an Israeli citizen could buy anything they wanted without any kind of hassle but the Globalists have taken over Israel and are as gun control crazy as their European
  10. What is the maximum temperature rating of that stuff? I was about to run some filler rod into my mag well and then mill it out to tighten up for the 20rd mag wobble but I don't really feel like bead blasting and refinishing if I can avoid it.
  11. This is the poll they will try to show US lawmakers to make them think that banning our guns is a top priority so hit this poll and strongly disagree right now!! http://www.bradynetwork.org/site/PageServe...%20ritiesSurvey

    My .308's

Funny, you should ask Shaneman. I was just playing w/ it last night ( I know...I know...would "my 16" " or "woodie" have sounded better? Nah.) and with both the 8 Rd. and 20 Rd. mags and noticing that it's really well balanced. It's a good extra benefit. You need to take some more pics and post them in the pic thread at the top of the main 308 page It looks really good and has me wanting to do a full on 308 RPK
  14. I'll take at least one 10 pack.. and I want some 8rd mags as well
  15. Well since you have done half of the MRBS testing for me I'll have to get a case and do the other half of the testing myself 22rds is better than 20rds if only a tiny bit
  16. Well cosmetically it's lightyears beyond the "Russian Kids w/ Cans of Krylon" finish that our Saigas come with and it does have a nice folding stock but are they worth $2200 over the cost of a Saiga?
  17. Only because it's got a gas cutoff like an FAL or Yugo M70 but it's piston/carrier is basically identical to a Kalashnikov but it is in two seperate pieces instead of a unitized carrier and piston like the AK. Does this look familiar?
  18. Why? What does it do better than a Kalashnikov? I was all hot for it but after reading about it I can't really see the advantage over a properly prepared Saiga or VEPR other than "cool factor". Similar operating system Similar accuracy Similar magazine changes Other than a bolt hold open and being able to flip the receiver halves open to do field repairs it offers no advantage over a my custom Saiga.. Now if they gave it a push button magazine release in the index finger location, straight insertion magazines, left side charging handle like an FN/FAL then I might have to gi
  19. Have you gotten a chance to do any more mag testing? Especially the one with the short follower
  20. Even though it's bolt, trunnion and the rear portion of it's carrier is directly copied form a Kalashnikov it is still technically a different weapon.
  21. I can't get the damned pocket flaps to stay stowed correctly when I open the pouches and it covers too much of the magazine for my tastes but I suppose they will have to do until I can find something better
