  1. Anyone that is judging a firearms viability in the hands of civilians and is using FMJ as the base of that comparison, is truly missing the one major advantage civilians have over the military. We can buy poly tipped, soft point, hollow point, bonded rounds ect. I will say that 7.62x39 is a simpler projectile to stop with vests and plates. I have mild steel targets that can withstand 7.62x39 at 100 yards, they get dents but no more, I think they are 5/8 or 3/4 thick.
  2. working on Vepr-54r tooling

  3. Third pin receivers have been a no go in the US since I think the late 70s early 80s, they went out at the same time as open bolt semis if I recall history correctly. IWI/IMI used to import their Galil rifles here as two pin firearms. They should have known better. It should not be a complicated alteration in the manufacturing process. Just copy the G code and delete the drill and ream command. Problem solved while shaving a couple bucks off the machine cost. As for the current receivers, there is no saving them.
  4. The FCG is shown at 12:40 and it clearly does not have a safety sear. There is just a retaining wire on the third pin, otherwise it does nothing.
  5. I went back and looked at the old videos from 14' and sure enough they had third pins.. What I find really odd is that the old Galil imports from the 80s do not have third pins. I'm not grasping how this 'slipped through' since comments about the third pin actions date back to when they showed them off over a year ago.
  6. Well I have seen the exhibits of new Chinese machine tools, and they seem to be working hard to brush off the reputation that they make crap. The last meeting of the industrial giants that make up China's industrial market directed all members to increase quality and reduce quantity to increase profits while reigning in the over production issues that have been plaguing the manufacturing sectors for the last five years. It has been in news a lot lately. So there is a chance that even if it is made in China that it could be nice.. However this thing kinda says 'made in Russia' in some aspec
  7. I highly doubt it has anything to do with a Fury, none of the parts got recycled. Hand guards, railed gas blocks with sling loops, rear sight blocks, railed top covers, ect.. The barrel is externally threaded. The magazine floorplate is similar to the keepshooting magazine with it wrapping the outside of the body. The pistol grip looks like a Molot or Yugo style.. There are just too many differences to be an updated Fury. Century arms still seems to be selling the FURY. This could be made by a new Russian company that bought the rights to the saiga-12. Or any one of a few eastern european
  8. I was happy to hear the news. We are probably going to snag one to confirm everything is the same. I may revamp the Saiga-12 magazines to reduce cost if these are going to be a regular import. One thing I am greatly interested in, is who is actually making them.
  9. All the 54r ammo was coming out of Ukraine, they stopped selling the ammo due to the conflict. They are in need of money and are sitting on a mountain of ammo. If the conflict winds down odds are the shortage go away for a while. I have enough that at my current usage I have a 50 year supply. I'm mostly stocking .223 right now. At present there are fantastic deals on 9x19 ammo and there have been good buys on .223 and 7.62x39. I'd suggest stocking up on them while the getting is good.
  10. My Great Grandfather used one to supply canvasbacks to restaurants around Detroit. His family had been doing commercial duck hunting for several generations in lake st clair. When they started back in the early 1800s the skies would darken from all the birds migrating. Apparently they would process over 100 ducks a day during the migrations. My understanding is that he was using a punt gun well into the 1930s so I'm not sure about the caption. According to family lore, lead shot became unavailable due to the depression, so he would screen 'gravel' for shot. I think it was actually iron sl
  11. There is NO feed ramp on a Saiga-12. If the hull hits the lower edge of the chamber it will be messed up. This is normal. From your first post in the other thread I see you are using Winchester Super X. If I recall they have a six sided crimp, I think you would be better off buying a couple boxes of different brands and see it is just a hull problem. In our testing normal Winchester hulls tended to be so soft that they got smashed by the bolt moving over them. Try some Federal, Remington, or Winchester AA, "high brass" is kind of a gimmick and does not indicate the actual power level of the
  12. I think the price tag is going to hold them back. $2700 for a shotgun, and it seems you have to pick if you're going to be shooting magnums or low powered. Kinda seems like a uninteresting firearm when you can get a pair of vepr-12s and all the goodies for the same money. It's a short recoil operated firearm, like a pistol. So it can't adjust from one power ammo to another without changing springs or bold mass.. With that in mind I'm not seeing the advantage over a MKA-1919. The MKA appears to be self adjusting, the only major fault of the MKA is the quality of the parts.
