  1. The longer barrel only makes sense with a .308. The 7.62x39 cartridge does not appreciably benefit from the extra length. At the very least, I recommend handling a 16" barrelled AK, and comparing that in person to one with a longer barrel. I think you'll find yourself favoring the 16" model. If you buy one with a 20" barrel, you'll almost certainly regret it down the road, and you'll end up here, (and perhaps other forums), asking about the best way to cut it down and recrown it. You can doubt me if you choose to, but few here will dispute that I generally know WTF I'm talking about
  2. Ha, prolly cause you can't appreciate the ~2 sec I saved there by not typing probably. hey buddy, i wouldn't be able to afford to shoot my .308s if it wasn't for tulammo RH, how is the Tulammo .308? The Russian .308 I've favored thus far has been Brown Bear.
  3. Excuse me.. are we talking about ARs or AKs here? If it's Kalashnikovs, if your brass is not brass, you're just fuckin smart.
  4. I'll just add that if you do get a Saiga in 7.62x39, (everyone should own a couple), go with a 16" barrel. There's no point in using a longer barrel with this caliber, and 4 extra inches hangin off the front end is more of a PITA than you'd think. 16" is much more maneuverable, and also the length the rifle was designed to use.
  5. These FEG AMD-65s look like great rifles for the price. I don't really like the looks, but I could get used to em. One of these is on my short list, but after buying a "suprise", (wasn't planning on it till I saw the ad), unfired SA M-7 Classic last week, my gun fund's runnin a bit low again. I may sell a gun to fund one of these, though. I have a feeling they won't be around that much longer, for decent prices anyway.
  6. No, but it can severely limit your choice of stocks. I wish Bonesteel had come out with their folding mech a few years ago.. my S-12 would still have her tang.. and I could put a Slide Fire on her to see how well the Tromix Monster Brake really works.
  7. Found this one... Looks like face herpes. No kissing. Personally, I could live with that, just so long as she doesn't have the other kind as well!
  8. Clearly you are a well-adjusted gentleman with no particular opinions on this matter, and I find your contributions to this discussion to be very well taken! In all seriousness though, I do like the look of the bullpup shell, and I think it is a very functional device - at least in theory. Assuming that I can get it to actually work we'll see how it is for functionality, as I will admit that I have some concerns about the trigger pull and trigger linkage. Don't get me wrong, I like the converted setup as well, and that is one of the main reasons that I want to be able to switch back and fo
  9. I spose you could co-witness the red dot with the irons before every shot, if you wanted to, but it's entirely unnecessary. When the Micro's in place and turned on, I just put the dot on what I want to destroy and generally ignore the irons. If it's been ~5 years since the last battery change and the Micro dies unexpectedly, I can still use the irons without removing the optic. The H&K irons certainly allow very fast target acquisition, but not as fast as the red dot.
  10. If this incident doesn't prove to people how stupid it is to post personal info about themselves online, especially on Face EvidenceBook, I don't know what will. And the "drugs" charge is almost certainly a tiny amount of marijuana, otherwise the Fed Gubmint goons would be bragging about seizing "cocaine and meth" or whatever.
  11. I wonder how much you'd have to cut off the pg to get proper, standard magazines to fit. In Bjorn's defense, his Kushnap is specifically marketed for Saiga-12s, not the rifles.
  12. Why bother? They all look the same, (yet another reason to go with better parts). *yawn* Glad you said that! I dig the design, but it was a little too much like the pistols used in the 80's sitcom "v", so I redesigned mine and with the help of my good friend Tom bostic, this is my personal one off of the Kushnapup That is a hell of an improvement, I have to admit. Nicely done.
  13. Got a side shot of this set-up? The Aimpoint Micro and H&K sights cowitness easily and comfortably. Obviously this was not a cheap way to go, but I think the result is worth it. For aftermarket irons that anyone can install himself with simple hand tools; Krebs are a good way to go. I used those initially before I decided to go this direction with this S-12, (Mike at Lone Star Arms did the soldering, barrel chop, etc, i.e. all the hard stuff ).
  14. What an douchebag comment. Maybe Gabe should wait until his butthurt fades before posting.
  15. i wouldn't be too insulted if i could get one for $500 the slant cut on the imported one would definitely be a deal killer, i'd rather have an 030 +1. Fuck a slant-cut. I'm pickin up a 030 as soon as I can scrape the funds together.
  16. If I were you, I'd contact another professional S-12 gunsmith. It'll come as no suprise to most on this forum that I'll recommend Mike Rogers of Lone Star Arms. His builds are different from Tony's, but in no way inferior, imo. Also, if you go with LSA, you're likely to have your S-12 completed, (customized with many more options than Tromix offers.. just sayin), and back in your hands within 4-6 weeks, (and possibly faster). I can't think of any other top tier custom S-12 gunsmith that I can say the same about.
  17. Yes, portability is key. My bullpup kit for this is "in the final stages of production": I'll be accepting pre-orders soon...
  18. You're going to unconvert your S-12 just so you can put a Kushnacrap on it? Good Lord... that's just so damned wrong. It's your gun, but you're seriously offending the AK Gods here. If you must use that fugly bullpup shell, I think you should sell your current S-12, instead of re-fucking it with the "sporter" trigger group, and use the money to buy a new sporter to inflict that thing on. That way someone else will get to enjoy your S-12 in it's current, proper configuration.
  19. That's a pussy rnd as well. The .666 Beast has world-stopping power.
  20. It's a pity that it's necessary to do so. I think US manufacturers could make S-12 mags that are just as durable and reliable, but they'd have to give a shit first. Mike Davidson is the only US mag manufacturer who seems to, hence his MD20 drum's exceptional performance. I expect his double-stack mags will offer similar reliability.. but SGM, AGP, and "Pro"-Mag? They just keep cranking out sub-par crap and seem perfectly happy to continue doing so.
  21. The "LE only" model doesn't interest me, just more gun porn of a cool long gun I'll never have. In fact; I don't really like the thought of our para-military "law enforcement" ossifers sporting Vepr-12s, just itchin to find an excuse to use em. Cops do not need these, they outgun the citizenry badly enough as it is. It'd be great if some of our military had the option to carry the Vepr-12, but the dipshit Pentagon will never allow that. They'd rather pay more for vastly inferior 'merican shotgun designs like the AA-12. I'd like to see some pics of how the "standard" imported mode
  22. Looks great, pfbz, and thanks for sharing some tips that made the process easier.
