  1. I still say the easiest way to fix this issue and preserve the finish and thus potential resale value of the firearm is a 3.00 can of Black plastidip you can get at any Lowe's Home Depot Ace or most automotive parts stores... dip the last inch or two of the safty lever in... let dry, reinstall.... win?
  2. I own .....9 Aks now. Arsonals, Saigas, WASRs, Norincos, stamped, milled, you name it, I've got one.... of them all... I shoot the WASR the most, BUT... its a hand selected wasr 10/63. they can be as good as any other AK in the game, they can be bad... really bad, but the Wasr bad rep was mostly gained thru the use of out of spec parts which to my understanding is standard practice no longer. Unless your buying a used Wasr from a few years back, sight unseen.... I wouldnt worry about it. All the ones I've seen lately have been good solid rifles with very few of the old problems wasrs were k
  3. Go with the Ace internal block with pignose adapter and get a magpul MOE stock, you won't be breaking any new ground, but it will be a solid choice that will easily adjust to fit anyone between 7.6 and 4.2 .......just a good solid choice and one reason why if you eye the pic thread, you see so many of em
  4. I have one on my RPK, but she's so damn heavy I can't tell much difference in the recoil with or without... I can move it to the smaller rifle that has the FSC on it now and do a side by side if your interested. Might take me a little while to get to the range and get it done though, christmas is not a good time of the year to be sneaking off in the woods with guns..... unless I'm draging the inlaws behind me............
  5. biggest problem I think you'll have to overcome is the ejection port cutout... pretty sizeable difference in a spent 12ga and a spent 7.62
  6. knew Tx-Zen would be along soon =o) the man has forgotten more about AK Optics than most of us will ever know. I dig both those man, I just have issues with Tritnum eventually burning itself out.... well....in 20 years or so.... still....I have scopes now that I've had for 20+ years....still good glass. If I knew I could get em replaced every 10 years or so, even at half scope cost, I'd be happier with em....just hate to be 17 years into 20 year scope when the SHTF LOL......yea i know.... i'm a fruitcake, meh
  7. PK-AS..... use it, love it...I'd run mine against anything else out there....no questions asked, its superior IMHO to anything i've ever looked thru Kalinka, mount and optic 349.00 <---- big fan It's more rugged than an Acog, Cowitness not an issue....if the batteries go dead its still useable as it has an etched glass recticle.. and removes in seconds with no loss of zero if you need to use actual irons..quality is far better than that of most anything else you'll run across in the under 1000.00 area I'm so sold on em I wish I could buy everyone one.... I have 5
  8. This is my hobby, the money i spend on it is the same money i would spend on any other hobby....ham radios, building model trains, 4 wheeling, all hobbies have a cost. I shoot. i shoot with my family and i shoot with my friends... its what we do to relax and enjoy our little slice of America You make it sound as though we are all liveing off a diet of ramen and beans to save money to stockpile hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammo.... not the case at all. In most of our family budgets, there is money set aside for entertainment, going to the movies, eating out, buying shocks for the quad
  9. That Troy handguard on your AR is the same one I have on mine... Love that Fin thing man...good looking piece of kit ya got there
  10. never really thought of the s-12 as a heavy gun anyway loaded with the factory 5rd....i mean... its what...6lbs...7 maby have you looked into an ultralightweight youth model 22 or something? i dunno man.... try these guys ......websearch " who pulled my mancard " they might have some lightweight stuff.......
  11. to be 100% honest.. in my or my son's lifetime, I HONESTLY feel the odds are closer to 80%.... The preperations I'm makeing today will last thru HIS lifetime if unneeded and likely beyond. The ammo isn't gonna go shoot itself up, the guns won't go bad, and the other supplies are ... short of foodstuffs... all gonna last a hundred years if not in daily service. With the devaluation of the US dollar, the fact that we are the single most HATED nation in the world who STILL hasent learned to keep our noses out of other peoples buisness... the fact that the country is BROKE our allys are broke
  12. Vepr's for the most part are different beasts.... I want one in 7.62x54 with the 24 inch barrel and someone to make a damn SVD stock that fits it.... would replace my PSL with it in a heartbeat, don't get me wrong, i love my psl....i do.... but this would be as close to an SVD as i think i'd ever be willing to get. If i had a SVD it'd be a safe queen... I want one i'm not scared to shoot ya know?.. PSL does that pretty well now but lets be honest, the PSL has alot of room for improvement..... have toyed with just getting a second AES-10B and pulling the bi-pod off it... ordering a darkhors
  13. thats not a rivet is it? looks like an axis pin ( thx evl LOL ) ....if so that means your shepards crook or retaining plate likely fell in FRONT of the groove instead of behind it.... pull the plate or crook back out, seat the pin all the way, and reinstall the plate or crook..... pretty easy fix edited because i spell for shit.... /sigh as a side note, if yours is bone stock you'll have a wire crook not a retaining plate... order you a 5.00 plate from CSS...watch the conversion vids to figure out how it goes in.... then pop the lil feller in der
  14. I got me a special set of needle nose pliers just for this step, offset handle, jaws on em are prolly 6 inches long and VERY thin.... love those damn pliers.....
