  1. A good brake with significant porting will make a difference, smaller ones don't do much. I put the mako stock on mine and it made a noticable difference. I don't think the blackjack buffer makes that noticeable of a difference in felt recoil. I big thing often overlooked is her/your form, many shooters especially less experienced ones try to hold the stock away from their shoulder to try to mitigate recoil when in actuality they make it worse; make sure she's sholding the stock tight to her and is leaning into rather than away from the rifle.

I think your modification although imaginative is very likely to lead to problems in reliability. I would love it it you tried and it worked for you, but I would spend my efforts practicing reloads. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2QZSvcDczQ
  3. The russian mags are supposed to be the most reliable, plus original parts have more value unless aftermarket options are better. SGM eight round mags are a good alternative, I like the APG mags just fine until I become a rich man my most expensive mag is my MD drum. Funny thing is my russian 5 round that cam with the gun has more failures attributed to it than my APG 10 rounders. Rounds hang up in the upper mag body of my factory 5 and SGM 10 nothing that I couldn't sand to make perfect, its definately the rear metal reinforcement of the factory five, its a little rough and the back of the sh
  4. If you can't figure it out you're stupid
  5. Since what you'll be shooting otherwise will be more like the 124gr I would choose that. velocity tends to go to the lighter rounds while penetraton to the heavier, for soft skinned or thin coated targets lighter wins in terms of basic effectiveness with this caliber.
  6. It's all about what you want as your end result. I suggest shopping through carolina shooter's supply and mississippi auto arms primarily. Stay away from promag, aliance armament, and other super cheap stuff I think products by Tromix, MD arms, and Chaos are always good choices. I run a hogue grip a chaos quad rail with HK style sights, and use APG 10 rounds magazines and MD arms 20RND drums. I had an undergassed gun and used the KA puck in the past and now use a MD booster puck and MD Gas Plug. I have a tromix charging handle extension and modified trigger group, I had an
  7. I also suggest no pro mags, and prefer the same mags as topmaul.
  8. Of those two, definately the wood. Honestly, poly stocks will be less likely to be babied by you, but thats because they don't look as good. Poly is lighter. Wood is prettiermore traditional looking.
  9. Decide what you'd do for modifications to the saiga to get it how you want, price out the rifle parts and shipping and then compare to the aresenal of your choice, notice the difference in the end rifle and then weigh the costs and time and decide which one is the most appealing.
  10. How would whoever inspecting identify a part as foreign if say all foreign markings where removed for instance from a wooden stock, and remarked with professional looking "made in USA"? I would think it'd be quite difficult to distinguish a refinnished stock as foreign especially when the firearm owner must be proven guilty. What if i went to a gun show, gun shop or through private sale inadvertantly bought a refinished wooden stock that was done up as described and seemed to be US made, could the blame still be on me?
  11. I agree with the other two, you rifle needs some better furniture. It can wait, and you got a hell of a deal, I'm in a similar situation with a SLR-95, i don't have the dough to get it un-neutered until I sell my browing hi-power. Iron wood is definitely the way to go if you want the furinture to count towards compliance. Please keep us posted with pics if you de-ban it
  12. Jpanzer I didn't mean to suggest that I think they make shitty gear, I actually said "not the best" and I meant that was the jist of the feedback KevinINNM gave you; I would take that kind of information as second hand but still helpful and not personal. These guys might actually be trying to help you out by steering you from what they've heard may be a bad investment. Sorry that I personally don't have experience with said device, but I happen to be looking for a similar item and was interested in what you'd come up with. I saw that you might have taken some advice from others the wro
  13. MI: Side and Bottom Rail, Doesn't get as hot, Has Models for specific optics like the aimpoints etc. Both are good, I have the MI and run and Aim Point and the dot shows with my irons, I had the older version and the aimpint was mounted higher, so bought the aimpoint micro specific mount and prefer it.
  14. Your saiga could use some good 10 round mags (not promag) or 8 round izzys. People often overbuy guns and underbuy ammo, so be sure to stock up before getting another mouth to feed, thats like getting pregnant when your one year old is starving. Everyone needs a pistol, but look into something you can actually conceal or you'll keep buying smaller and smaller until you can actually carry it (if you plan to) otherwise I would only question your choice based on my biases and preferences (XD isn't on the short or long list for me) but thats subjective. Take a long look at the walther PPQ th
  15. Convert it yourself, this forum will walk you through and save you money. I would send it out for something like a short barrel or other more complicated tasks. I do think that many of those converting guns will produce a final product that is a bit better than your average guy can do.

  17. Did you read what he said or just scan it and make up the tone? He gave you some helpful information: Condor is not know for being the best gear, that said someone who actually uses it in a demanding way was happy with it despite him using it for AR mags not AK. I think thats a pretty helpful and honest answer. I would only worry about the angle of the 74 mags being slightly steeper and less accepting to retention than the AR mags the rig was designed for. Here are some that should work as well: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE120-6.html http://www.opsgear.com/index/page/
  18. Sorry thought it was the ACE that I got from CSS, it's theirs and I highly recommend it unless you are wishy washy about having a tang
  19. Can I send my bill... I have a railed saiga12 and Mak-90 both utilize the rails for T: Sights/Optics, B: Vertical Fore Grip, L&R: nothing except rail covers. Both the sights and vertical grip help speed up the amount of shots I can put on target in a given time. I'm not going to iraq to fight the good fight, I'm likely going to the range and maybe defending against a home invasion, which is most likely to occur at night or at least low light. I can't imagine holding a flashlight in hand or on my head while I hold a rifle and attempt to secure my household. I like that I can tur
  20. I thought that mine went in without any significant modifications, I also thought the block had screws that occupied the holes in the receiver left over from the conversion. It's been a while so maybe I'm mistaken
  21. Paully, I haven't any experience with the AA, but thought it was supposed to be better than the S-12, can you explain how the Siaga puts the AA to shame? I'm not second guessing you, only looking for clarification.
