  1. I would love to shoot my 308 more but i don't want to spend more time scrounging for my brass than actually shooting it. Found this one but I wonder if it would work fine with the 308s: http://www.tacticalinc.com/ak47-valmet-mak...7e6fc0aec676692 308 is just too expensive to not reload these days.
  2. Sure, I would be interested. I would like to have a shortcut because I don't want to do it right and can't thread my muzzle.
  3. Wanna trade? I'm serious. I have a converted 308 19 inch barrel Saiga that I would like to trade for a longer barrel.
  4. How hard is it to convert this to standard parts? I see the trigger group is forward but I'm worried about the rear of the receiver. Possibly interested.
  5. My buddy converted his 308 by welding a trigger onto the factory trigger after cutting off the elongated portion. He did this like 5 or 6 years ago when Saiga 308s were new to the market and there wasn't the aftermarket support that there is today.
  6. When it comes to AKs, I never make the mag fit the gun, I make the gun fit the mag. You said that all your mags are having the same problem. That sounds like you need to open up that spot just below the mag catch with a drum sanding bit on a dremel. I have had to do that before on my AKs. Much better to make the gun fit the factory mags than make the mags fit the gun. Otherwise you will end up with mags taht only can be used in your gun and your gun might still only accept altered mags. Just something to think about.
  7. Very nice conversion!! Awesome workmanship. What was the original barrel length if you don't mind me asking? I am looking for a long 308 barrel for my 308.
  8. My 308 had the pistol grip hole already in place however it was not big enough front to back. I had to file it to get the nut to position itself properly. Before filing, it would not lay down flat to give the proper angle for the pistol grip screw. After filing, it now fits flush. For the screw hole, I just mounted my reused trigger guard on the mag catch with the screw and nut and then just drilled the rear hole using the existing hole in the trigger guard just kind of by winging it. Meh. Its easier done than said. It is an AK and being off by certain amounts isn't going to ma
  9. What mags are these that you are talking about? Are they Promags?
  10. I recently got a 308 with the short barrel. I love it and converted it (just a basic conversion) but I have decided that I really want a long barrel model to make a PSL clone out of. What do most people like on their 308s?
  11. Did you use a stock aftermarket trigger set such as the Tapco G2? If so, did you grind the hammer so that the profile matches the stock hammer and did you grind the side of the hammer so that it is slightly narrower than the factory hammer? The factory hammer is slightly narrower due to the bolt hold mechanism. If you don't do those 2 steps to the Tapco trigger group (unmodified), then it will give you all sorts of problems.
  12. Enough friction was added by way of the Tapco trigger group that you put into place. If you remove the hammer and polish it to a shiny finish where the bolt carrier rides, you might get lucky and have it cycle properly again.
  13. I had to polish the underside of the rails where the rim contacts the rail during feeding almost to a bevel smoothed edge. It feeds flawless now. I used to have failure to feed jams almost all the time before I did that. I NEVER use heavy ball, heavy bullets in my PSL!!!! Big no no
  14. If I remember correctly, there was a bunch of posts about him over at Brian Enos's forums (the Dillion forums). There was a big thread about "Is the Saiga fad finally dieing down?" and he had a bunch of posts in it I think.
  15. I have been waiting as well. I am in the process of doing a refi on my house (yay, going from 9.5 to 6 percent 30 year fixed!) and didn't want to clog up the credit card. Just ordered it though, there was like 34 left. I think by tonight or this weekend, they will be all gone forever. Or until the next pre-buy.
  16. I know of one for 569 if you want it. The guy ships as well.
  17. You might want to make sure that you can even convert the gun legally in NY. There might be a good chance that you can't convert a sporting gun into an AK style shotgun in NY.
  18. They *should* (nothing is set in stone with the ATF) allow you to register it as a DD. They should give you the opportunity to grandfather it in under the provisions that they set forth. I am curious to know how that will work in states like mine that don't allow DDs though, I have heard that they make exceptions for situations like this.
  19. The ATF doesn't need Obama/Jesus/Bush/McCain or anyone to make it a DD. All the ATF has to do is to say "its now a DD" and the deed is done. They could do it tomorrow if they cared.
  20. Yup. Works perfectly. When I get around to polishing up my Tapco, I will put the Tapco back in place.
  21. Awesome!! Mike put the drums he tortured up for sale!! read the MD Arms section of the board for more info. Great auction!
  22. I am one of the people that bought the drum from a vendor (Atlantic Arms) instead of getting on the original pre-buy. Anyway, will we still be entitled to the free spring upgrades or anything like that? Thanks..
