M92 PAP gas block/front sight
LuPiN8oR replied to DLT's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
...are you sure its the front sight block? I ask this specifically because mine actually had the rear sight canted on the dust cover and it was pretty easy to smack it with a hammer until it got straight enough. -
Another Pointless AR vs AK Thread
LuPiN8oR replied to XD45's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
Rhodes, since weight is a concern, have you considered an ar in 6.8 spc or maybe 6.5 grendel? More power than a 556, and basically the same weight. I built a 6.8 as a hunting gun and absolutely love it. Its my 2nd favorite in my little collection, only to the x39 saiga. -
I have a manticore arms flash hider for my sgl 21, it works really well. It stayed on the rifle for the longest time until i decided id rather be able to attach a bayonet using the 74 style brake.

If i had that much coin to throw at an ak i would be lookin for a used arsenal. Not long ago prices had come down to 900$ or so for a new factory side folder.

Tapco Intrafuse

Early on i got a grip pod but now it sits in a box bc it really doesn't act as a grip or bipod really well in my opinion. -

I think I'm with darth on this one. I think all you really need is a hand stop, vfgs and afgs add unneeded weight imo, and using the stubby grip as a hand stop works really well. -
NICE!!!

Are Your Red Dots Obsolete?
LuPiN8oR replied to XD45's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I have slapped holosuns on almost all my non variable scoped uppers, i got the 505c and the 515c. Gotta love the circle dot reticle and solar power! So far, they have held up very well. -
Very true, itd just be nice to standardize a little more caliber wise.

Not seeing any subs on their site. Actually, im not seeing any ammo available at all on their site. Its tac47 .com right?
-
Wait...who here has x39 subs...in stock? Seriously, if i can get x39 subs my 300blk ar upper just got expendable.

Question on 922r Compliance on 7.62x39 Stock Saiga
LuPiN8oR replied to cenote811's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Most people who choose to convert use a us made trigger group (3parts), a us made buttstock (1part), and a us made pistol grip (1part). Then after installing the bullet guide and filing down the mag catch you can run regular ak mags without running afoul of 922r. If you choose not to convert but wish to run hi cap mags, you can still use 2 out of 3 us made trigger group parts, and swap out the stock and handguard. To my knowledge, govco does not consider a standard saiga sporter to have a "muzzle device" or shroud on it so to speak, so you are adding a us made part that wont reduce the overall -
Fat Fifty Ammo Cans
LuPiN8oR replied to XD45's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I use 40mm cans for my 7.62x39 since i have more of that than any other caliber. I use regular 50cal cans for my 556, 1k rounds of wolf gold fits with a little bit of ingenuity. 50cal cans get used for 22lr, 12g, and 308 as well. For all my oddball rounds (300blk, 6.8spc, etc) i use 30cal cans simply because i have no intention of stocking heavily on them. E.t.a. i recently had the extreme displeasure of having the upstairs kitchen sink spring a leak that went unchecked for a couple weeks. Guess where all my stuff is stored? You got it, directly beneath the kitchen sink downstairs. Nothing -
Want list
LuPiN8oR replied to Heartbreaker's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
A lightweight 16in ar-10 that would weigh 7lbs or less so when the can and scope were on it would be under 10lbs w a 10rd mag. -OR- A tavor in 308 if they ever get released. -And- Xd subcompact 9mm mod.2 in odg when they come out. More ammo. Ive been working on my want list like crazy so i can be 'done' for awhile and allocate resources to other things. -
Its not really, the omega is super light, i think under 1lb. (eta--14.2 ounces). I'll have to look at how much it weighs but the whole thing is lighter than my saiga x39 by at least 2 lbs. I'm just not into heavy quad rails anymore, with that replaced you could probably knock another 8oz or so off the gun.

I have a psa 12in 300blk with a FN "machine gun steel" barrel and pistol length gas system. It sits atop a spikes lower with the sbx pistol brace. I picked the 12in barrel because i didnt want to lose that much velocity shooting supers and figured 12in would be a happy medium and still short enough to put a can on and keep overall length down. With the silencerco omega its still very maneuverable, and this thing hasn't ftf/fte suppressed or not, subs or supers. The only thing I would change is ditch the quad rail for a super light keymod or mlok rail.

Radical firearms out of Texas makes the most cost effective to highest quality ratio uppers ive seen on the market. I have one 556 pistol upper and one x39 pistol upper, both run like raped apes. Accurate as well. Nice melonited barrels.

Well, i figured i should post an update and let everyone know that the recoil spring swap was a short lived fix. She's now back to a 3inch deviation between the 1st racked round and the auto loaded ones. It worked well at first but i am now at a total loss as to how i should go about remedying this or if i should even bother trying. The only upside is that if i zero the hand racked round dead on elevation and one inch left, all subsequent rounds land 1in right and 2.5inches high. So in theory it can still be used for hunting if you use a hold over if you're shooting out to 200yds on the 1st ro

To hold the bolt open when you press the button in while you have the charging handle pulled back. Its a little silver tab on the RH side of the trigger group. I left mine in on my s308, zoom in and you can see it.
-
If you installed a bullet guide, instead of modding the mags to fit the rifle it is waaaaay easier to dremel the mag catch on the rifle to accept standard com blok mags. Then it'll eat from any ak mag without worry. Its not hard, just go slow and take a little off at a time and use a steel surplus mag to check fitment. Dont use tapco mags. Also, did you keep your bolt hold open tab in your fire control group? Regardless, its not uncommon for these rifles to hang up at the point you're mentioning if you are babying the charging handle.

I'm waiting on a silencerco omega to get out of NFA jail...just out of curiosity, did you thread the barrel of your s308 yourself? If so, why didnt you thread it 5/8-24? Im just curious because i am wanting to thread my s308 and really hoping 5/8 will work for cross compatibility.
