  1. Nice work on getting accepted for a PhD program, in physics no less. Any thesis ideas? BTW, I'm pretty jealous. I suck at physics, and I'm looking to start grad school myself this fall (hopefully). I just want to get it done.
  2. In NH, you can't drive around with a loaded rifle/shotgun, ie one in the chamber, no matter if you have a CCW or not. However, you can carry a concealed pistol without a license, just as long as you keep the loaded magazine out of the weapon. You can then load it when you need to, making it an open carry piece. Pretty weird.
  3. Used to do old toasters and stuffed animals. Stuffed animals throw stuffing and they actually hold up pretty well. Spray paint cans are fun as well, sometimes ol' Wally-Mart has them for sale real cheap (25 cents a can). They pop and spin all over the place, especially fun on new snow.
  4. Smoke a bunch of cigars in his truck, ie hotbox it with cigars. I did that in high school with four other friends to someones car, and we left two going with the windows up. You would not belive how bad stale cigar smoke smells, and for how long it lasts. Also, cheese or fishsticks behind the visors are good too.
  5. Looks nice. You use a router to cut those slots or a hole saw and then a hand saw to open it up? I made a rack for my fishing poles in a similar way, just oriented horizontally instead of vertically.
  6. There are no fleet vehicles that are manuals, only autos now, mostly because manuals are a dying art. I had a friend learn on borrowed cars from dealers, never had a problem. I'd have her practice on something with a little less giddy-up, it's hard to control all that power when you don't really know what you're doing. Maybe a manual Accord or Camry, something under 200 ponies. When I was first learning, I used my dad's Mazda Protege, and I still managed to lay a patch with it. Good luck, and practice on an empty stomach. Don't ask how I know this.
  7. When I got my first gun, I was out shooting skeet at a friends house. A spider caught my attention and I looked down and took a step back. I brought the gun down with my eyes, and it slipped forward, and there was suddenly a hole where my foot had been not a half second earlier. I almost blew my own friggin foot off. On a side note, that spider was toast. That incident taught me quite a bit about gun safety. Like focusing on the gun, and putting the safety on.
  8. How big is this area? Would a fence work? I know they aren't cheap, but it could work. And, there's always good old rat poison. I don't think it gets any quieter than that.
  9. How are these people going to eat? I've had some English cooking, and that poor knife could barely hack it's way through. Anti-stab knife. When are they going to perfect the bat that can't hit people?
  10. Oh yeah. Comics were my first love ever. Spidey, X-men, Fathom, Danger Girl, Gen-13. Now I have a sub to Ghost Rider. That is a good book. I mean, who doesn't love a flaming skeleton riding a motorcycle?
  11. Hahahahahaha. This reminds me of my more frugal days, when I made 'tomato soup' out of hot water and ketchup. Man, those were the days.
  12. Why is it nuts like these always feel the need to take people with them? Did not expect to see that poor kid get shot though. Feel really bad for the rest of his family.
  13. This was my basic point. Thanks for illustrating more clearly than I could. And I was never sticking up for Detriot. I think it's a massive shit sandwich that we are all being forced to take a bite of, smile, then ask for seconds. I think regulations and laws come from idiots. They have to try to protect these people from themselves and from suing the bejesus out of everyone around them. Look at McDonald's. I don't think they ever intended for that woman to hold her coffee in her groin area.
  14. Whether or not you believe in global warming, I see nothing wrong with trying to do things more efficiently and by using less carbon based fuels. I would personally enjoy getting 600 miles per tank. NOAA has some good graphs concerning CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere if you are so inclined. And I think it would take a lot more than the elimination of CAFE to get Detroit moving again. But that's another story. In all events, just stay on the lookout for Manbearpig.
  15. I don't know, RPG's kind of scare me. So do people who are willing to die just to make money. Then again, the pics did show them being captured by the French.
  16. Thanks for the info, just thought it might be interesting.
  17. Hello, I just got a Saiga 7.62 already modified and I like it a lot. I'm thinking of the next one I get. I was wondering if a gun can be coated in Line-X? If this is a stupid question, let me know. I don't really have much experience with this sort of thing. Thanks for the input.