  15. I'd look around myself before commiting to it. My local shop has 3 on the wall, with scope, 4 mags each, cleaning kits, mag pouches etc etc... that whole little package they used to come in with, and they are running 750.00 each on em still deals to be had, they are just getting harder to find. Also check WTS/WTB sections of various gun forums, was a few sold in the last few weeks I was eyeballing myself pretty hard... already had the Rhineland stocks on em, or the poly SVD sets, upgraded scopes... etc etc most sell between 750 and 1k which IMHO would still be better than the 800.00 one f
  16. Dallas Texas baby... with 108 degree summers, HVAC is a frikkin GOLD MINE! as far as 5th grade teacher goes.... do you have any idea how many small towns there are in Texas?... all have their own schools... they have to to support this much High School Football. Getting a teaching job at any of the area school districts should be.... near cake. and I'll promise ya, you can live better on HALF as much money as you currently live on in SoCal, my best friend moved here from SoCal 5 years ago.... he STILL laughs about how cheep it is to live here compared to there. Sold his 3 bedroom 1 ba
  17. If #1 were a 19 inch i'd say it would just about fit the bill but that damn 24inch barrel gonna play hell with cover fire drills in a 3 gun match. I would be alot less inclined to put a folder on it for a dedicated 3gun build as well as the odds of ever useing it in a match folded will be slim and none.... Looks like a good excuse to work on gun #3 to me
  18. best i can suggest to ya is....check some of the custom wood makers, i know your wanting something a bit more tacticle but no one i've ever seen makes a sporter stock for the saiga that didnt come with the saiga... except a few i've seen in wood.... now, if you were to take a wood stock, and coat it with rubberised bedliner... it would start to look pretty tacticle... you are likely the only person in the world looking for a sporter stock that isnt a saiga factory stock....
  19. ......how the hell do you people stand to live there? christ on a cross leave the state to the hippies who want to save the world from toys in happy meals and get the hell out to someplace sane....weirdest bunch of freaks i've ever seen....states fuckin BROKE and blowing bankroll passin stupid gun laws and restricting frikkin happy meal toys....really? REALLY?.... jesus I have no hope for humanity
  20. I've seen folks cut a cross bar for the existing mag release and rivet it on... or weld it on... or screw it on.... almost universally looks like hammered ass... if I was going to fiddle with the mag release http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-600/RAMS-SAIGA-AK47-TACTICAL/Detail GREAT kit... I have one on all 7 of my AKs, its one of my standard mods, along with a Krebs safty and a Tromix chargeing handle. Note however, the install can be tricky unless you have 3 hands. and Foxtail, I have one of those EMA ones... they are plastic, torque when you try and
  21. Zombie... any mindless mass of human flesh capable of movement on its own, typically driven by some base need for XXXX which it persues relentlessly unto death. The specific Zombie that comes to mind when we have these discussions, at least comes to MY mind, as follows... Imagine if you will, Someone ... Al Quida for example... finally getting their hands on backpack nukes... bio weapons, dirty bombs.... whatever... Dressing Hakmed the suicide bomber in a sombraro....droping him off in Mexico where he buys passage to US thru the mexican tunnel systems... pops out and hooks up with
  22. go to Lowe's plumbing section, buy you 1 foot of surgical rubber tubeing, take it home and wrap it around the Ace tube stretching it out as you wrap so that your thining and flatening the tubeing out .... you'll end up with a non slip thickness increaser / scratch protector that will stay put once you stick the cheek piece on. hope that was understandable... its supriseingly harder to explaine than do...
  23. I'd have to get me a short barreled S-12, slap in a MD20.... get one of those ungodly D shaped handles that allow the gun to be hip fired on the move easier by holding it from the top.... a good sling.... ummmm.... yea... that'll about do it
  24. Looks like I spilt some fatguy on myself. I want you to know.....I laughed so hard I had to wipe the tea off my moniter.... LOL well, it looks like your headed in the right direction... step 1, buy gun step 2, make sure gun runs before you start fuckin with it step 3, keep us posted! Grats BTW on the new addiction....ugh.... i'm starting to gather parts for my 3rd /whine
  25. I prefer the AFG myself but its too long to fit on alot of quads without an inch or two of overhang, so.... on those i use the AFG2... i have a few of each, they each work well on what they are on...
