  1. I have a UTG dual rail and it could be done. However, there is not a lot of material on the back end for a stop though. You could still put it there on the top dovetail with a small roll pin or set screw. I think an alternate option would be to remove the material so you could slide it on, then drill a hole straight through the forward end approximately where it normally stops and then tap it for a larger set screw that has a plastic anti-rotation insert that you would engage once the mount is slid on the rail. You could probably knock that mod out in an hour.
  2. Waaaaaaaaa! Just kidding! Why not just mod the UTG rail so it can slide on front to back instead of back to front? Open up the rail opening so that it slides clean through and then add a set screw or something to give it a new stopping point to maintain zero? You could probably pull that mod off with just a dremel, file, drill, and a tap.
  3. Yugos are the tanks of the AK's. You absolutely have to fire any weapon to know if it will be reliable.
  4. I got one and it's fine, but the picture of the UTG rail in Shotgun News sure looks tempting!
  5. I think Centerfire has the pouches alone. You should be able to find some on Gunbroker as well.
  6. I would suggest grabbing a 4pack of mags while they are still out there and affordable.
  7. Actually, I heard Menudo smells like ass. lol (I've heard plenty of Hispanics say that, so I don't think I'll offend anyone!)
  8. My advice to you FWIW. Buy the Krebs ghost setup. Get over the look of the pinch bolts, it's the best one out there. Swap the AR style post for a tritium one. Try it out. If you still want to do the rear ghost too: buy some tritium vials, drill the ring to fit as many vials you want, where you want them, affix them with clear RTV. Also, I don't think it's that bad, but my rule of thumb is: Don't trust anything that glows on its own accord. Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses.
  9. I heard boiling Menudo smells pretty good. I might need some tomorrow.
  10. I have one of those. Great rifle, but the fugly black plastic handguards have got to go! Probably go with some nice new teak ones from Ironwood. Maybe carve in some replica trench art to pay homage to the time when this actual rifle (and yours) was likely some cold warrior's primary means of survival in the Yugoslav Wars. Also, theres that UTG quad rail on tickbite that is pretty cool, even if only to keep around as a spare. But I think you might want to do some 922 calculations if you install that one.
  11. As I pulled my latest cold war era demil out of the thick plastic bag that they all seem to be wrapped up in, I immediately noticed something familiar. Thats when I realized that this was one of the unique things I like about a surplus AK that is different than getting a new store bought rifle... That they all have a common odor. (I am sure that there are more than a few of you out there that know what I'm talking about) It's a bit hard to describe to those that haven't witnessed it before. Kind of like that far corner of the gunshow where the old retiree sits selling old surplus military
  12. Okay, it is unanimous. Snake Doug-Bob Plissken it is! From now on please address me only as Snake Doug-Bob Plissken. Thor and his hammer have left the building. I am now known as Snake Doug-Bob Plissken. but I would also like to reserve the right to change my name again to some of the other cool names I came up with... Actually, Dead Horse Beating Guy might not be too bad...
  13. I read somewhere about soldiers wrapping the selector with yarn(?) to avoid the audible click. Should prevent the scratch as well. (could also find its way into your receiver too) However, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a mark already present when you open the box.
  14. Im bored with my handle. I was thinking maybe trying something catchier like: Johnny Zastava Snake Plissken Yalla Yakbar Doug.
  15. Another tacticool part! On the house even! I think you meant "(not) ridden"
  16. Slayer?!! I pegged you 2 to be Anthrax kind of guys. Oh well, to each his own.
  17. Good thinking. I have a FSB to pull soon and that should do the trick without mucking things up. Whoops! My first slam-post.
  18. Good thinking. I have a FSB to pull soon and that should do the trick without mucking things up.
  19. OOOOhhhhh...Spinners! TH likes! Dat b da shizzle...
  20. Damn nice. How did you make the stencil? Isn't there some sort of spray on masking that they use for RC cars?
  21. Anyone tried this yet? Recommendations on prep and materials? Thoughts on adhesion and durability? I've been thinking about doing this on my tacticool S12. (everyone has got to have one of those) Maybe something in a satin black finish with large white Punisher skull or a bio-hazard symbol on the business end. Or is this a dumb idea?
  22. comparing the above picture to my 109 it surely will require some permanent mods to the receiver.
  23. Nice! It just doesn't get any better than that.
