  1. Jay, you are the man =o) If I can get ahold of the guys and just cancel the order I think I have a line on another supply. If not I'd be more than happy to replace it asap. I hate to ask you to do anything more for me than you've already done, lord knows you've gone above and beyond already. Tony, its not the out of stock that bothers me Boss, its not the out of stock and showing IN stock that bothers me.. what bothers me is the 5 phonecalls and 2 emails over a 10 day stretch that have not been responded to... I understand people run out of stock on merch, I understand not all stock track
  2. Silly thing is the company in referance is not a ... small mom and pop shop.. they are supposed to be big time wheeler and dealers. Thats the reason I chose them over a few other options when I had to track down a supply for what CSS was out of. I have the guys at Fuglystick and Alumilight CUSTOM MANUFACTUREING parts for me, and THEY will have the parts MADE, sent out and powder coated, get them back and STILL have them to me before these guys get my FCG and ace folding stock adaptor to me. If they were less important parts no worries, I'd just use what I had till they showed perhaps with some
  3. aye, but you asked specifically about the linkage, which only exists on the new US import version, the design that appeared in the 70s had no linkage, it used the profile WE convert ( or restore ) it BACK to... the whole linkage thing, is a US import restriction thing, on new guns being pushed into the US to generate cashflow... without the NEED to generate market share, the linkage itself wouldnt exist... who else is gonna buy these? most militaries now days are not buying new AKs in bulk... no where else in the world can you walk into any one of 5 stores in your home town and buy a
  4. Perhaps more inventor than entrepreneur.. but he's worked at that factory most of his life, in many ways he's responsible for its existance, and he's still there, perhaps in some dark back room with his drafting table ploting and specing some new design. After that many years doing anything you have that much history in and responsibality for it has to be a bit like " comeing home " everytime you walk in the door. That factory is where he designs and builds, and if it goes ka-put, alot of his life goes ka-put as well... I'll never believe he dosen't at least hold an honerary seat on the bo
  5. I REALLY think thats gonna be my go to home defense gun at some point. Pump argueably more reliable than an auto in the dark of night with the adrinalin pumping. Short enough to be useful in the house... and abality to switch almost instantly from non lethal rounds to lethal rounds... its a good house gun, not good for much else IMHO, but a good house gun
  6. The NEED to bypass import restrictions to get the guns to market quickly ( MK had to have known what financial dire straights Izhmash factory was in ) will make a man do things he wouldn't normally consider. On top of this, the manor in which the whole conversion took place, and the ease in which its reversed leads me to believe he designed it in haste, and desperation, with a fair knowledge that it could and indeed would be reversed once the import process was finalised by the end user... The man is brilliant, give him credit for haveing enough smarts to bypass the laws and still end up
  7. Reminds me of my PLR16 and that gun is FUN! but I find the noise, even thru electronic muffs and foam earplugs together is near unbearable not only for me, but for those around me as well. Haven't shot that thing in forever due to exactly that reason... This one looks fun too.. but I'll give ya 50 to 1 most of em that sell end up getting shot about as much as my PLR LOL.
  8. MY SHTF gun looks very different than most. IMHO sitting still is the easiest way to have someone with more gun, more ammo, more patience or whatever to soon own everything you once did. Movement is gonna be key and your gonna wanna try and keep out of sight rathor than run around with an assault rifle and backpack full of thousands of rounds drawing attention to yourself. I'm building a Thompson Contender package. Small enough to be hidden in urban/populated areas. Variety of barrel packages, 5.56, 7.62, 308, 30.06, 22, 410, you could add just about anything popular in your area
  9. /RANT ON Ok so I'm going nuts maby... I've finally got around to converting my S12 and got all my parts ordered... thats the easy part. I ordered from several different suppliers ( most all buisness members ) due to out of stocks in one location or another. Now, don't get me wrong.. I fully understand not all companies are created equal, and distance from their door to mine effects ship times... What i DO have issue with is the fact that I can place several orders to several different suppliers, GET my order from CSS... place ANOTHER order from CSS, GET the SECOND order from CSS..
