  1. I wonder.. You think it would be considered "open carry", or do you think they would consider it an extension of your home, like a car, and allow it?
  2. Thank you for the answers. I do, however, have just a couple of more questions. I tried ordering a bolt carrier from R&R's website recently, and there is a "checkout" page that includes name, address, city, country, postal code, etc., as well as a "purchase" button, but there is nowhere that I have found to put any card details. Are the orders by phone only? And the other question I have is, since the carrier is not pinned, would it not be susceptible to the weaknesses of the factory carrier? The reason I'm looking for a new bolt carrier is so that I have something to use (and will
  3. Save your money. You're gonna need it to buy one of these: I didn't see it on your list. You know you want one.
  4. Hi, I was looking to purchase one of your R&R Saiga 12 bolt carriers and just had a few questions: 1. Is it a drop in replacement for the factory carrier? 2. It shouldn't affect headspacing, right? 3. All the dimensions of the gas piston rod will be the same as factory? Only on special orders will they differ from the factory length rod, correct? 4. Are the gas piston's pinned? Thanks! -Forsaken
  5. One more quick question. The R&R bolt carrier IS a drop in part, correct? Shouldn't affect headspacing, right?
  6. Hmmm... No way it should be getting "worse" if you polished it. Some people will sand/polish the rails to further reduce drag, but I wonder how big of a difference that is going to make if you're saying it's seriously suffering from ejection issues. I think the next thing I would try is different ammunition. Also, you said previously your piston was "sticking". Did you mean the gas puck? Try removing the plug and puck, knock the carbon out, clean it if possible, and try again. I don't see that making a huge difference, either, but I don't know the last time you've cleaned it, so, it's just a g
  7. Some of you may recall a post I made the better part of a year ago where I had mentioned that the bolt carrier had cracked where the threads begin, and down to the dimple. Well, I've been thinking recently, it obviously needs fixed or replaced, but what about both? I could send it to Cobra's Custom to have him pin it, weld it, grind it, etc., but I wonder, would it not be smart to have a backup carrier just in case? So, my question is, do you guys think I should pick up an R&R bolt carrier, and when I finally get enough time, send my factory part to have it fixed as well? The R&R shoul
  8. No, I have never tried that mount, personally, but I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. If you want to give a no name brand mount a try, and see how it holds up to the repeated recoil of a .30 cal rifle, then give it a shot. However, I highly suggest, instead of purchasing that mount for $32.95 + $4.49 S&H, you save that money, and put it towards a mount which you can depend on. I've heard the Midwest Industries mount is good. Buy once, cry once. http://www.amazon.com/Midwest-Industries-Railed-American-Defense/dp/B006ESJJUY/ref=pd_sim_sbs_sg_12?ie=UTF8&refRID=00VDN2B8427XXR1K8FBS Now
  9. My suggestion is, if you can, find a H&R or NEF 20 gauge break action, a box of skeet, and one of those handheld skeet throwers (the pull string automatic ones seem to break them often.). There is something satisfying about making a target explode.
  10. I'm putting the Saiga .308 project on hold for awhile. My new toy just set me back a pretty penny.
  11. The mount itself is stripped. I can only assume it came from the manufacture that way because I never even got around to using the rifle with the scope mount installed. If I wanted to, I could probably run a tap through it and use a larger screw, but honestly, I don't even care to try. You really do get what you pay for, and I'm fine with that. I'll just stick with the higher quality stuff from now on.
