  1. Eh, I wouldn't bother. 10 gauge is fun for a bit, then when you have to start paying for lots of ammo, it will wear you down. Over a buck a shot and a large amount of recoil doesn't really do it for me. I know what you're saying though, it could be fun. The funny thing is that 10 gauge is the first real gun I shot. Blew itself right out of my hands. The buckshot/slug is not that much more impressive than 12. Just louder and more recoil. I'd get a nicer 12 before I got a 10.
  2. I've shot ~200 rounds through the SIG516. It's not a bad rifle, relatively light, and fairly accurate. Real loud though. I'm not a fan of AR-style rifles as a general rule, they just don't fit me well, but this one was pretty close. As an extra bump for their reliability, the 516 I shot didn't even have grease on it, just Rem oil. The guy who let me try his rifle out hadn't really looked into grease and disliked cleaning his weapons, but this gun still ran well. It's not a knock on the guy cause I like him, but it's not the way I would treat a rifle that expensive. I didn't vote
  3. This is somewhere in the realm of myth and chemistry. I've heard of stainless steel for removing onion and garlic smell, but have never had this work for me. I've tried using spoons and such, no luck. This kind of thing might work if it's impregnated with either colloidal silver or copper, both of which are poisonous to bacteria. The bacteria is what is responsible for the smell, it's actually them degrading your sweat and other secretions. The silver/copper thing is actually fairly common, I think there are a few cities that use the metals in their subway and bus grabrails for anti-mi
  4. Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous. I didn't think I was going to like it, but that made a believer out of me. How heavy is it now? From the previous posts, it makes it sound really heavy. I still can't get over how nice that looks.
  5. Windmills: Windmill More windmill info Patriot is right; most windmills are loud. This one is supposed to be way quieter. It's meant to be mounted on a house, so it has to be relatively quiet.
  6. GOB is right. I was looking at doing something like this for a first house. Totally customizable, and if you need more space you get another container and weld it on. Need guest quarters? Get a half-size and weld it on. They also come in tall sizes, so you could have one with 10 ft ceilings. The other option is geodesic dome homes. This is another thing I seriously considered. Check them out here: Concrete Dome Cabins This is a really cool idea, and there are many other options as well. Cheap, fast, durable, and well-insulated. I still may do either one of these, and eventuall
  7. Mike O'Malley. I stopped for him in a crosswalk when no one else did, and he thanked me. The second is Bruce Campbell, real nice guy and real funny.
  8. Chuck Norris put the laughter in manslaughter Also, Chuck Norris doesn't eat honey, he chews bees.
  9. The biggest problem I have with this show is that it's giving me too many ideas and adding to the list of guns I need. Also, the fact it is distracting me from a project for school isn't helping to sweeten the pot either. Ah well, it's good to see someone from the firearms industry highlighted in a positive manner.
  10. The addiction isn't really as bad as I was saying, it was more of a joke. It was more when I turned 18, I got hooked on scratch tickets. I was buying them 20 at a time and having a blast. Filled a whole shoe box. Thanks for the kind words though, and I will def make sure I have limits, if I even do this.
  11. I think you've got me hooked, I'm afraid to admit. I just liked watching the numbers run around, and the possibility of a deal. But, I also had a bit of a gambling addiction for awhile. How much do these "pennies" cost? It seems to me like some kind of token-style game, a Chuck E. Cheese exchange for tickets thing. I may have to register and report back.
  12. Has anyone here used the metal Tantal/5.45 mags in their Saiga? I shot a 5.45 last week for the first time in years, and I remembered how much fun it is. I am thinking about getting one, but I don't want to be doomed to plastic mags. Anyone used the metal mags? Pluses or minuses? Thanks.
  13. Good luck with it, and I hope someone else chimes in with their experience. I'd be nervous about shooting it if it isn't absolutely square. Check around an see what you can find.
  14. Did you use any sort of cutting oil when you were using the die cutter? Any kind of lubricant works wonders when you are threading metal, I'll bet even motor oil would work. It looks like it started to go off track and cracked/flaked off. How'd the threads come out? Edit to Add: I'd go far enough to have all the threads engage on the muzzle brake. Otherwise, you'll have to clean gunk from the unused threads.
  15. I think it's be hard to turn or manuever at all. I don't think they would be looked upon too kindly, depending on where you are. I wouldn't bother with them. Out by me, there a couple trucks that have them, they're used to groom the snowmobile trails. To be honest, as far as being a winter warrior, it's hard to beat a good quality set of studded snows and good driving skills. Also, out here, you can run studded snows year-round.
  16. I've got no real problems with snow until I have to shovel it. I'm too cheap for a snowblower, cuts into my gun fund too much. We got 17+ inches in about 14 hours last week. I really hate ice. '98 was bad, but '08 was even worse. I got lucky, we got power back about 24 hours after it went out. A guy I work with was out for 13 days. Luckily enough, we're supposed to get ice again this Tuesday.
  17. What about a SIG P239? As far as accuracy and reliability are concerned, I don't think it could be beat. Plus, you can choose between 9mm, 40, or .357SIG. And I think its 7-9 rounds depending on caliber you choose. I think it's slim enough and small enough to easily hide either IWB or OWB.
  18. Those things are way cool. The reason they cost so much is because you can only shoot it a couple of times, some only once before the acceleration apparatus breaks. The smoke/fire I believe is plasma, the fourth state of matter. I want to make one, but I don't have a few spare thousand dollars kicking around. Wasn't there something with a satellite network using railguns firing from space? Or was that a bad movie I saw?
  19. This isn't exactly what you mentioned, but I think it's kind of along the same lines. I don't usually like things like lights and red this and ergo that, but I think it would be kind of interesting to put a forward grip on a Draco. I'm not sure how it would really work, I've never shot a Draco, but I've always sort of thought it would be an interesting experiment. Hope you feel better soon, and wish you a speedy recovery.
  20. It's every ten miles is one straight mile to be used as a runway for planes. It's not just for military purposes, they can be used by planes in an emergency. I think 2 planes in MA this year touched down on highways, I think 495 and 95. I think the weirdest part is that there is only 3 that actually go across the country.
  21. One of my favorite scenes was when he had sex in the full body condom and it just kept squeaking and making rubber on rubber sounds.
  22. I know the one you mean ChileRelleno. She had somehow cooked her arms off on a high voltage wire when she was younger and just grew up that way. Either way, I wouldn't be able to do half the shit either does if I lost my hands/arms.
  23. Truly inspiring and amazing. That said, how do you acquire a skill like that? I'd be petrified of a slip and injuring myself.
  24. May I be the first to welcome you to NH. It is a shall-issue state, with open carry. I think the permit is 10 bucks. I believe you can carry concealed as long as the weapon isn't loaded (mag on one hip, gun on the other). There is no sales tax, (property is high though), and liqour stores are open on Sunday. The downside is that the DES closed all the sand pits where you could shoot for free. I have to join a range now, which kind of sucks, but so does contaminated drinking water. If you have any other questions send me a note. I've lived in NH all my life, and I don't ever pl
  25. What a reaction time on that dude. He had time to look at what was (or wasn't) in his hands before he threw it down. A little Elder Son part II?