  10. An idea, if your honestly worried about the mark it leaves on the side of the weapon body. Could you not just dip the tip of the safty ( say the back 2 inches ) in plastic tooldip and let it dry? This stuff has a vinyl like feel once dry and would actually also make the safty more comfortable to use as well assumeing you had a standard safty with the sharp cut sheet metal edges. Lowe's sells the basic black dip for like 4 bucks a can... if my memory is right. Not sure how long it would last but 1 can would redip a safty almost forever.... I dunno, just thinking out loud... 12. Looks ok for a basic ( and I do mean BASIC ) conversion, though, just a heads up... his prices are all listed + parts. that T1 conversion is gonna end up running ya closer to double his listed price, time its all said and done, meh, you'd prolly have more fun and just as good a job done doing it yourself. IF you have no tools whatsoever, and happon to live close enough to him to drop it off on the way to work... maby.. but for the same cost as a T1 conversion, I'd get a dremel, punches, and set of allen wrenches and do my own, at least you'll have the tools when your done. Watch the CS

  14. Normal, no, UNUSUAL?.... not so much eithor.. VERY FEW Saigas LIKE low power shells, but with very minor parts and no tools can be coaxed to run them.. Assumeing the test fireing on low power shells was done on the proper gas setting to start with and not on setting 1 which is for highbrass, buckshot, slugs etc. Usually easily fixed by adding a new gas plug and possibly a booster puck, can also go to a low power spring. If that dosent fix the issue it gets a bit more complicated and a polish and reprofile job on the bolt and carrier might be in order. All of this assumeing you've F
  15. Sounds like the bolt that holds the grip on is too long, though, thats just a guess from someone who's pretty new to the conversion game. Seems I remember hearing that is a fairly common problem and can be fixed by whacking a bit off the end of the grip retaining bolt. Before you take MY word for it... I'd get reafirmation from someone with a little more first hand knowledge. Waylon

Neat-o but i wonder if it wouldnt just be easier to contract someone with a CNC to run a few " nameplates " engraved with the Saiga12, Izhmash logo, ZK logo or whatever else you personally wanted and rivet em on to cover after a black powdercoat? enough guys askin about covering that unsightly mess that I think there would be at least a small market for em no? .... would be a great way to personalise your weapon and shouldnt be really all that hard to put on eithor. Just thinking outloud LOL, sorry, but I always did like me a Spikes Tactical AR with one of their pictogram styles on it
  17. Tlatoni, Thats exactly what mine looks like atm, bought it NIB and installed the tapco stock/grip and Surefire 10rd mags. Left it that way for 2.5 years before I got around to decideing to do an actual conversion. Oh I wish I had known what I was getting into when I started the conversion, this will EASILY become the most expensive gun I own when I'm finished and I own a few other REALLY nice items. Base gun Ace 8.5 skel stock Ace push button folding unit Css internal reciever block Tromix FCG Krebs enhanced safty Axis pin retaining plate Krebs enhanced BHO Ambi extended
  18. While I love the idea and in truth will likely own one sooner rather than later, my question is... how big is that thing? Looks like it would extend past the gasblock enough to cause issues with some tri and quad rail systems no? Could anyone give a quick measure from end of gas tube to end of plug for those of us concerned about fitting the rail spaces allowed? Thanks in advance, Waylon
  19. Thanks for the pics James! After closer inspection of mine this is likely the route I'll go as well. The metal plate I would cut off the existing guard to recycle the catch is thin enough that I think it will fit under the guard without causeing alignment issues. looks good to me =o) FL Thunder Stick, I too was thinking of getting a professional job done as well, however the CSS Vids convienced me that I could do the job myself and spend a fraction of what a professional conversion would cost to buy the tools needed to do it with that I didn't already own. Not much to a basic
  20. Hey and Thanks Cobra, aye, thats exactly what I did, read and learn as much as I can both about the weapon system itself and the folks who make frequent posts here. Its always good to know the heavy hitters so to speak, and pay special attention to what they say when they decide to say something. I've read so many posts from everyone I feel like I already know everyone though, no one knows me =o) Bridis, did you use blue or red sir? and how did you fix the safty stop issue? recycled saiga triggerguard style from back in the day or something more creative? I found a milled one from AK
  21. Thanks for the info Brix, good to know it won't be too much of an issue to make it work. I wonder if a healthy dose of locktight wouldnt solve the comeing loose issue? I may just return it for the CSS bolt on with safty stop already built in, it has the same machined look which is what I was after but will loose with a Redneck Rigged Fix. Haveing some parts custom made by Jay at Fuglystick and Michael at Alumilight. They I think are still 2ish weeks out so I have time for the exchange prior to being able to finish up anyway. As a side note... and I know MY word means nothing to
  22. Hello all, long time lurker here just getting around to converting his Saiga12 ( owned her for a few years now ) When I went to buy my conversion parts I had to split between CSS and MAA due to out of stocks, I settled on THIS trigger guard as I liked the look and styleing of it over the standard AK flat bent strip of sheetmetal look. My concern is that this is not going to be a true bolt on as I'd hoped and instead require precision drilling in order to get its placement right? I also notice what appears to be a lack of safty stop shelf. The Safty stop I " THINK " I can work around
