  1. Yes, you have to pull back the spring and hold it while you drive out the pin to remove the rear spring. It can be a bit of a bitch, I used a small vice and a pair of plastic grippers to hold the spring back while I worked the pin out. Make sure your punch is not flimsy as that steel pin will bend aluminum in some cases.
  2. 2012, the new year 2000.......... Kwicko is right, it is not the end of the world, just the logical end of that calendar.
  3. My 2 cents is that the canted version is fine, but it looks weird to me. I like symmetry with the look of my guns and the canted version looks like it was installed incorrectly. Someone told me once that the canted ones tend to put more pressure on the mount when you torque it, so he preferred the straight under the barrel type.
  4. Some members complain that their sites are a bit high or low, but despite getting a vodka special, this was one thing that was dead on with my shotgun.
  5. You will be passing this gun down for generations if you take care of it.
  6. Hi everybody, I like to post positive feedback on our business members when I have a good experience. I just wanted to say I had a great one with MAA this week. I ordered my fugly stick, which rocks by the way, on Wed and received everything Sat. Fast service and a 5% discount for Saiga-12 forum members is appreciated. If you ever doubted working with MAA, dont! Thanks MAA.
  7. Looks cool, can you post better pics as they are hard to see the detail? I ordered a fugly stick from MAA this week instead of this one, but I just cant make up my mind as to how my saiga should look "in the end" if there is such a thing. I guess I am obsessed!
  8. Ive had the same experience with gun transactions. I may have to wait a while, but everyone does get me what I ordered and I have yet to get something that was not as advertised. I don't always find them to be nice, but they are honest and business like.
  9. Hooray! Great news. Every healthy baby born is a miracle. Enjoy your new grandson!

  11. Some will disagree with me on this one, but I tigged up the side gas port as I initially had an undergassed gun. What was weird on my friends 21 inch version was when he removed the factory handguard, he lost so much pressure that he had to tig it shut. We concluded that the back pressure of the factory handguard helped the 21 inch cycle while mine (19 in) was not as sensitive. Cobra noted he did some test where he used scotch tape to cover the hole and it didnt even blow off the tape when he fired slugs. This may be one of those manufacturing run things. Closing the hole will certainly void y
  12. If the bolt is open with one chambered and a full mag, I agree that it wont work. You will potentially stovepipe the round if it even lets the bolt move forward. Sounds dangerous to me so just use a mag and follow the normal process is my advice.
  13. Here was a good recent article on a 410 g pistol that Jeff did which caught my eye. I know he looks rough, but I think he knows his stuff. http://www.gunblast.com/Taurus-Judge.htm
  14. Heres a good survival guide on how to survive the zombie apocalypse. ;-) http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearc...de%2FMax-Brooks But I digress. To your actual question, I assume you mean wilderness survival. There are actually quite a few web based sites on wilderness survival. Here is a couple you may like. http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/wilde...vival/basic.htm http://www.survivaliq.com/
  15. I have one, but its not exactly an accidental discharge. When I was 16, I decided to cut school one day. My friend had built from scratch a 22 cal pistol (zip gun) and the way it worked was you put a primer cap on the end of a nipple, and with the load packed in like a muzzle loader you pull the trigger and the primer sends the ignition through the nipple into the barrel. Well my friend shot several rounds without issue, and when it was my turn, when I pulled the trigger the primer fragged into small pieces, one hit my squinty eye, right in the cornea. Blood started pouring out and I went to t
  16. I agree with Azrial since I like folders. If you want to use a folder, this is the way to go. If you dont plan on that and want to use a wood stock or some AK variety, it may be best to leave it be. The weld on plate is a great way to mount a folding stock solid while improving the structural integrity of the rear end. Its so solid, but its much harder to reverse if you want to use an internal type stock. The internal receiver blocks are more expensive than the attachments you can get once you have your folder mechanism. On the side mount, Ive had some issues with keeping zeroed when usin
  17. This was a very odd case. It would be hard to recreate the circumstances I am sure. Maybe a job for mythbusters. What has always amazed me is the #1 murder cal in the US is .22. Guess its the way it rattles around once it gets inside. You would think its not powerful enough, but as my marine friend says, we are just pink fleshy things anyhow.
  18. +1 to gunbroker.com. they have a large variety.
  19. Sorry race girl. I know what you are going through. We had a 2 lb tumor removed from my dog today. They had to take out the entire spleen. I pray its not cancer and didnt spread before they got it out. Its so hard to lose a good dog, and go through the whole process. My thoughts are with you.

  21. Im looking for a cheek pad that is soft and helps make it easier to shoot using an ACE skeleton folder. Ive seen some hard plastic ones, but I need something to absorb slug impact that fits the Ace. Anybody recommend a certain one? Greg, if you see this, is this padded or hard plastic? http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/se...on-cheek/Detail
