  1. A 3" 410 shell has 11/16 of a ounce of shot that is 300.78125 grains moving at 1200 fps. Max load of a 44 magnum with a 300 grain bullet is 1300 fps.
  2. Got the word today that PMC is exspecting a shipment of 1 million berdan primers from Russia in July. Along with the .217" large rifle primers will be some .254" large rifle primers which are the size that fits the Barnual 410 shotshells.
  3. I started it in the fall of 1998 when I first got online with one page and now I have 8 pages dealing with AK stuff. There were a couple of bulletin boards that dealt with AK rifles but there was not anywhere that you could get accurate info. Searching the posts on the bulletin boards was a hit and miss deal as so many of them were inaccurate. The only site that had a FAQ was the AK-47.net written by the origional owner and it had about 50% inaccurate info with very few details. Even the books about AK rifles dealt with military models mostly. So with internet providers giving free space to
  4. The #56 berdan primers can be inserted by hand into the cases. Every other case I have reloaded the primers are a very tight fit and have to be pressed in. I am making a tool with the end shaped like this ( So as to press the edges of the primer into the primer pocket. Hopefully this will cause the sides of the primer to be pressed out into the sides of the primer pocket making it a tight fit. http://www.grafs.com/shopRegularproducts.cfm/startItem/1 Here is the Russian reloading tools for the Barnual 410 shells. http://www.prodiz.ru/katalog/katalog6.html Ballistic Products has 410 slugs.
  5. The only place to get a 2-1/2" mag is EAA and they are $29. http://www.eaacorp.com/parts/Magazines/smag.shtml
  6. No, the Saiga is a modified AK-100 series rifle. The AK-100 series of rifles are the updated version of the AK-74. The rear of the bolt of AK-47/AKM rifles is larger in diameter than the AK-74/AK-100/Saiga rifles and the hole for the bolt in the bolt carrier is larger also.

    serial #

Yes it was imported in 1999. There is not any collector value on any Saiga's so it is worth $150-$200.
  8. They do stand behind their warrenty. Co-worker bought a Hi-point 40 S&W last year and after firing a couple boxes the frame cracked locking up the slide. He took it back to the dealer who mailed it to Hi-point. 3 weeks later the dealer called and told him to come pick up his pistol. They had sent him a brand new pistol no questions asked.
  9. The rear sight of the Saiga is marked with numbers that stand for 100's of meters. 1=100 meters,2=200 meters,etc....

    serial #

What is the serial number? Who is the importer?
  11. http://www.dansammo.com/ Dan is the importer of the Barnaul shotgun ammo so email him and see if he will give you a heads up on when some more is coming in. http://www.kieslersonline.com/product/ko_R...vback=index.asp Still has some of the #1 size shot left in 12ga.
  12. Sounds like the same guy that emailed me about the gas hole size. He lives in France and due to their laws the Saiga's are imported without the gas hole drilled in the barrel. They are a clip fed manualy operated shot gun. Pic of French Saiga 410 with non functioning gas system.
  13. The adjustments you make to the front sight have the oppsite effect on where the bullet will hit the target. Turning the front sight clockwise lowers it which raises the bullet impact on the target. Counter clockwise rasies the front sight and lowers bullet impact. The drum that the front sight screws into can be knocked right/left with a hammer and punch to move the bullet impact. Move it to the right and the bullet impact will move left. Move it left and the bullet goes right. If you look at the cleaning kit container there are slots in the side. One side has a longer slot than the other

  15. Well checking the Russian rifles page of my web pages I noticed the info on Saiga rifles/shotguns was really lacking. So I though I would ask you guys for some help with some research. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jfreeman246/page_5.htm From the markings on my Saiga's a B-west imported 7.62x39mm Saiga rifle with a 93 serial number prefix,a Big Bear imported Saiga 410 shotgun with a 94 serial number prefix, and Saiga 12ga imported by EAA that has 2000 stamped in the middle of the receiver. Does anyone have a B-west imported Saiga 7.62x39mm rifle marked other than with a 93 prefix? Or

    Saiga 12 Chokes

http://www.eaacorp.com/parts/saigaaccessories/choke2.shtml Saiga chokes screw on the outside of the barrel not inside. EAA is the only place to get them and they only sell the choke set. The set consists of a thead protector, modified, and full choke.
  19. I have one of the first Saiga's imported in 1994 and that is the only barrel length they were imported with.
  20. The stock on ebay came from RPB it is the first item for sale on this page. http://rpbusa.net/ak.html Some of the receiver cover mounts work ok but unless they are a real tigh fit they will loose zero when removed and replaced. As you have to do this every time you clean your rifle they are just so so. The correct/origional factory mount for the Saiga is the detachable mount with the built in rings. But the other two work just fine. The side mounts will remain zeroed no matter how many times you take them on and off. http://www.cdnninvestments.com/ak.html
  21. Friend's son bought one a couple weeks ago and it looks ok metal wise. The handguards look to be used and have a dark oil type finish. The stock is the same color as a pine 2x4 and it has a clear polyurathane finish. Wood fit is so so but functional. The only real issue with the rifle was the over zealous grinding on the sides of the mag well and mag well spacers for the narrow mags spot weled on each side of the inside of the receiver. The mag well spacers didn't guide the mag into the well. A double stack mag could be inserted into the rifle with the rear of the mag slightly cocked to one
  22. So far I have made some tools on my mini lathe to deprime the Barnual 410 cases. #1- is one of the 410 cases I cut down to get the measurements from. #2- is a aluminum base with hole through it and a recess to fit the case rim to set the case on when knocking the primer out. #3- is a turned down steel rod with a off center hole made with a number 60 drill bit. I used #1 to mark the place where to drill the hole so it would line up with the flash holes in the case. I inserted the shank of the #60 drill bit and cut it off where the twist part starts and rounded the end. Used a center punch to
  23. I have the Saiga 2-1/2" magazine that I ordered from EAA and can't get Winchester or Remington 2-1/2" slugs to feed reliably with it. There is no way they will work out of a 3" magazine. Winchester,Remington, and Federal 3" shotshells function 100%. As does the Barnaul slugs and shotshells. The older imported Brenneke 73mm/2-7/8" slugs will not function in a Saiga. So don't waste your money buying the ones in the pic below. Get the newer imported Brenneke 3" slugs. Check this link for a pic of them. Brenneke 3" 410 slugs
  24. I bought a Saiga 12 used last month that the seller said had 12rds through it. It is the 19" barrel, adjustable sights, with screw on chokes "defense" model. Put the gas setting on #1 and shot a 25rd box of Dynamit Nobel 3-1/4dr eq 1oz shot,25rd box of Dynamit Nobel 3-3/4dr eq 1-1/4oz of shot,2-10rd boxes of Barnual OObuck steel case, and a 5rd box of Federal 3" slugs. All 75rds functioned 100% even with a couple of mags loaded with a mixture of the above shells. The 1oz loads were a joy to shoot and the 3" slugs would stomp your ass. I used the cylinder choke that came with the gun and it wou
