Confirmed... Optic Rail Not Useless after all! <edit>
inzami replied to Cobra 76 two's topic in Vepr-12
I placed UTG red dot on forward part of the rail above ejection port and instantly had FTEs. As soon as I moved it to the back, no issues whatsoever. -

KVar 5.56 900rd $500 + $36 s/h - Australian Military Surplus -
I'm shooting WalMart Federal 1200 FPS out of the box. Only had FTEs when I placed red dot above the ejection port, once I moved it back no FTEs. This has been covered extensively with S12 so sounds like you need to tune it to the ammo per http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/80572-fte-with-bulk-low-brass-fixed/?p=805775 Also have you tried different ammo brand? From low brass I only shot Federal.

From the copy SGN I have it looks like there's no push button so the folding mechanism may be missing.

Looks like Tavor, Molot Vepr 12 with welded folding stock and Molot RPK .223 with welded folding stock are about to come out.

Emailed, thanks for quick response.

No, width is 32 mm if this helps.

Its left folding Vepr model, trying to fit into Vepr 12 receiver. It feels like needs to have <~1mm taken off.

Mine doesn't fit, what shall I use to make it work?

inzami replied to Aeromat209's topic in Vepr-12
Molot-USA has a lot of new products which have never been stateside so there must have been a new shipment that just cleared so other dealers should be getting new items in as well. Vepr 30.06 and KO 91/30 -
Gun parts, are patents worth it?
inzami replied to rs51085's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
Try LegalZoom, you can get Provisional Patent Application i.e. 'patent pending' and have a year to develop the idea before having to file for a full patent. -

Why did Saiga production slow down?
inzami replied to akastormi's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
Russian military manufacturing model is still Soviet style, Izhmash (Saiga manufacturer) has to employ a lot of people but without large scale contracts, there's no money so the workers often go unpaid for many weeks/months. Also the management often embezzles the money anyway as their goals are usually just to enrich themselves as fast as possible. There are some signs of re-structuring but it will take some time plus Russian military still hasn't agreed to AK-12 acquisition but its likely to be a political rather than technical decision. Molot (Vepr manufacturer) seems to have better managem -
The next batch which should be released soon is already marked up $200, several places have them at $1199 out-of-stock.

I placed Sparc on it but haven't shot with it placed in the forward section although I doubt micro red-dot would cause FTEs. Will try it out.

This is a major miss on the manufacturer's QC, importer and retailers parts. For a 1K product, this defect must have been disclosed up front. It cannot be that nobody has noticed it prior to shipping to the customers. Shotguns with defects should have been discounted or some other form of compensation such as mags, accessories should have been offered. I bought mine from Atlantic and they did include a free mag from SGM which should be coming soon. Proposed resolution: Given that canted rail is too expensive to repair and replacement may not be feasible, the importer should offer a re

There's an interesting thread going on at another forum (http://www.theakforum.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=185991) about the changes in import restrictions and new products coming in. If this works, there will be a flood of previously unavailable items, this will defintely change US market dynamics. For example the possibility of Vepr 12's coming in with spot welded folding stocks as a way around current regulations.

I second that. Gun imports are at a mercy of the government regardless which party. The importation can be stopped any day.
