  1. those would be sweet but, i would think of it this way if we were too ever see those come to our shores, most likely would look like the current saigas being imported, with the sporter stock trigger housing all the way to the rear, single stack only, non traditional hg etc...just to get them here as per importation laws. i have my name on a list for the vepr-12s that will be hitting our shores, but will also be losing all those cool factors just like the picture above, damn these import laws.
  2. since its his first post, does not say he owns it or not, but if you do more details please. i can see for one that the rail mount is way to high vs the hight of the stock, more like a bottom chin weld againts the stock(awkward) but cool to add a side folding stock. most likely built in canada some where, as the longer barrel as the 858 is known for and maximum round hold of 5 rounds, indication of the rivet on the mag limiting to 5 rounds.
  3. my local ffl dealer has one sitting in his shop, and noticed it has a permanent attached muzzle brake looks to be ak74 style for the .308. when i say permanent, they actually welded the brake to the barrel. then found out from a friend that back in the day these were less than 16" and had to weld the brake on. told me also this was probably one of the early imports, but not really sure.
  4. ok gotcha, i know what you mean about front heavy, tried shooting it off hand and it wasnt pretty ha,ha
  5. nice, so you removed the original bipod? cause i had doubts on accuracy using the original bipod but it actually shoots really well with it.
  6. try a fine wire wheel and a drill, but i would experiment on something else first
  7. datrol, the night brake i removed from my rpk and put it on my mini just to show it went on with no problems, but after i rethreaded it with the rpk. from L-R, slant muzzle/norinco 84s-1/tapco brake/krink brake/ and the night brake on the mini, all of went on my rpk/mini/psl/84s-1 with no problems. im thinkin it could be the threads on the night brake just a lil off.
  8. very nice, could only imagine what hand loads could do. at what distance were you shooting to get those groups?
  9. datrowl, i think your refering to the night brake correct? if so, i had the same problem on my rpk. couple turns and then stops, not sure why. but noticed when i took a screw driver stuck it between the brake and kept turning backing off noticed that the threads on my rpk were not damaged, but the night brake metal seems to be softer in turn i just rethreaded the night brake with my rpk threads, though you should do this at your own risk. will tak e some pics and post up later.
  10. fun little pistols and pretty accurate for a short barrel
  11. thanks, took your advice and its the dust cover denting my brass. actually ejected like 25' and 5 o'clock behind me, need to modify a rubber pad or something to try out
  12. wow first post, and you put this up back on topic, bps12 no worries on the brass as stated above. i have a norinco 84s1 that beats the hell outa my brass but still reloadable and have shot them with no problems. my first shots with my new vepr and this is what i got but thanks all for info regarding this now time to figure if its my charging handle or dust cover
  13. agreed with mathew hopkins on this, our importers/dealers had already dealt with the headaches just to bring them in accordingly to our laws. but yeah i understand people are looking for the cugir factory psls which seem to be harder to come by, but they are out there.....somewhere.
  14. oh boy i can see this already or how about the vepr in 54r vs saiga 54r...........oh wait, they dont have one
  15. Amen... Arik, no kiddin hunh, i trust my chicoms this much wow 5.45 norinco rare breed...nice
  16. cant beat that price, but nowadays if you want it, get it and move on. i know what you mean about the stock, but the wire stock is rock solid and comfy when using irons. got tired of searching for a rpk stock, so decided to go a different route to my rpk
  17. is it used? and if it is, i would recommend spending another $99.95 and getting a brand new one from jgsales the romanian aes-10b.
  18. nice rifles man, congrats. i also have the same exact style as your psl, and a super vepr on its way. as for shooting HB maybe you could but double check your manual first. another forum/member also purchased the 54r and posted pics of the recoil spring for the bolt/carrier seems to be 2 springs seperated by a small washer, and both springs seem to be different in size, maybe just maybe this is so you could shoot HB.
  19. my first mosin a m38 but i really want get a 91/30 now. shot the m38 last weekend, this was shot at 50 yards, sitting
  20. bp i know what you mean with the thin pg as i dont like them either, prob gonna get a saw pg. when i used my psl scope with the wire stock, its very uncomfortable for me. but since you added extension you should be o.k. im just trying to picture in my head your bullpup project that will be pretty cool and unique, post pics when done. mt predator, as far as i know all rpks have thicker receivers and front trunions and barrels their version their squad automatic rifle thats why its built like a tank, the romy rpk reciever is 1.6mm thick as compared to the thinner standard wasr of 1mm thi
  21. bps12, yes mine has them spot welded on also, both sides. yes would be nice to have the dimple on there, as long as my mags sit right and feeds with no problems im gtg. forgot to mention the rear sight adjustment for windage works great, practically eliminates using the front sight adj. tool for adjusting windage heres mine when i first shot it, shots were high and right. so made some adjustments but getting there target is 4-1/2" in diameter and shot at 50yards,20 rnds. standing with bi-plod deployed on table, using irons. top right is at 25yards with psl scope
  22. bps12 congrats on your purchase, mine came in 3 weeks ago and very pleased with it. was actually surprised with all matching numbers including the hg, and i do beleive they are chromelined barrels at least when looking at mine. as for the odd cut next to the mag port, my research led me to when these were imported they were single stack, then cai opened them up for double stack mags, thats why mine has some serious magazine play, cai i think went over board on opening them up, othere than that i am pleased with the aes-10b smooth action, great trigger, thicker barrel, side scope mount, adjustab
  23. i placed an order about 2-1/2 months ago, long wait but hopefully will be in soon. heres a video clip from atlantic firearms
  24. bps12 congrats, i myself could not take it any longer and purchased one yesterday through jg sales, roughly 2 weeks for delivery. did someone mention 16" rpk? found this on the net, but if anything might as well get a vepr
