Years ago when my mother was dying of lung cancer in the hospital, I was with her (drove all day and night from Quantico to Lubbock Texas) and she started choking. i believe i was 28, Infantryman and Drill Instructor, but damn if I could force that suction tube down my mothers throat with her body flailing about. I tried, but just couldn't do it. IDK...I think its different when they are your parents. Anyway, her nurse was probably the nicest Nurse I have ever met....I just jumped out of the room, yelled down the hallway at her and she came running. She did what I could not do. God Bless

My Daughters 3rd grade class put on a school show titled 'Celebrate our Veterans' and I will tell you, I couldn't keep my eyes dry the entire time. The pride that they put into it was just overwhelming. To see my Daughter stand up there and recite the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance, well, all the doubts I ever had about serving my country completely vanished. Not to mention watching my 4 year old stand at attention with her hand on her heart just made me swell with pride. The next day, the kids were allowed to wear their Veterans 'uniform' to school. Again, they are public office holders, paid for by the Tax Payer. They took the oath....if they can't fulfill their obligation, the should be fired. That is the problem with the 'GS' situation. Short of all out treason, murdering people at work, or death, they CANNOT be fired. It is probably one of the largest injustice's to the American Tax Payer. I was a contractor after I retired for the gov't. for 13 years after I retired. The shit I witnessed, the abuse of position, waste of taxpayer dollars, gross incompetence (I knew GS12's that could barely speak English) physically made me ill.
