The CAA COLLAPSIBLE TUBE is a quality piece of hardware, but be ready to do some modifying or grinding if you use a bolt on style DIY trigger guard on a converted rifle. The rear mounting bolt head interferes with the insertion of the CAA tube. Absolutely nothing wrong with either part... they just try to occupy the same space.

It depends on where you're shipping it. You can leave the entire thing assembled, box it up real secure, and FedEx it to yourself in another state if you want to. Hell, even the USPS will ship it. You will need to ship it to a FFL for the receiver (the only controlled part the ATF is concerned about) if you ship it to another person other than yourself.

Right on! The gas block is easy to pull. The barrel itself is a little harder, if you go that route. Probe around in there and figure out how many ports it has; you might not have to do anything with the gas system if it already has a decent setup. Depending on what flash suppressor you plan on using I figure you'll be cutting off somewhere between 5 or 6 inches to bring it down to 18.25" total. First, as stated above, ensure that it has a working gas system. The last thing you want is a single shot Saiga 12. Second, if you plan on cutting the barrel anyway, then I would do as you plan and buy the cheapest model I could find. 1911 springs, really? No reliability concerns? No issues, but you're going to need to know what weight you want to use. The 1911 springs are rated through a very large range from 3 or 4 lbs all the way to 28 lbs or more (and every lb between those). Go to one of the vendors TonyRumore suggested. I've cut them with a quality tubing cutter before, and as Azrial said, be careful with the feed or you can end up with an oval barrel. I usually pull the barrels and take them to the machine shop, but I understand not everybody has that opportunity. That's been covered here several times. You may need to use a flat file on the barrel to remove just a few .001's of paint/metal for clearance on the gas knob. Somebody said they had seen one from the factory with a flat spot on the barrel and painted over. True, I've seen those threads too, but I don't really consider that a "fix"...

Welcome from Gilbert... That thing can be fine tuned to shoot (even low brass) from the hip if you want. Just needs a little TLC.

Check to see if it is rubbing on the barrel. One of my S-12's does this and only gets worse as all the metal expands from heating it up at the range. I don't have a fix for this, yet, but it sure sucks.

I don't think there's any reason to use the Loctite. The PolyChoke snugs down really tight on the barrel (unless you have altered the threads in some way). After the barrel gets heat cycled from a couple hundred rounds at the range the blue Loctite is compromised anyway.
