  1. Cool, I'm glad you had good results! My advice, if you are uncomfortable working on the FCG, is to send your FCG to Cobra for a trigger job. I had him do one for me years ago and I am very happy with his work. He reprofiled and polished the hammer, smoothed out the trigger components giving a very smooth trigger pull with a smooth break and reset, and added an over travel limiter. For people kinda new to the platform that are not comfortable messing with the internal parts, this is a very good option. Besides the performance improvements in cycling, Cobras trigger work makes shooting the gun
  2. I think that the article was done as a personal favor to the person who sent him the link in an attempt to embarrass Evl. There are plenty other worse examples of gun handling on youtube, Evl was not picked randomly. I think all parties involved should leave disputes from the past in the past and move on, I believe Evl has done that and others should as well. I subscribe to Evl's channel and enjoy his videos very much, there is always room for more innovators and quality gunsmiths. If people in the industry want to feud then let the products of their work, and the consumer, declare the winner.
  3. This may help. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/91762-guide-rod-assembly-and-strikers-for-sale/ Every couple months they show up for sale here in the WTS section.
  4. Have you checked to see if the ports are clear, having the correct amount of ports does not always mean that that your getting enough gas. Maybe they are blocked or clogged. Sometimes FTF are caused by the extractor slot, that is what gave me problems once upon a moon. My advice is read up, get that weak spring out of there, and make sure you are getting enough gas.
  5. What mags were used? So you were having FTF and FTE?
  6. I found this pic for you, maybe it will help.
  7. I say the DPH plug is good to go and you should ask your question about the CSS puck in their section for an answer strait from the source. Go here http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/forum/90-carolina-shooters-supply/
  8. My advice is that after the conversion you spend some free time taking the gun apart and studying it. Once you have a clear understanding of what is going on in there and how the parts interact with each other removing a little bit of material from the hammer will not be such a big deal.
  9. In your scenario, is the 'someone else's life' the guy denying my freedom? If so than I vote that my freedom is worth more than his life.
  10. What I said was that you may want to see if the profile of your hammer is sitting high and robbing energy from the cycle. I recommend that you spend some time reading this section of the forum, read the stickies first and check out this recent thread for more detailed info about the hammer profile. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/93431-worse-ftes-after-conversion/
  11. So you are having better luck with a twister puck than you had with the OEM puck? That is counterintuitive to me, but ok. I was going to suggest you get the twister puck out of there and forget about the weak spring idea. Another piece of advice I planned to give you was to only use the factory mag for all future testing while you get the bugs out of it to eliminate that variable. It it were me I would throw away the twister puck and get something else like a CSS puck, forget about the spring, check the profile of the hammer and adjust as needed, take the spring out and slide the carrier to s
  12. Yeah it sounds to me like the steel mags are the way to go. I have several and I am rough on them, never had an issue.
  13. The question at the end of your post can be answered by the sentence in the beginning of your post.

That was an awesome vid, and a big part of why I bought an S-12

  15. You would not be starting over. If you are that concerned with having to possibly reprofile your US rifle hammer to match the Russian shotgun hammer, you could just leave the Russian hammer in and still gain two US parts in your FCG. Bottom line we, and this forum, are here to help you and these after-conversion issues are only experienced by first time converters who have not read this forum, and are easily fixed.
  16. it came out of a return spring on a 36" air operated valve. Cool, you should have posted it here. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/92031-guessing-game/page-38
  17. Sounds like you are getting sufficient gas through the ports, may be some odd issue with the gun. Is it converted? Have you tried more powerful loads? I would take the whole thing apart and take some time inspecting it for anything that seems out of the ordinary, like a factory mistake.
  18. I believe that continued FTE or FTF is a direct result of FTR(failure to read.) Here is an excerpt from one of the reading suggestions you received in this thread, it somewhat answers your most recent question.
  19. While you have it apart swapping out the crook, go ahead and compare your new hammer with the Russian hammer. I believe that you will see a major difference, this is a very common cause for after conversion problems with cycling on a gun that functioned well prior to the conversion.
  20. I would say that without a doubt he was on meds.
  21. He was going to use a gun until he saw a gun free sign.