  13. My sales are up a lot.. I did more in the last week of November than I did all of my first year. My sales for Black Friday would have had the shelves bare in years past.. But we have been laying in stock figuring it had been calm for a little too long. I figure the reason it looks so much like a big panic is because it was so close to a big sales week... Many shops sold deep into their stock and then just as it was calming down the next wave hit. The order volume was not even 1/4 of sandyhook. Any shortages outside of rimfire ammo should clear up soon.
  14. More likely because using a rifle such as an AK or AR causes so much internal division among the population. If they had just used the pistols it would be more focused on the crime itself and pipe bombs, much of the goal of a terrorist is to cause division and unrest . Another thing, He owned the AR rifles prior to going to the Middle east. It is possible he owned them before he decided to become a mass murderer.
  15. But in California it is illegal to transfer firearms without using a FFL.. So what does have to do with anything this time.
  16. I never confront idiots.. If words worked they would not be stupid.
  17. Low inventory.. I don't want to sell out at a discount. I'll do a sale on them in the spring for tax time when we make the next run.
  18. Generally speaking with a shotgun anything more than 40 yards with a good choke is risky. Without a choke you are limited to more like 20 or 30 yards with the 30 being a little risky with the best shells. It is hard to estimate the range, normally you will see the edges of the body feathers appear inside of 30 yards. http://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/hunting/waterfowl-hunting-tip-how-judge-distance My uncle used to hunt geese with some regularity before steel shot, and used a 10 gauge with something like 2 1/2 ounce loads of #4, and said it was tough to take them down.. Many of the
  19. No code this year. We are doing them as separate item numbers, it will make it simpler to do the accounting aspect after the sale is over. Sale starts tomorrow at 9am eastern time and runs until Monday, or the last of the allotted items sell.. I have a larger available stock, I just did not want it all to sell the first day. http://stores.csspecs.com/black-friday-sale/
  20. The Russian aircraft barely crossed into turkish airspace if it did at all. Their (turkish) own radar showed that. They shot the aircraft down because it was bombing a Turkish rebel group that is operating in Syria, with the backing of the Turkish army apparently.
  21. It is the mayor and the selected chief of police.. Not the Sheriff. Way I see it is, they have roughly $500,000+ sitting there. A few phone calls and it would save taxpayers some cash. The other side of this, is that they don't want to return firearms that they are required to under state law.
  22. There used to be a website that made it easy to email or mail the correct people.. Anyone have it? I always hate emailing the wrong people. This currently has 22 cosponsors already and is very new. Isn't this the one that removes suppressors from the NFA and makes them regulated like normal firearms?
  23. The above is good advice.. Just to add again. Test fire it as it comes. That will save you a LOT of time if something is wrong out of the box. Once you have a baseline of function move on to your modifications. Rail systems can cause function issues if installed incorrectly, so test before installing and then again after, before doing your next set of modifications.. Ten or so rounds of bird shot only costs a few bucks, and it will save a ton of guessing if you test between major modifications. Changing the trigger group can improve function if done correctly, and the opposite if done poorly,
  24. My sister made some killer good lager. She used my a/c temp controlled storage room for brewing, I found the smell a little unpleasant, but the beer was worth it.. It does require stable temps. And careful attention to details. Find a homebrew forum they will have more information.
  25. He was a drug dealer and traded a handful of pills for truck loads of stolen guns and tools. No problem with him getting busted. Hopefully most of the stolen stuff makes it back to its rightful owners.