  12. A cop should never tell a person to grab their firearm. That is just stupid and dangerous. Imagine if you get the one trigger happy cop who tells you to grab your firearm, then for whatever reason decides his life is in danger because you "pulled a gun" on them. For someone who wasn't there, it could look like self defense on the officer's part. Or, imagine if cop A. goes to driver side, and cop B. passenger side. Cop A. tells you to grab your firearm, and cop B. does not hear cop A.'s order, suddenly, to B., you're pulling a firearm out on his partner. You will be having a bad day. The one ti
  13. If you are talking shoulder fired anti material rifle, then holy shit. You would need one HELL of a recoil reduction system, and even then it'd move you a couple feet every shot, if not still breaking your shoulder. On top of that, finding 30mm ammunition would be damn near impossible, if not completely so. Honestly, we've already got 20mm's on the market, it'd be cool to say you've got such a thing as a 30mm "rifle" (cannon), but I'm just not sure of its practicality. The weight of such a platform alone would be enough to make the terminator shudder.
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. I really like the RS-303 with the AKM 30mm rings, but I'm not sure if most larger objective lensed scopes (~40mm for example) would clear. I may have to go with the AKR (picatinny rail) for the 303 if I plan to use a scope. Check out how low the AKM sits with this Aimpoint, and imagine trying to use a scope:
  15. Couldn't agree more. Recently purchased quite a few magazines for the Saiga .308 and Saiga 12 from him. Excellent packaging, and I was shocked when I got the package the day after I placed the order. I'll never buy another polymer magazine for any firearm Csspecs makes a magazine for. They are built like a tank.
  16. So, awhile back I had purchased a BP-02 low profile scope mount from Kalinka, like I had done in the past with my previous .308. Upon receiving it, I had noticed a few differences between the new mount and the mount I used to have. The new one, unlike the picture of the item on their website, was using some screws that looked like they were zinc plated or something. For me, that wasn't that big of a deal, though. I figured I could get some higher quality screws, then I'd loctite them in, and all would be well. Well, just a few days ago, I checked the mount for any looseness because I've felt l
  17. Your best bet is to do a lot of reading up on this site about the Saiga. I've never personally used a Promag drum before, but I do own an MD-20 which I've never had an issue with. The fact that it runs fine with the factory 5 round magazine, but not the drum indicates to me that it COULD be the drum itself. The double feeding kind of makes me wonder if that is the case. As I'm sure you're aware, and I don't mean to talk bad about your purchase, but Promag doesn't exactly have the most outstanding reputation. Some have good luck, most have bad luck. Now, with that said, it is also very likely t
  18. From what I remember about pepper spray, if you don't have your CWP, you can only carry the small cans with the keychains attached. If you have your CWP, I believe it was any size you wish to carry. This is going off of memory from my concealed class, and I'm no lawyer, so proceed at your own risk. This.
  19. There's also that option, but you're looking at another ~$80.00. If Slidefire is your main goal, you won't need it.
  20. I'm using a G2 single hook, myself. They do have more play in the .308's than say a 12, but I've heard you can fill excess space between the trigger and receiver using a nylon washer (or something of that sort) on the axis pin, and it supposedly takes a lot of side to side movement out of the equation. Use nylon so it does not rattle.
  21. I just installed mine using this exact part: (Scroll down to the .308 specific trigger guard) http://dinzagarms.com/misc_parts/triggerguards.html 2 things to note: 1) You do have to drill a hole between the trigger hole and the pistol grip "T nut" hole in the receiver. I first used a 1/16" bit, then a 5/32" bit and test fit the hardware on the 5/32" hole (instructions included with the guard say 3/16" required), and it didn't fit, so I stepped up to the 3/16" bit, and it fits just fine. 2) I personally had to cut off the fake "T nut" area of the trigger guard because I wanted to use bo
  22. I'm really liking it! Keep up the good work.
  23. On mine, I can cycle Federal #8 in the Walmart value packs as well as any high brass full power load on the factory plug. The reason "I" bought the Autoplug is because Federal value packs aren't always available, so I got it to run Winchester #8 value packs, which never run right on the factory plug. With the Autoplug, I can run any low brass all day long, however, once I try any full power loads, it hangs up every time. I assume, due to the design of the Autoplug, it's purging most of the gas out as it's designed to keep from overgassing the firearm, but is not leaving enough to cycle the act
