  1. Lucky duck! Yeah, not much call for saltwater by me, so I've never messed with it. Ok, I'm heading into work and we're up to 5 sets spoken for. Edit: Make ^that 6! Btw- I recommend 4-8lb test on a light or medium-light action rod for these. (I use a 5' 5" Uglystick w/a Mitchell Advochet II and 6lb Vanish line.)
  2. I make small in-line spinners as a hobby and sell them to a local bait & tackle shop to avoid a ridiculous stockpile. Due to an underwhelming demand this past year, I am giving away 60 (no, that's not a typo- that's SIXTY) in-line spinners. The first 10 PM's get the following: One each of my Firetiger, Red & White, Synthetic Green, Black, and Juvenile Perch; pictured below. In addition to these, each set will include either a "Crappie Killer" mini in-line (pictured center below,) or one of my Premium spinners (either side.) There IS a catch though- (he he, puns are fun) I wa
  3. Looks like a delrin-tipped set screw. Normally used for maintaining pressure on folding stock adaptors. Maybe check to see if there are empty holes in that area? ETA: Phone tried to die on me before I could add this: I don't know what kind of stock/adaptor you're using, but this is the rear of my push-button folder. I'm guessing you're missing one of these or something similar. Hope it helps! P.s. I'd loctite that bad boy If I were you- if it's falling out now, you can bet 12ga recoil will knock it around a bit.
  4. I say we put Mike's face on some milk cartons. I keep hoping this is a bad dream. No more MD-20's? What's the point in living?? Yeah, I remember reading about that last year, I think it was. They used the S12 because it could keep an accurate round-count with the high rate of fire. I, too, hope everything is ok at MD Arms. Still.. This is bizarre...
  5. It's not too bad. I like the fact that it was a leather (unlined) thumb-break holster for ~$60. I need to pick up some mink oil or something though, because it is one squeaky sum'bitch. Mainly when I use that 3rd slot and carry "FBI canted" instead of SOB. (It would probably help if my scrawny ass had some meat between my hip bone and my belt! Lol) As for speed of draw- it is a bit slower than the Fobus holsters I have for my S&W, but still faster than anything IWB. All in all, I'd say it's a decent rig. There are certainly better options out there, but I'm not dropping that kind of coin
  6. I alternate: Either the Springfield A1 in the Blackhawk SERPA, carried 3 o'clock and running 8 round CMC Powermags (+1 in the chamber) cocked and locked with Critical Defense, or S&W Sigma .40 running 10 round mags full of Z-max (it was $1 cheaper... don't judge me. ) in a DeSantis Thumb-break Scabbard, SOB. Occasionally, it rides in a Blackhawk neoprene IWB, 12 o'clock. And the good 'ole Gerber "Fast Draw."
  7. Frankford Arsenal ultrasonic cleaner, Wilson Combat spring kit for GP100, and a set of Hogue "Lamo Camo" 1911 grips. Random stuff order.
  8. Cool! That's more like what I was looking for. Thank you! Wow! Now I feel like having this as a range toy is wasteful... Where can you find a holster like that? I think it was your thread on the SP101 that started this whole thing. Those grips make me drool! I might just have to contact them...
  9. Mossberg 500, purchased 06/06/06, last 3 SN digits: 666 I really don't know why I got rid of that. Or the hex receiver 91/30 Nagant. Or the Charter Arms Undercover .38SPL. Why do I EVER sell anything??
  10. I do like Desantis! I've got one for my S&W Sigma that I love. So far, they seem to be the best option out there under $100. What's getting tough now is setting my priorities. I figured with no mags to buy, this gun would be cheap! ...silly Jonny. There's no such thing. By the time I add the cost of the gun, sales tax, night sights, grips, and a holster; I'm over the 1K mark without a round through it. Perhaps it's time to rethink this hobby... Pfft! Like that'll ever happen..!
  11. Finally decided to get another wheel gun. 4" stainless Ruger GP-100. It got back-ordered, but I'm hoping to pick it up Friday or Saturday. The stock grips seem nice enough, but I kind of want something different. I've looked at the grips available from Hogue and I see a couple that I like, but I haven't found anything in gray laminate like the Badger SP101 grips. Anybody have any leads on this? Also looking at night sights. Metroprolight is the standard and runs ~$120 per set. I've found XS sights for ~$80, but I'm not a fan of their rear sight. Any other options I'm not aware of? And the
  12. My condolences, Rob. I absolutely agree- dogs are like family. Had a German Shepherd when I was a kid that was my best friend in the world. Lost her on the 4th of July. To this day, I still hate fireworks. Hang tough, man.
  13. Wow, I have finally (2-3 pages at a time) read this entire thread. ...and I don't remember the first 22 pages of it! Very interesting to read, though. Most screennames are fairly simple, but some of you guys really put a LOT of thought into them. One wonders if our parents thought this much before naming us?
  14. ^Bingo! The idea is that It will adversely affect magazine function. I've seen videos of Russians handling/firing like that though. It's a preference thing.
  15. Thanks for all the quick replies, guys! I'm thinking it belongs to one of his relatives, but I'm not 100% sure what it actually gets used for. I showed him this thread and I think he's a bit discouraged. Not sure if he'll actually try to fix it or scrap it now. One thing's for sure, though- it'll be tough to find a replacement!
  16. Some old cast iron cooking pot: He's wanting to save this thing. I've never personally tried to weld on cast.. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? I told him to build a jig to SLOWLY bend the bottom back to where it needs to be while pre-heating, use nickel rod to weld it, then post-heat it and throw one of our fiberglass fire blankets over it to cool it slowly. Anybody ever mess with cast?
  17. No, what? Where in the fuck where you? Sadly, I've heard it many times. Even a few times at one of the local gun shops. From the owner. Needless to say, I don't go to that one anymore.
  18. Hmm.. Didn't see the term "Barrel Clip" mentioned in this thread yet. Anyone else heard that term for a MD-20? It makes me want to kick a puppy in the face...
  19. That's kinda what I was thinking. He must not have had the utmost confidence in the gun itself. Which begs the question, "Why fire it at all?" Some people's children, man... -shakes head-
  20. I actually had some hilarious reactions while OC'ing in Meijer at 1AM awhile back. The employees would ignore me as they stocked the shelves until they inevitably saw my Sig 1911. Then it was suddenly, "Are you finding everything alright, sir?" "Can we help you with anything?" "Here, let me get that for you!" Good Lord, sheeple. Go find a pregnant lady to help or something. Another time at the range, there was a guy with some antique-looking revolver. I never got a good look at it, but he was making a big fuss about it. My buddy and I were in a pistol bay along with his group of 3 or 4 fr
  21. OC'ing 1911 in Blackhawk SERPA. "That sure is a nice setup, but why would you buy a holster like that?" -I know they're a little controversial thanks to some AD's, but I feel more secure with the SERPA. "But why would you buy a holster you can't conceal?" -Because I'm 5'6", 140 lbs. Attempting to CC a 1911 (my personal preference) is a PITA. "But only LEO's can open carry." -Facepalm- Says who? "You have a permit, right? It's a CC permit." -Sir, there is no such thing in the state of Indiana. "Yes there is! It's illegal to open carry!" -Really? Look at your permit. -Looks at his per
  22. So what's the word, 86camaro? You send little Peter Cotton-Tail hoppin' down that long, dark trail yet?
  23. Minor update: Still waiting to get his service record back, but some relatives had a ton of old pictures that they dug out and sent to us. My Grandfather's service picture: And apparently my Grandmother was a WAC! I didn't know that. I have more to be proud of than I thought...
