  1. It looks really interesting but I was disappointed to see a loaded chamber indicator, internal safety (either key or mag disconnect) and a manual safety. It just seems like a lot to cram into a little pistol. However, it does have a LRBHO which I think is pretty good.
  2. OK, that thing is awesome. My 870 may have to go to get one of these!
  3. So I thought I had won with my number of 2500 for the 2598 number but SharkBit had 2600! Congrats and thanks for the opportunity Mike!
  4. Welcome and congratulations on your new S12. It truly is an addiction. A few months ago I added up all the money I've spent on my single S12 and it was shocking. Yet it still brings a smile to my face. Make sure to shoot it first and know that it will cycle heavy loads as well as lighter loads like the Federal Bulk Pack. If warranty work is needed it is best to do that before converting. A great Christmas this will help make!
  5. This is awesome. <3 hours since the start and already 85+ responses! My three numbers: 2500 4990 7500 Thanks Mike!
  6. What brand ammo was this that didn't work? Most people have success with Federal Buik Pack or Remington Bulk Pack.
  7. That is an amazing pun. Are they to keep the bear market at bay or to prevent Ben Bernanke from quantitatively easing your home?
  8. Interesting. Do you know the story behind RAAC and the importation of the Saiga rifles (with some of the newer ones coming from Mercury-Hermes)? Thanks for the link.
  9. Don't they say somewhere on their website about the bottom being attached at the molecular level? They must mean glue. Which is technically bonding on the molecular level but I was expecting it to be more like a plastic weld than glue. Thanks for the pics.
  10. Another option I didn't see mentioned is the SIG 556 pistol. It is 5.56 but operates using a piston so you don't have the buffer tube. I know you mentioned that it could be a benefit to have one but figured I would throw this out there as well. I don't own one, haven't held one or shot one but still thought I would throw it out there. For concealability this would be on par with the Draco.
  11. This is great to hear!! I too, would love to see pics!
  12. Did you call the smith? I'd be curious to see what he says. It really sucks to have that happen. Hopefully it is something simple and easy to fix. PM incoming with a few other questions.
  13. EAA still has a digital copy for download: http://www.eaacorp.com/Manuals/Saiga.pdf Kit if it has all the parts you want, separately if there are a bunch of things that are not in the kit. Usually the price differences are not that great (kits being a little less).
  14. I've never been over to arfcom but SIGForum is the same way about email addresses. I had to use my school address and then have it forwarded to gmail. Sucks about your account. I try to pick my forums carefully because of situations like this.
  15. What's really sad is that people scramble not just for big screen TVs (which I guess on some level I understand) but also rediculous things like waffle makers and coffee pots (at least that is what it looked like in this video): I say Merry Christmas because I'm still allowed.
  16. Rock on. I bought one on Saturday. It is my wife's Christmas/Birthday present for me. But you could give these people an email: http://www.jadnil.com/ I found them doing a Google search because I am thinking of going with some wood furniture when I do my conversion. (I know you can't convert but they may be able to fashion you a standard rifle stock)
  17. Hey Orange. Can you do thumbholes out there? You might be able to find a wood thumbhole from a SVD that would work. But I haven't run across non-conversion wood buttstocks. Good luck!
  18. I bet you could use a plastic coffee stirrer with a fine tip to feel for the step. If you know what they look like you could count the number of steps.
  19. Fret not, I already have an email in to the shop I am visiting on Friday. Seeing the Legion stamp would be the easiest thing.
  20. I believe that Greg said that he unboxed one specimen and it did have dimples. He had an announcement in his WTS section.
  21. You know PA, I really thought about going that route. I was close to going fully into the SGL camp but I thought it would be awesome to have a standard sporterized Saiga done over by Jim Fuller to match my S12. I figured I could spend a little more than an SGL and have the AK done to the exact specs that I want.

    chokes

PolyChoke. I have one and it works pretty well. Classy Kalashnikov has one for sale in the WTS area.
  23. Oh, the pistol grip nut hole. I forgot about that one. Thanks for the responses. I think I'd really like to get one without a stepped chamber and it looks like there is a non-negligible chance that more of them are available like that. I'm hoping since I'll be in a shop they'll let me take a look at at least one before making me commit to buying one.
  24. Recently I've been craving a Saiga 7.62 to compliment my S12 and think I have a good grasp on things but wanted to ask the experts. I have a chance to visit a local shop later in the week to look at some Saigas and was wondering if I have all of the desirable traits understood in terms of importance. Like a good little grad student, I've tried to research as much as I can using Google-fu on this site before writing the following in hopes of not being "that guy." 1) Chamber step. From my research it appears that some Saiga rifles are imported with stepped chambers. This has to do
  25. I got a "This video has been removed by the user." error.
