  1. I wouldn't. I've got one almost exactly like it (no extras - just rifle) for sale right now. You might want to let us know where the butt stock came from (Is it US-made or Russian?)
  2. The "milled polish" is actually an "American Mixmaster". Century produces them, and the content of Polish parts is less than that of it's American ones.
  3. We appreciate your camera work, and hope to see more. Nobody called you a liar, that I can see. You went there, the owner filled your ears full of crap, which you paraphrased to us. You didn't make it up - he did.
  4. Is your Saiga broken? Recoil buffers cause more problems than they solve.
  5. I have no doubts the guv buys Kalashnikovs (several thousand have been purchased over the years), but the following BS is so deep, you could grow your own Amazonian rain forests in the desert with it. I mean, c'mon, "he also said that if you saw one of these guns it would be the last AK you would ever see" is something you'd hear from a (self) decorated mall ninja. ETA: Are you sure they're not selling them to the Department of Education or something?
  6. I'm not sure what you've been reading, but the Saiga rear block is identical to any other AKM/AK74 rear block.
  7. The sound you just heard was a million mall-ninja hearts, all simultaneously set aflutter. . .

It looks to me as though the "argument" is done. nalioth posted a bunch of speculation and unrelated political commentary, (I do agree with him that it's sad "sporting" features need to be included for US importation), with nothing to back it up. I, (and others), addressed his "points", and since then he has not responded. I've noticed that when his position on an issue becomes untenable, he simply makes a "tactical withdrawal" and stops posting in the thread. That seems to be the case here, as it was in the most recent thread concerning 74-type muzzle brakes in the 7.62x39 sub-forum.
  9. It's corrosive and Berdan primed.
  10. This is quite common among folks who do their own "trigger jobs". It's not a slam fire, but a potentially dangerous¹ condition caused by changing the angles of the FCG. It's why it's recommended they just "shoot it to break it in" [1] Dangerous due to the "surprise" full auto or the 10 year minimum sentence . . .
  11. This is fallacious. Access to the innards is not any different with the AMD-65 stock than any other. Personally, I'd weld up the holes in the back end after removing the factory block. That way, you don't have to worry about holes that are "almost right" while drilling for your AMD-65 block, or welding your AMD-65 block to the receiver. You know what they say: "Measure twice, cut once." Taking your time and thinking it out will insure success.

It's not tinfoil. Look it up. Because they're manufacturers of "target pistols"? Why don't you name some American made semiauto pistols with "finger rests" built into the grip from the factory.
  13. I'd take a look in the .308 section. There are plenty of threads there that will detail what you want to know. I do know the conversion process incorporates going through an extra spotweld. I do not believe you can convert a 100 series Saiga.

Yes, I am. Our importation system is the only reason the Glock (and other foreign semiautomatic pistols) has them.

So y'all please tell me why the US version of the Saiga line has the BHO, but Saigas meant for non-US customers don't. Please have a look at these sites (you're looking at the non-USA versions of the Saiga), and show me the BHOs on them. http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh07-e.htm http://www.izhmash.ru/eng/product/weapon.shtml http://izhevsk.club.guns.ru/eng/saiga12.htm http://www.izhmash-arms.ru/eim/imp/25.html http://www.rusmilitary.com/html/firearms_saiga12.htm The BHO is a slapped-on-at-the-last-minute political kludge to get the Saiga line imported here.

It's all about "sporting firearms". The more "sporting features" you have on your foreign firearm, the more "importation points" it has. The higher the number, the better chance the gun has of being imported into the USA as a "sporting arm" (non-sporting firearms are not allowed to be imported). This is why Glocks have "thumb rests" molded into their grips, as "thumb rests" are features found on "sporting guns". "Sporting firearms" have bolt hold opens. Ergo, Izhmash came up with these shi**y BHOs to add "importation points" to the Saiga line.
  17. Yeah, the Draco is nothing more than a stockless AKM. Any accessory for a stamped AK'll fit (but mind the laws, some parts are illegal w/o permission)

Which increases the odds of it getting stuck in the receiver, giving you "permanent open bolt syndrome" w/o tearing down the weapon. The factory BHO is a politically motivated added-after-the-fact POS.
  19. Did you mean "execrable" or "acceptable"? IMHO, the first one fits.
  20. You are honestly going to compare a slopped-together parts gun made with substandard parts to a factory made Saiga? GTFO Same FCG your using in your Saiga--just modified in the converted Saigas. Same Tapco stuff a lot of people use. And doesn't require 3-600 dollars worth of work and addons. I still prefer my Saigas but not everyone can afford the investment in time and money to make them into what we like about them. If all ya got is 460 or so it's a decent gun. And out of the 1000's that have been sold (2000 from one distributor alone) most are happy with them. I'm referr
