  1. this is one mean-looking MFer. so how does this thing shoot? compared to Lee 1oz. slugs any advantage of one over the other.
  2. so how did your range trip go with the new "birdslugs"? how's the accuracy (relatively as slugs go). i haven't gotten into doing mine. got a little busy busy lately.
  3. this just about sums it all. "in this one...the force is strong."
  4. thanks for clearing that up. on to the melter it goes then. LOL
  5. The money savings are undeniable. And like you I'd like to nail down putting buckshot in these birdshells but casting buckshot from what I've seen is more laborious and slower than slugs. Although many here buy buckshot it's pricey and shipping lead will only get more expensive over time. I'm going to obtain a Lee 00 mold and try my hand at it. I don't know how available reloading supplies are in the PI but that's the learning curve I'm climbing now. With a LA2 you'll be able to do this too. i am hoping my supply of lead wont run dry for quite some time. a live near a fishing c
  6. this is an excellent topic. i've been wanting to do this "birdslug" experiment too for quite sometime now. birdshots are 2/3 less than the price of slugs and shotgun shells dont come cheap here in my country (about 57 cents as against 90 cents per shell). birdshot to "OO" buck conversion sounds good too. this thread has been very informative indeed. so much so, i ordered 1 oz. slug mold and a Lee load all 2 just to be able to recrimp my future birdslugs. cheers.
  7. been awhile since i last logged in to this forum due to busy sked. i just wanted to share my new high power rifle (my first). i dont think this is legal there in the US, but lucky for us, its all good here in the Philippines. This is a Norinco T97A short assault rifle, which we coined as T97C. 12.5 inch barrel 1:7 twist. uses standard stanag/nato mags and 5.56x45 SS109 (preferred) or M193 ammo. note the odd placement of the selector switch near the butt plate of the rifle. safe, semi-auto, full auto and TRI-BURST. yeah! couldn't find a sling for
  8. talk about trusting Rusmilitary, i gave them my credit card number and all, out came the automatically-generated electronic receipt. three days later, still no response from them as to status of my order so i contact them via email. they told me they do not accept credit card payments from the Philippines because most of the fraudulent credit card transactions come from the EAST. So i ask them how can i buy from them and they told me to transfer the amount via Western Union under Oleg's name. Talk about trust. Bottom line though, Oleg delivered, albeit after over 3 months of agonizing wai
  9. What kind of trigger guard is that? Who did the conversion and AK100 install? @Evlblkwpnz: you are looking at my bone-stock S12. I'm from the Philippines so i believe its "Stock Russian S12". the trigger guard is stock too. I just wrapped it in the same material (tennis racket grip tape) which i used to wrap the stock pistol grip with. found the stock grip to be too skinny and the trigger guard too sharp in the edges so i wrapped them all up with this felt-leather-like material - Third World style baby.
  10. you might consider this. or this: personally, i use stock sights on mine and slap on the red dot when using slugs past 50 yards.
  11. me thinks double stack S12 mag development is dead. been quite some time now. i would have a hard time getting my hands on one anyway so its just fine with me. I'll just enjoy my two Izzy 8's for now. I can wait for those double stacks if and when they ever materialize.
  12. so very true! the Saiga-12 just looks more robust and menacing with that factory 8-rounder attached. The S12 seems like its been designed to look best with the 8-rounder attached rather than the 5-rounder that comes with it from the factory. i also just got my two brand spanking new 8-rounders from Oleg and if it weren't for him, I'd still be stuck with my lone factory 5-rounder. had to wait 3 months for my pre-paid order but good things come to those who wait in my case. BTW, i noticed i can squeeze in 9 rounds into my Izzy 8-rounders but can only load them with the bolt held op
  13. mine also came with a picatinny rail mount. if you got the one without, you need to get a hold of one. it sits below the burris unit and connected via two screws as far as i can tell.
  14. thank God these trivial laws dont apply to where i live. we can put anything we like, long barrel, short barrel, as long as the serial numbers match and we're pretty much GTG. oh but i forgot, we dont have aftermarket parts here so we tend to stay pretty much stock.
  15. the 8-rounders from rusmil just went out of stock today. but i just received my pre-order from over three months back just yesterday and all i can say is, Christmas came early this year for me.
  16. i just think the saiga 12 just looks even more bad ass with a russian 8-rounder. just got two of these well-sought-after mags courtesy of RusMilitary and well have a look at my stock S12 before: and after (still pretty much stock but with some additional features:
  17. my seemingly ETERNAL quest for a saiga12 magazine is OVER. whoooohooooo!!!! Christmas came early for me this time. and its not Santa who came to my rescue but Oleg of Rusmilitary who made what seemed to me impossible when i started this thread, now possible. paid approximately $300 for these two mags (cost more than a months salary of over half of the housholds in my country) but what the heck. here they are, meet Olga and Anya, my new mistresses: i waited over three months for these to arrive. i was already emailing Oleg and Rusmil asking for these when i saw stocks on
  18. i arrived one time at our local range with a small crowd of police-trainees ogling around what looked like to me like a glock with a RONI kit complete with aimpoint micro on top. looks pretty but thought to myself what's the fuss about. the gun was being shot by a lawyer (i was told later on by the range master) who was with his GF and two of her lady friends. the three ladies were seated in the viewing stand and appeared busy texting and oblivious to the shooting going on. so i started my warm-up routine shooting my marlin papoose then my HS45. i was alone in my shooting bay all this ti
  19. i suggest you start browsing the pictures thread. lots of great-looking guns and color schemes there. just my opinion, digital camo would look great with OD green.
  20. To the thread starter: I was in your shoes almost a year ago. i started researching about mag-fed shotguns a few months before i even knew about the saiga12. then i chanced upon this forum and was just totally amazed about the wealth of info it contains. of course the first things i noticed were the problems about the this particular gun. unlike you however, it intrigued me more and as i read along and learned more and more about the saiga, 2 months later i bought my very own. it didn't come cheap in my country but i knew deep inside, i just got to have one. no regrets here. it still
  21. i paid $1,600 (equivalent money) for my stock S12 and i can't even find spare mags for it (locally). despite all these, if you ask me the question is the Saiga 12 worth it... short answer is HELL YEAH!
  22. what sight am i using? STOCK sights. works fine for me up to 80 yards using slugs. those Kreb's ghost rings, i can see myself using if only i can get my hands on it.
  23. the saiga 12 itself has very loose tolerances, therefore it would be very hard for magazine manufacturers to get a 100% fit on all units. i little filing here and there on brand new mags wont hurt. i'd buy those "poor-fitting" mags from you any day.
  24. +1 on this. assuming you have done exactly what the instruction says on the auto plug installation, then there may be problem with the plug itself. contact tac-47 first and hope you can sort it out.
  25. sounds like a very good advise for people (myself included) who does not have a drill press. might just give this a try on my 3-port gun.
