  1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but a .223 rifle can shoot 5.56 but not the other way around... and the Saiga .223 is specifically design for this.
  2. My reasoning is different because I'm buying first for self-defense, then hunting should that become necessary, then ammo diversity. This stated, I'm adjusting my order of purchase as a result of the current political atmosphere. Other calibers will change the order of purchase but since Saiga doesn't make them I didn't add them to the list. Saiga list in order of purchase... most logical for my criteria: 1. 12ga 2. 20ga 3. .308 4. .22LR (maybe Saiga Korshun but probably Ruger 10/22) 5. 7.62x39 6. .223 7. 30-06 (Model 100) 8. 5.45x39
  3. I voted for 16 then 12... but the upcoming (hopefully) and reliable (hopefully) and available to the public (hopefully) and affordable (hopefully)... quad stacks are even more intriguing. That stated, if Mike has these available first then I'm definitely buying some.
  4. Sounds simple enough if I'm understanding you correctly. But isn't it necessary to make the "L" tab more permanent on the follower, i.e. JB Weld and small recessed flat-head screws? Have you tried this mag mod and does it really work every time? Any chance for some pics?
  5. I realize you said "one firearm" but with $950 you can easily buy 2 or 3 reliable SD guns. If I was in your situation I'd get a Mossberg 500 pump with light and laser plus at least one 9mm or .45 ACP pistol... probably 9mm for the wife. I'd get pistols with Weaver or Picatinny rails so I could mount small light/laser combos... because in a SD situation you want to make damn sure you can see who you're shooting and know where the bullet is going. In the shotgun I'd load the first couple of rounds with #4 buckshot (minimum size buck for SD has less chance of overpenetration) then fill the t
  6. ITS NOT SMART ASS TO POINT OUT A DUMB ASS. Okay... then you're a dumb-ass, a smart-ass, and an asshole.
  7. I appreciate the advice so far, folks. Please keep it coming. I need all the guidance I can get.
  8. Are these gone? If they're available I'm interested in a trade for one NIB MD-20.
  9. DARN!! I want the .223 but I won't have the cash for about 6 weeks... too many recent purchases.
  10. I'm interested in all 6 but I won't have the cash for 4-6 weeks... too many recent purchases. I'll watch this thread.
  11. I was going to purchase a Saiga .223 or 7.62 next but I guess I'll opt for the 20ga instead and put the 2 rifles on hold for a few weeks.
  12. Mid Jan I noticed them selling out everywhere except for the way overpriced ones... so I bought one off GB for $509 shipped. I'm sure the high sales volume of late is due to certain politicians pulling their "B" word shennanigans again. EDIT: Just checked... the same GB seller I bought mine from is now getting nearly $700 each. I saw this coming with the news of a possible ban plus saw them all selling so quickly. So I bit the bullet and spent money I couldn't really afford right now but I was worried prices would only continue to rise. Maybe this will all blow over and prices will dr
  13. EDIT: To anyone I offended by posting this query in other forums. I intended no harm. I wasn't receiving any replies in this thread so I posted my query elsewhere. However, I did request folks reply via this thread and provided a link. Since this is a multifaceted question (several calibers) I posted in several forums. I'm sorry if I erred but please refrain from name-calling. Please forgive my newb ignorance. I've been mostly lurking on this site for awhile now and am just now acquiring my Saiga firearms... one each S-12 and .308 are on the way to my FFL. BTW, I live in Texas. I'm buying
  14. Damn... ordered and paid for a S-308 just a few days ago and didn't know about this discount.
  15. But many of them will appreciate a double-stack.
  16. In reference to shells "rattling" in drums: This doesn't bother me as long as they function properly. I'd rather the shells rattle than be pinched together which may eventually deform the hulls and cause feed problems. Stored either on their face or back shells can be loaded for a very long time without fear of deformation and I think that's a good thing. Yeah, in a SD situation if one makes a sudden move or bumps something the rattles could give away position... it's a trade-off.

  18. I have two of the MD Arms 20rd drums and a third on order. I want some compact "mid" capacity mags/drums but I'm sort of impatient. Maybe I'll buy some of the Promag 12rd drums and, if they're lousy, I'll throw them away once MD's double stacks become available. Better yet, I'll blow them to itty-bitty pieces with some cheap birdshot. Or... I could just test their ability to withstand being run over. PROMAG: MIKE, when's the big day?!?! EDIT: I searched and didn't see any reference to this but... any chance these will be serial numbered so "IF" a new ban is enacted we'll have proo
  19. I guess I should have searched other forums after I didn't find it here. If I had the ability to shut this thread down I would.
  20. What "countless other forums" and what did I ever do to you? And I'm not affiliated with any manufacturers of any kind. If you can't be civil then please stay out of this thread. MODS: If this thread continues to degrade with this type of silliness then please just shut it down.
  21. I realize I've only been a member for six months and I don't post very often. I did search... but searches aren't always fruitful. Sorry if I offended.
  22. Sorry... double post. Mods, please delete if possible.
  23. http://carolynmccarthy.house.gov/uploads/mccarthy-magazine_bill.pdf Think it'll pass?
