No, not being a tard, point is that reconverting it back to "sportster" mode is pointless. According to the NYS troopers page is that regardless of configuration whether its a sportster or full blown fire breathing, straight from Russia, AK-47, (semi auto only) its the same. The powers that be feel that because it has a detachable magazine and an AK-47 platform it is EVIL, and therefore must be registered. Because if we register these firearms it will prevent bad things from ever happening to good people ever again, and everyone will live happily ever after.

Unfortunately, as it reads on the NYS State Police webpage, configuration is not the issue, need for registration is based on manufacturer/importer and that it is a semi automatic styled after an AK-47 action, not necessarily regarding any "evil black gun" features.

I really like how they were able to use their phone camera to record this as opposed to doing something useful like maybe calling the police with it. Way to go NYC!, should have cut you off from the rest of the state and kicked you into the Atlantic (ala Buggs Bunny) years ago. Golly no!, I'm not too terribly bitter about all the grandstanding this week.

Hi, about six months ago I had been considering this type of approach also. I purchased two PSL stock sets, ( one as a back up in case modifications needed to be made, or accidents occurred). As I recall the front lower handguard is much longer than the AK and the set up would require significant modification, I seem to remember the gas tube was longer too meaning the front upper handguard was going to require some modding as well. Not an impossibility, just not a "plug 'n play" matter of swapping out parts.
